As someone who is still learning about all this stuff, and still holds prejudices, that I am now aware of and actively working to stop...how do I actually...do anything to help people? Reading what people write about and making sure I don't say horrible things feels pretty empty to me. It's better than being an asshole, but only in the sense that it's neutral rather than negative behaviour.

That's really interesting. Near where I live there are a few evangelical churches that are all black. They seem super popular. In my ignorance, I've always wondered "Who in the UK identifies as Christian any more?" since my only exposure to Christians has been middle class fundamentalist (they're rare here, but they do exist). Everyone else seems to be atheist, Muslim, Hindu or Sikh. Of course, I don't know any non-middle class black people, and in my field of work, black people are incredibly underrepresented. I'm sure that makes up a huge part of those people within the UK that identify as Christian.

I generally run 2 heavies, 2 assault, 1 sniper and 1 support. Occasionally changing that to 3 heavies 3 assault. Maybe I should take more snipers...
-
Yeah, they're great once they level up, but before they do, they're useless. I almost never get a kill using a squaddie sniper, which makes me not want to bring them. Also due to their lack of manoeuvrability, it's easy to get them separated from the group. That could be mitigated by bringing two snipers to cover each other though. In close quarters like bases, I've found the sniper to be absolutely useless. Can't seem to find a good position for them. If it's a nice open area they are gods.
-
I'm playing vanilla. I'm not a fan of snipers, I tend to bring one, but they're completely useless until they get squad sight, so I find it hard to rationalise leveling them up.

I agree, I loved the feeling of panic I got when the stealth broke down. It's similar to MSGV, except in MGSV you proceed to utilise rockets and thousands of bullets to kill 10s of people. In TLOU, you are forced to stand there, getting shot while you aim that last bullet you have to ensure a headshot. The clickers were a bit overly punishing though. The church yard section is what stops me replaying the game. Too frustrating.

I've decided I want to beat Xcom. I've put well over 100 hours into it and have never finished it. Can someone give me advice, because it's usually about the same point that I bow out. Robots. The robots start appearing and I can't deal with them. They just obliterate every team I have. To combat this, I started rotating people more and more, to the point that I almost always have a rookie in my squad, and I've got a good team of soldiers who can replace anyone. Usually I like to run with a lot of assault classes, but this run (I'm about to assault the alien base) I've been unlucky and only had 2 assault people. I've had to adjust my tactics accordingly, but I feel like I've lost my killing power.

So can someone explain why they were chanting this? I thought systematic racism was a secular issue.

What I loved about TLoU is that Joel was a complete bastard, yet because he was the PC, it was hard not to like him and sympathise with him. In Uncharted, they try incredibly hard to get you to like Drake, but it just fell flat with me. He just seemed like an asshole.
-
What are they chanting in that video? It sounded like "I am..." (crowd) "JESUS!" but that makes no sense.
-
I don't like it either! I played 1 right before 2 was released. I thought it was shite, and I pretty much liked any game I bought back then.
-
Are they on TV?! PC world ads are normally utter shite. They're really good!

I love Pirate's Curse. It was when I was on my Metroidvania obsession, but it's a good version of that type of game. I think I 100%ed Pirate's Curse, or close to it.

I found that Super Metroid, Persona 4 and Dragon's Crown have been my staples. I'm not a fan of Phoenix Wright games. I love the courtroom parts, but nothing else. Which reminds me, I still have Danganronpa that I never got past the first chapter. I just find it hard to have a portable game that requires me to concentrate 100% on thanks to all the reading. I can't decide whether I like Dragon's Crown or not. I've played a lot of it, and despite it being an unpopular opinion, I love the art style, it's just a bit...repetitive.

I think it's weird because it's not a thing in the UK. I've been a university student/worked at a university in the UK for like 8 years, and never once come across cappella outside of American sitcoms. I didn't know it was a sort of informal singing group. All I know about it, is what I've learned from sitcoms. Generally that it's associated with rich white guys going to Ivy League schools who don't want to let go of their past (thanks The Office USA).

American universities are weird. What is it with them and cappella groups? I always thought that was some sort of joke in sitcoms.

I don't see what everyone sees in that movie ...

Yeah, I put good in inverted commas because I didn't know the right adjective. I think 80's action movies are more fun. Commando is one of my favourite movies of all time. Seeing Arnie being Arnie and slaughtering hundreds of guys is just so much fun. -
Fuck, that was hard to watch. He wasn't a threat at all. Just an old dude laying on the ground being electrocuted over and over. It's like they can't identify signs of fear opposed to signs of resistance. That guy was just terrified.

Are Marvel movies considered "good"? I don't like them at all, but half of that is due to my complete apathy towards super heroes in general. -
Can't do rogue likes if I'm tired and cranky. They require too much concentration. A JRPG doesn't sound like a bad idea. Pokemon, or Persona 4. I've been meaning to replay P4 for a while. Thanks!

What are good games to play when tired and moody? I'm working so much at the moment, I get home and just want to play a game, but everything stresses me out too much. Splatoon makes me angry, MGSV feels like work, Xcom is too stressful and Crypt of the Necrodancer feels too punishing. Normally I love all those games, but I just don't have patience to play them right now. So...what's relaxing, but still engaging?

Eh, the 2g/kg is for people who are really trying to pack on muscle. Even that is the upper end of the recommendations (I've seen anywhere from 1.2 - 2g/kg.) 1g/kg is plenty. I think in general, most people don't eat enough protein, so aiming high isn't a bad thing. On the other hand, most bodybuilding bros eat way too much protein, with the logic that if 2g/kg is good, 4g/kg must be twice as good. Which just isn't true. As long as you're making sure you're hitting the complete range of amino acids, then you should be more than fine with 1g/kg and working out hard. In the end, it entirely comes down to your goal. Funny you should mention vegetarianism. I've been considering switching back to a veg diet, but I find that vegetarian sources of protein make me really gassy. I've been eating mainly vegetarian for a week now and I'm fucking unbearable. I just stink out any room I'm in for more than 5 minutes. I'd be embarrassed if I wasn't such a child that finds it hilarious to fart.

2 grams per kg of lean body mass.

I keep getting shocks from my guitar whenever I plug it in to play rocksmith. Do I just have a shitty old guitar (I do), or is it a problem elsewhere? Edit: I should also point out that they're REALLY painful when they get me on the soft, fleshy part of my arm. If I touch the part that shocks me (I think it's the strings and the input jack) with my fingers, it's a relatively painless jolt. Edit 2: I should also mention I cleaned up some rusty frets with steel wool, and because multiple sources said "DON'T PUT IT NEAR THE PICK-UPS" I went an put it near the pick-ups to see what would happen. So now I have little flecks of steel wool on the pick-ups.

The Fifth Element is a weird movie. I don't like Bruce Willis (he always has a rapey vibe, I think that's just his face), and I think the movie is pretty bad. I loved it as a kid, but watching it again in my early twenties (it pains me that I am no longer in my early twenties) I was severely disappointed. I think it's a classic because it's one of the few scifi movies outside of star wars with a relatively wide appeal.
