  1. Xenoblade Chronicles X - good bye Earth

I really want this game. I just have too much work!! When my current contract ends on 8th of Jan, I am buying this, a pack of IPA and playing for like 14 hours straight.
  2. They're just so difficult to eat, and the shell is normally pretty tasteless in my experience. I'd rather just have the filling, with tortilla chips and dip on the side. They don't actually hold the stuffing, it just falls out because it's a hard shell and you can't move it around to keep the contents held within. Burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas are good though. Although, Mexican food is massively over-rated, granted, the closest I've come to "real" Mexican food is in Texas. It's basically poor man's Italian food, which is clearly the best world cuisine has to offer.
  3. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

The portal should suck near by weapons into it, so they're there in the next level.
  4. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Glancing through his recent posts, all I saw was that Venkataraman Ramakrishnan is going to be president of the Royal Society, nothing particularly hateful. I kinda agree with him on the whole X being worse than Y, is not an endorsement of Y, but he expressed it in a profoundly inflammatory way. I'm not going to wade through mountains of old posts to find out if he is indeed an asshat (I'm sure he is, no reason for me to not believe you guys), but sometimes it's good to separate the science from the person who did the science. His work on evolution is pretty darn good, and he's been great at getting that message out to the public, something many high profile scientists don't bother with in the slightest.
  5. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I've not really paid much attention to him other than reading one of his books, which was pretty good.
  6. Life

So I've officially been offered, and officially accepted a position in Germany. Which research project it will be on, I'm going to discuss with my new boss (!!!) later in the week. I'm really, really excited! I want a way to maintain collaborative links with my old boss and people I worked with in Manchester, and I look forward to meeting up with them at conferences and getting hammered. I'm staying in a similar area of research, and so I'd be foolish to cut ties with them like many others have. Especially as when it comes to bioinformatics, Manchester is a pretty decent place for it, while the university I'm heading to in Germany has a severe atrophy in that department. I also got a place-holder job at my current work to keep me monied before I leave. I have to do research obviously, but it gives me a nice buffer before I leave. It's crazy to think how I was so desperate for a job at one point a few years ago, and now every one wants me. I've not even published the papers I've been working on yet either. There are still bits and bobs to finish, probably going to be left to some poor new PhD student, who will get pushed to middle author. Like Gormongous, this is going to put an even greater strain on my current long distance relationship. While I'll be moving closer in terms of absolute distance, the travel time is almost tripled by plane, if connecting flights are favourable. It requires 3 transfers, or flying back to UK, then going direct from there. By train it's roughly 8 hours, and by car it's around 6 hours, but I don't own a car, nor would I want to travel huge distances alone in a car. Compared to my usual 2 hour flight, it's going to be tough. I think I'd choose train, since I can work or keep myself entertained without suffering from the adrenal fatigue I experience from flying. I seriously doubt it's going to last very long, which is upsetting, but there's not a lot I can do about it, other than try hard.
  7. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Off topic, but I had the pleasure of watching a debate between Prof. Atkins (a 'New Atheist,' and writer of a great inorganic chemistry text book) and my undergraduate tutor, Prof. Fox (a Christian, and editor of The Journal of Nucleic Acids Research). Those guys get a bad reputation thanks to the activity of those on Reddit etc., but they're not irrational crazed anti-Christians. It was an interesting debate, because I really respect my old tutor, but I agreed with Prof. Atkins.
  8. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

Holy shit, this is now out on PSN! That was a quiet fucking release! I believe it's available in the US too, and it's cross buy with vita.
  9. Zunless Zee (Sunless Sea)

AH! I didn't realise I had to go back to the port to advance the stories. That makes more sense.
  10. Undertale - No need to kill things, even if they try kill you

I've played this for about an hour. I went in wanting to dislike it (dumb reasons) but it's super charming. I really like it.
  11. Zunless Zee (Sunless Sea)

Ok so I tried this recently, since I picked it up in a steam sale a while back... What the hell am I supposed to be doing? I explore, talk to people...and that's it. I don't really know what the goal is! Can someone explain to me how to play this game? I really like the setting and the odd little stories, but I feel lost constantly.
  12. Other podcasts

I think you're right. I enjoyed DS2 talk, but the Bloodborne one doesn't interest me in the slightest. There was like 5 "mmmhmmm"s in the last show I listened to. I was cycling and I grew angrier and angrier with each one. I had to pull over and change the podcast because I couldn't concentrate on anything other than the "mmmhmmm"s. Their guests are hit and miss. The two British guys (I think Twin Humanities) are the absolute worst. Constantly cracking jokes that just fall flat or make no sense whatsoever. I like the guy who talks about PvP from the hate mail tumblr, mainly because I like hearing the stories of PvP. Always gives me a laugh, because Souls PvP is just about being a massive butthole to everyone.
  13. Recently completed video games

What I loved about The Pirate's Curse was how I discovered like 80% of the items without meaning to. I used a new item in an old zone and came across something, which lead to an upgrade. Made me feel super smart and lucky at the same time.
  14. I dislike how the DLC weapons aren't already upgraded. You have to invest so much in the to see if you even like them. On the bright side, I killed Ludwig. What a great fight! I came out of that with 3 blood vials left. All I want is that damn sword bow. Where the hell is it?!
  15. I'm at BSB. Honestly, I don't find the skill build fun until you come across some good weapons...like the reiterpallasch or twin blades. I switched back to my main to do the DLC. It's pretty cool, but I think what I've learned from replaying Bloodborne, is that I prefer Dark Souls. Initially the excitement of a new game had me, but coming back to it doesn't feel as good as coming back to a Souls game.
  16. Has anyone done a skill build? I'm finding it so difficult, my character does shit for damage. Each fight lasts 10x longer than if I went for the strength build I used last time. Not to mention the threaded cane is such a piece of shit. I feel like I need to either find a way to get a new weapon or just give up on this build entirely.
  17. I feel bad for Dan. He kinda got dumped on for almost an hour. So he's a bit weird with food, it's ridiculous, but it doesn't matter! It sounded like Alex was getting quite aggressive over it, but maybe that's just his normal way of talking. He's pretty aggressive over everything.
  18. Holy (Hell)Diver - Now Coming to PC!

Every time I see this thread I go and listen to Holy Diver. I think I now like the KSE version over the Dio version.
  19. Other podcasts

After listening through Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and most of Bloodborne, the BFSC guys are starting to grate on me. Mainly because they both say "mmmhmmm" a lot. I grimace every time they say it.
  20. I Had A Random Thought...

I was thinking more along the lines of non-porn celebrities. A google search suggests they don't exist. However...mouths do. They look fucking weird! They even have ribbed sections to mimic the trachea. Ok I think I'm done with this. I can get anuses, vaginas and penises, but mouth tubes just freak me out, it's the least erotic thing I can imagine. Oh god I'm in tears:
  21. I Had A Random Thought...

That's crazy! I guess it's so the sex toy user can pretend they're sexing the celebrity, although without the face/body an anonymous anus could be anyone's if you imagine hard enough. Do famous people dildos exist too?
  22. I Had A Random Thought...

It's pretty darn funny even if it is fake. I think the best part is that the...thing...is a celebrity butthole. How does that work?! Do they make a plaster-paris mould of a celebrity's butt? Sounds like a fetish within a fetish.
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

    It looks fake...but I hope it's not.
