"The Swindle" from Size Five Games for PC and consoles
Griddlelol replied to Ben X's topic in Video Gaming
I picked this up last night, it seems right up my street, it's like a great mix of Spelunky and Rogue Legacy. However, playing on Vita, it controls like utter shit. I've landed in spike pits more times than I can remember. Also when you play perfectly, pull everything off right, then realise the randomly generated level has left you stranded...man that's an awful feeling. It wouldn't be so bad if the upgrades weren't so expensive. I have hacking...and that's it.- 103 replies

That's great xenoblade is perfect for off screen play since it's so slow to start.

Fair enough. It really masks me music when I'm watching but I could totally see how you don't nltice during play. I'm excited for the western release. I hope it comes with a sound track too. That'd be amazing.

The popping when the correct input is pressed is really irritating. Please tell me there's a way to turn that off!

You can use the game pad as a controller? That would secure my money.

Is grimoire shared across characters?

I think games are pretty reasonable. If you can hold yourself and not buy a game on release, you can get a fantastic deal. Avoiding the marketing hype is the hardest part. I think when it comes to digital games, I don't mind paying a little extra for the convenience, but how many are technically not mine rather, I have just bought the licence to use them, which can be revoked at any time. That's what concerns me. It's working right now, but how long until a company fails and leaves the business? What happens to my stuff then?

So I'm looking for a guild, know the best way to find one? Also, why the fuck do I only ever get 3 different strikes in the vanguard dragon list? The boring ass cabal ones and the nexus. It's driving me crazy! The nexus is ok, but the cabal ones are the absolute worst ones they made, so incredibly tedious. I really hate fighting cabal too!

Holy shit that looks good. It's like dark souls bayonetta edition.

I've found crucible really rewards defensive play. When I push hard and go solo, I generally do average go bad. If I play like a coward, run away from fire fights I'm not 100% sure I can win, hide behind team mates and stick with other people, I do really well. The only time I break away from the pack now, is if there's a big cluster of people and I can easily flank. I like playing defensively. It fits my style.

I'll start throwing stuff up on the100 once my gf leaves. I'll need something to fill my free time! I requested to join a UK based clan, but not received a response. Not really sure what the etiquette is... Until then I'm spending every moment available with her (and I've got a conference at the moment too, so I'm barely home).

I'd like to look for a guild that's more in my time zone. Apparently there's no easy way to find one other than browsing through all the guilds on the bungie website.

I finished the story mode in Hyrule Warriors. I had essentially played it twice, since my hd got formatted. It's a pretty enjoyable mindless game that I could play while I'm tired or while I'm watching a movie. It was fun!

I keep having matches where I'm going like 25:5, then the next match I'm like 5:10. I just don't get it. Are there a lot of pre-made groups in crucible? It could explain why sometimes I always feel like I'm surrounded, while others I feel like I'm in control and know where enemies are/will come from. Shotguns don't help. Like 80% of my deaths come from shotguns. Man, I need one of those, but I just love sniping so much.

I had the same thought, texts to me a this throw away thing usually consisting of "OK" "I'll be there in 5 mins" or "I'm hungry" but if all my emails got deleted, I'd probably feel pretty shitty.

Yeah I need to mention that again. It seems like there's a big gap between everyone though. Those at G rank, me at high rank and dibs at low. In other news, I finished Shovel Knight It's a game I wasn't sure if I would have liked, but I gave it a fair chance, got frustrated at a particularly difficult section, quit, then gave it a second chance. It's not the second coming of Christ like many have said, but it's a decent game. I am missing the key nostalgia ingredient, but I could still see where it's good, where it's great and where it's not that fantastic. All in all I enjoyed it. I got out of it what I wanted: an old style 2D platformer that would challenge me and make me think about 2D games more. I'd recommend it, but there are plenty of people out there already doing that. Still, good game.

I should probably clarify that we were discussing youth unemployment specifically.

Embarrassingly, I heard the adjective "ghetto" applied to things long before I knew what an actual ghetto is. To me, it just means a cheap, quick way to do or fix something using easily accessible materials. I guess the equivalent of McGyver - or at least what I know about McGyver from The Simpsons. "Ghetto" doesn't even register in my head as having anything to do with black people. The first time I heard it in its actual usage was on holiday referring to a place in Venice called Giudecca, which was essentially a Jewish ghetto that only had access by one or two bridges that would be locked at night to keep the Jews out of the city outside of trading hours.

I didn't know that. That's pretty interesting. I lived on a minimum wage contract for about 18 months, and I was lucky enough to have my dad there to provide a roof over my head and food to eat. My minimum wage was all bonus pay, but I don't know how someone could live on that without help. It's pathetically low. I've had this conversation with a friend of mine who's an accountant, and he provides a compelling reason as to why minimum wage is so low in some cases. People with no experience or skill are not worth more. If minimum wage was higher, he asserts that unemployment would be higher too. I don't know how realistic that is, I know nothing about economics so it sounds like a decent explanation to my lay ears. My counter argument (well half-assed counter argument) was that minimum wage should have a mandatory increase over time to account for the increase in experience and skills new workers get. His argument was that the increase numbers would be arbitrary and unfair because different people blah blah, I don't remember the rest.

Iziz in KOTOR 2. Dropping in via basilisk sending the population running in fear then proceeding to storm the Sith HQ on the world along the battlements. So amazing. It's Jedi power trip at its best.

Accountability is a huge thing in MMOs. When you're looking to fill a slot in a raid group and you get a message from someone who was an ass last time you met them, you know to ignore them. Similarly, if someone you like and/or was good, messages you telling you that they are "X" and on their alt, you're going to pick them up over other randoms. I doubt it's the same in Lords Managements, but being known in a medium population WoW realm thanks to a unique name (and being a good player I should add) - Peterfile the Priest - was a pretty good feeling.

Once I hit max level on either of my characters I'd be up to do some trials! Still struggling to get there though. That 30-34 grind is tough. What are the best sources for mats to upgrade gear? I don't mean weapon parts etc, I mean the yellow tier mats I think they're called etheric light and something else.

I'm going to call it now, I saw the credits and did even more, so it counts. I beat Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It's a hell of a game. It's dragged me into to series and I'm so happy about it. I adore the combat, I adore the fact it's just boss after boss. The controls are close to perfect. There is one thing I hate about it. The need for multiplayer. I've enjoyed some of the multiplayer, it's good, it's fun, but making so you can't progress in single player without completing certain quests in multi is a bad choice. I'm currently stuck on Dalamadur, which is impossible to PUG with, since I have no idea what I'm doing, and most people don't either. That brings me to my next issue. The gimmick fights - I hate Dah'ren Mohran and Dalamadur. They're an entirely different skill set, they don't make you use what you've learned, they just dump you in a new situation, with no instructions whatsoever. The rest of the game is pretty good at tutorialising without actually doing it. Yes, you pretty much have to look stuff up, but I never looked up how to fight an enemy, all the monsters I'd fought had taught me how to deal with each new monster. Yet those two fights required me to look up a strategy. I'm not done with MH4U, but I am taking a break. It's a fantastic game, but banging my head against a gimmick fight with PUGs isn't fun, I'm sure I'll get past it eventually though.

I have a new rule. PvE in the morning, PvP at night. Not only are the most irritatingly good players on at 6am BST, but I just do not have the reaction time when I first wake up to deal with any one. I came across someone incredibly infuriating. It was a pretty good tactic, but he was a hunter with blink, and would just teleport next to me and shotgun me to the chest. He was even able to blink past my trip mines. Nothing I could do about it thanks to a favourable map to wield shotguns (the vex map, I forget what it's called), and my poor luck with finding a shotgun to use. Had a great time sniping with a rile that has the firefly perk last night. It feels so badass to headshot someone and see them explode, then turn your aim on to their partner and body shot them thanks to the explosion taking down their shield. Obviously it's an incredibly situational perk, but it looks damn cool.

Is there any point in running iron banner with my characters who are 29 and 30? I tried one game and got my ass handed to me. Not sure if I was playing bad, or whether the 34s just take more hits to kill and do loads more damage.
