  1. Thanks, I could just not figure out what causes them to attack, mainly because I'm running away in a blind panic when they appear. Since it's on PS4 and vita now, I'm playing constantly.
  2. Ok, can someone explain to me how dragons work. I cannot figure out what makes them attack/not attack. I've only ever beaten them by luck, or just having high enough damage to survive them.
  3. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

My problem is that I could easily get to the ice level after about 50 runs, but always struggle with the boss there. Now, I'm too busy trying to rush through the earlier levels, that I get careless and die. Plus, the sandpeople? looking guys in the first area can't aim for shit. Which means when I move to dodge their bullet, I usually end up moving myself into the path of it.
  4. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

    >.> I still haven't made it to the throne.
  5. Life

I don't even know where to get weed. Eh, I'm pretty much done with drugs at this point of my life, I like to be alert and ready, anything that dulls my senses just feels like a terrible idea. So I guess speed is ok, and I've always wanted to try aderall, but they don't sell it in the UK.
  6. Photos of things

    Fuck! Wow! That's incredibly impressive.
  7. XCOM 2

So this is on mac too? I'm down, although I feel like I should at least finish EU first...
  8. Life

Work has gotten so stressful to the point that I get ill every other week. My body is telling me to take a break, but everything else is telling me to get as much shit done as possible. I worked myself to the point I was in bed for a week over Xmas. On boxing day I was back in the lab and worked solidly for a month. Then this last week I've been crazy ill again. It's nothing bad, just a cold, but bad enough that I feel like shit when I wake up and get dizzy if I stand for too long. I only have a month and a half left to get shit done, it doesn't seem feasible, but the more I do the better. Getting ill constantly isn't helping though. I should probably add that I've been working 7 days a week with 10+ hour days since the beginning of September.
  9. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

The replay missions are awesome. I stand by that statement 100% despite a ton of people disagreeing with me.
  10. Feminism

So how do researchers in the US get hold of foetal tissue?
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

Fuck you. I'll shit my pants.
  12. I Had A Random Thought...

I really hate being told what to do by people I barely know or don't respect. I used to be totally for saving energy and being environmentally conscious, but as soon as some asshole tells me I have to. I immediately stop. It's the same for everything, and I know it's incredibly childish, but people telling me to do something I'm already doing makes me furious. I also can't tell if it's because I dislike being told what to do, or it's because the people who tell me are usually strangers (i.e. "it's University policy") or people I can barely tolerate being around. Bah, stupid rebellious streak.
  13. The threat of Big Dog

Project Locust. Perfection. I can't wait until wars are won by deciding who lost the most unmanned drones.
  14. Huh, I got back into it. I don't know why, but it just seems like I hate slow weapons now. I used to be all about big lumbering things that I could take off huge chunks of health, but now I like to get in, slice and dice, then get out. The only problem is...upgrade materials.
  15. 2015's Games of the Year?

Hearing everyone complain about the monsters in Soma makes me actively want to avoid it. I have a very low tolerance for bullshit and I know if I got frustrated even once I'd dump it. I'm glad people actually brought up its weaknesses in any GOTY discussion, otherwise I'd have bought a game I'd probably hate.
  16. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Has anyone here tried learning a new language through a game? I decided to play Pokemon Y with the language set to German. I'm surprised at how much I can work out thanks to knowing pokemon pretty well, but I do have to rely heavily on google translate...
  17. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

That's the boss I struggle with too. I only seem to kill him with Crystal because I can just bubble the damage from his AOE. I always die on the next stage though. I can't tell if those enemies are infinite, or that there are just tons of them.
  18. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I just wanted to gauge the temperature before making the thread. For genres I was planning on choosing one genre each month and 4 games which loosely fit. if that doesn't work, then maybe 3 completely different genres. I'd like to have rules down before starting, but I also don't want it to be too stilted, as that'll put people off. For the first month I was thinking of doing 3 Megadrive games. Since they tend to be easily emulated and I've never owned a sea console in my life.
  19. I wish I knew what Horizon: Zero Dawn meant. Every time I think the words "Horizon" and "Zero Dawn" I feel like they're made up words. They just don't fit together in any way. The character's name too...Aloy. It's like they spent about 5 minutes thinking of that. There's so many awesome Celtic names, but they went with some pun on metal? There's got to be another dumb pun in there with Killzone. Hori-zone? I'm too tired.
  20. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Yeah, I specifically avoided saying finish a game in a month. That's pretty rare for me even at the best of times! For picking them, I was either going to do a vote out of 3, or just have someone suggest something like the cooking thread. The thing I am most worried about ruining the fun is price and availability. How do people see emulators? I'd be happy to use one if I can't access the game, especially if it's something I've bought in the past but have no idea where it is. For things I have easy access to through virtual console or by just owning the system, I think I'd rather just buy the game.
  21. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I was thinking of making a thread about (re)playing great games. The idea would be that we'd all get a month-ish to play a suggested game, then report back and discuss. My main reasoning for this, is that after being recommended Super Metroid when I asked about playing some virtual console classics, I discovered that I absolutely adored the Metroid series. I think it'd be great to discover other things, and hopefully for other people to discover games they didn't know they'd like. I think it'd have to lean towards games available on steam, since that generally cuts the cost down. Would anyone be interested in such a thread? Or are people generally too busy to play a prescribed game like a book club? I know right now I'm lucky if I even have time to turn on my PS4.
  22. I had always just assumed it was the adjective... Residential Evil.
  23. That is such an awful title. It looks like something that came out of a joke "game name generator." I have to point out that Monster Hunter is a fantastic name. It's clean and to the point. You know what you're getting when you buy Monster Hunter. You're gonna be a person hunting monsters. Similarly, Papers, Please is a brilliant name. Man, I should go back and play that.
  24. XCOM 2

That email is just an ad disguised as a response. I've not seen what you emailed, but it looks like they just did a really shitty job of avoiding your question/comments then putting in some marketing material.
  25. Powerball Fantasies

I think they did the same thing in the UK. They increased the number of balls with numbers on, in a (successful) attempt to 1) increase large number roll-overs and 2) entice more people to play thanks to 1). It's pretty gross, but I always thought the idea of a lottery to be pretty gross anyway. I can't believe it's a thing in the USA. I thought it would be anathema to the work hard/get rich/personal responsibility ethos that many Americans have.
