  1. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I can understand Twitch Plays Pokémon, but this just seems crazy. A 3D game is far too complex for random inputs to work.
  2. I have yet to have a weapon break - armor, yes, but that's because I went through acid stuff to get items. The biggest take home for me is that Dark Souls 2 is huge. I finally got past where my first play through stopped, and it just keeps going and going. That kinda thing bugs me usually (see Witcher 3) but thanks to the combat being so great I don't want it to stop. I finally found my niche and yeah, it's with a 2 handed Ultra great sword. Specifically Zweihander because it doesn't weigh very much, which is incredibly important as you don't get increased equip burden from str in DS2. I actually respec'd once to a faith str build, but I just find spells to be so boring and useless. Melee is the only play style that even makes sense to me. I could get why sorcery might work, it hits pretty hard, but faith does no fucking damage, and the healing spells are too slow to use when you need them. Chugging an estus is so much faster. I killed what I thought was the last boss, the watcher and the defender, but now I have no idea what I'm meant to do. I might go and tackle the DLC and maybe I'll find where I'm supposed to go in the process.

You're really endearing me to this teacher. She sounds incredibly eccentric.
  4. Idle Food - Cooking!

I've never had a grainy tomato, only under ripe ones, but I can totally understand the texture thing. A good marinara sauce can turn an average meal into something delicious very easily though.
  5. So why don't people like this game? I don't even remember why I got bored the first time, it's fantastic. Is SOTFS just that much better that I've fallen in love with it?
  6. Life

Wow, I wonder if she did this as a joke. That's amazing.
  7. Idle Food - Cooking!

I've noticed a lot of people (at least say) they hate tomatoes, but love tomato sauce on things. I'm not talking ketchup, but people who love marinara sauce on pasta and pizza or love bolognese made with tomatoes. I wonder what causes that weird disconnect. Maybe it comes from what you said Badfinger - that people eat unripe tomatoes. Tomatoes are fucking delicious. Best fruit and secret best vegetable.
  8. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

What exactly defines a "DRPG" as a genre? I've had people recommend I try a DRPG or two but I know next to nothing about them, other than having tried EOIV and not enjoying it all that much.
  9. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

The mooing is super creepy. That's why.
  10. I Had A Random Thought...

Wikipedia says that Euouae is an abbreviation, so you could probably argue it doesn't count. If you cared enough.
  11. Idle Food - Cooking!

I spent a good 26 years loathing pickles/gherkins. I now can't get enough of them. I put them in every salad and sandwich I make now. They also go great with soy sauce which I suppose is obvious since everything goes with that.
  12. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Moving back to whether this thread should exist still...I like it. It's one of those threads I don't post in but like to read. I wouldn't know where else to get information like this, and appreciate all the links posted.
  13. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I want to finish it...I just don't know how I'm going to bring myself to if any other game grabs my interest.
  14. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

It's also just a different (and kinda bad) game.
  15. I Had A Random Thought...

I remember when I first went to Texas to see my ex's family and friends and used the word "queue" which caused everyone to look at me like I was a freak, every time I used it. I've always assumed since, that Americans just don't use that word.
  16. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I decided to play some Witcher 3 last night after playing a bunch of DS2 this last week. Holy shit the movement in that game is still awful, even with all the updates. I spent about 20 seconds running around in a circle trying to get in front of a ladder for a button prompt. I don't think I ever made it through a single door without bumping into the frame at some point either.
  17. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I like it when this thread turns me around, although it usually happens slowly. Rarely within a few posts, more like just planting a seed of doubt about my quitting. Quitting is rarely permanent, but I also quit games at the drop of a hat, because fuck playing things I'm not enjoying.
  18. Yeah I didn't really get far into upgrades because I died so much One thing I do love about the game is that 100 hiests seems like a lot. I'm doing awful, but I have like 60 left, and no urge to reset. I feel like resetting is a great way to feel frustrated, because 4-5 good runs in a row and you'll be rolling in dough.
  19. Life

I'm not a teacher (and I know some thumbs are, so take what I say with a bucket of salt), but I know a lot of them. Many of my good friends are/were teachers in both primary (elementary?) and secondary (high school) education. A really common tactic to get respect from children is to be as harsh and mean as possible for a month or two, then dial it back once the class learns to behave. I've heard that it's a very old strategy, but that it's also incredibly effective at maintaining classroom order through out the year and allowing yourself to relax a couple of months later. Edit: I just thought I should add, that many of my favourite teachers used this method when I look back.
  20. I should play it on PS4 since it's cross buy, maybe that'd be better. I just picked it up for vita since I wanted something long and repetitive to play while I'm on holiday. I picked up the tactic of sliding down walls to scout out place fast. I'd really appreciate a Spelunky style look down/up which moves the scree just to peek at what's there before springing up/down walls in a pretty uncontrollable way.
  21. Doctor me up, Thumbs

Oh so it was just for the diagnosis? That makes sense, in an horrible kind of way.
  22. Futurama

Oh yeah, I know. I used to own them all, but had them stolen along with my Simpsons boxed sets and my N64 collection (that was all in the same box).
  23. Doctor me up, Thumbs

I'm curious as to that as well...there must be a good reason.
  24. Futurama

I recently caught up and watched every one of the new episodes thanks to gaining access to the US Netflix. They're not great. I occasionally tear up with laughter at the originals on Fox they're so good, I maybe got a smirk or a chuckle from the Comedy Central seasons. Just nothing special. I did see each season on DVD in a local pawn shop for £7-£10 each. I was really tempted to pick them up, but who has the time for discs any more?
  25. Doctor me up, Thumbs

I live on gluten. Sucks that you have to have an actual negative response to gluten, but at least you're in fashion now Dibs.
