I'm so excited to try out the ipad version. I think touch controls would work really well, not to mention I can carry this fantastic game around with me.
  2. Titanfall

I've always been able to tell between unit types, but I've not noticed he arrow before. I shall look harder!
  3. Titanfall

That's interesting. Sometimes I'll be kicking some grunts while I (think) I'm sneaking up on someone only for them to turn around and shoot before I believe I should be on the radar. Is there a way to see elevation on the radar? I've not noticed anything...
  4. InFAMOUS Vanaman

Me too! Price drop + newer, better, smaller model + huge library. Oh also because I don't have a TV.
  5. Titanfall

I don't think M&K really matters for shooting, but as Architecture said it's all about traversal. I don't think you'll find it easy to get kills while wall running, which is my personal favourite thing to do in the game. Personally I find M&K to be best for everything except for a few 3rd person games and 2D platformers, but that's just matter of preference. I've only messed around with CTF a few times but most of it was spent on defence. Leaving my titan outside was really effective. Does anyone know how you show up on the radar? I can't seem to figure out any reasons for it other when when someone starts shooting, although there seems to be other times too.

The control is a little weird until you notice that boost is also mapped to the triggers. It's sort of like lunar lander with guns, but a lot of guns. I Just progressed out of normal mode, man does it turn up the heat! Bullets and planes and boats and blimps all over the place. Really fun! The number of combinations to make you rauser along with chasing your high score is what the game is about. If you like trying out different things and beating a ugh score it's going to be for you. I believe it's 125 different combinations, with a random option that is fun to leave on and try to find out what works best.

Unfortunately a lot of the time they bring up bullshit.

The problem for reviewers is how do they tell if the noisy backlash is from the loud minority or from a general consensus? Not to mention if they change their minds due to people complaining, they lose integrity. Did you give it a good review because you liked it, or because you expected others to like it, or because if you gave it a poor review, you won't get a review copy in time for release next round? The whole review system is pretty bad, but that's why I like to listen to Idlethumbs and visit the forums. You get multiple people saying what they thought about the game without any of the constraints of being a reviewer. I'm far more likely to play a game recommended on this forum than I am to play one recommended by even a good review site like Giant Bomb.
  9. InFAMOUS Vanaman

I bought a PS3 for the original INfamous. I've completed both multiple times. Absolutely love them. The way you can move around a cityscape so fluidly brings me in and makes me want to play for hours with just exploring. Yeah, the Good/Evil stuff is lame, but it's not really core to the game in my opinion. Not going to get this for a long time. Not only do I need a TV, but the ps4 needs a price drop and a fantastic library for me to jump in. I do envy people playing it, but I'll be patient.
  10. Titanfall

I like the CAR compared to the other SMG. The CAR doesn't show up in the regen requirements though, so I'm avoiding using it until I finish the tasks with the other SMG, which I hate. The range is CRAZY. I recently got the extended mag and I was just blasting people with 3 shots from miles away. I love that gun. I've finished most of the challenges with it so I'm messing around with the others, and now my points and life expectancy has gone down a lot. It's quite sad, but I suppose I'll eventually get better with the other weapons...I hope. I was having issue with the satchel charges as they're impossible to get a kill off with as a last ditch attempt like a frag grenade. Then came the dead-man's trigger. The first time it worked I got a double kill posthumously. That now has a permanent slot in any build using the charge.
  11. BioShock Infinite

This is my response to Bjorn from the recently completed video games thread. I don't want to derail it completely. My response will be in spoiler format... It's absolutely fine to like it, opinions are what makes creative endeavours so interesting. As others said, the beauty of the whole thing is amazing. In my mind it's a game I didn't like and when I see screen shots I can't believe it's the same game. It just looks so beautiful. I just dislike the disconnect between the narrative and the game play as well as certain story points.
  12. Recently completed video games

Don't want to derail this too much so I've posted my reply in the BI thread. Sorry all!
  13. Recently completed video games

I will definitely take that as a compliment. What I hate most about BI is that I finished it. I took all those 9/10 review scores to heart constantly thinking "I'm having fun, I'm liking this game" all the while rushing through it desperate to have it end. How did you feel the ending could have been executed better? To me it felt like a complete cop-out so I'm interested to hear how it could have been good. Maybe it'll make me think differently of BI.
  14. Recently completed video games

How did you feel when you finished it? I felt a little...empty. As though I had just wasted a good amount of time. The so called "brilliant ending" left me thinking "Really? That's the best you can do? Magic meta-physics?"
  15. Titanfall

I'm probably over-reacting. I just really want to like the smart pistol, but the shotgun has me enthralled. It fits my play style perfectly. I'm probably going to switch up to the CAR SMG which I just unlocked. It feels like you can hip-fire in a similar way to the shotgun, but you also get some mid range power. Also I agree about the Triple Threat. I tried it, I hate it. You can't even tell if it's working. The 40mm with burst fire is incredibly boring, but feels powerful and is my go-to weapon for the titan. I've not tried it, but it looks like it relies a bit too much on iron sights which I loathe. I much prefer firing from the hip and giving up range. The mobility in this game makes up for any weapon's lack of long range in my opinion.
  16. PS Vita

So Luftrausers... Anyone picked up this game? It's £5 download if you have PS+ and is a lot of fun. Vlambeer are great, but I've hit a wall with it - I can't kill the damn blimp!
  17. Titanfall

Urgh! I feel like the nerf to the pistol was a little too harsh. I've really started to struggle with that gun now. The shotgun has become my armament of choice almost exclusively. Also the charge packs are fantastic. Once I saw the tooltip in the loading screen that you can double tap E to detonate a charge, I've fallen in love with them. Neogaf seems to praise the carbine, but I just can't get the hang of it. Anyone have any tips for how to use it? I feel like I'm flailing around with it unable to hit anything. Maybe it's the fact I've never played CoD and I've played about 20 mins of BF3, but that gun just feels so difficult to use. Who on here is using a controller rather than M&K? From what I've been reading the aim assist when plugging in a controller is amazing. Maybe that's why I suck so hard with the carbine compared to others...at least I hope so. On the bright side, I finished the "campaign" which I tabbed out during all the chatter, so I have no idea how good or bad it was. Now I get to play around with fully customisable titans. At the moment I'm still preferring the standard one, but have found good niches for the ogre and stryder. The stryder is my pilot hunter. It can chase down and trample/punch pretty much any pilot and with the speed I can farm the AI grunts effectively. I've also had a good time picking off low health titans with the stryder by zipping around and punching them in the back. The ogre is obviously the titan hunter. I'm not too great with it yet, but I've been opting for the static wall, and joining in multiple titan skirmished. I've managed to turn the tide of these skirmishes quite often by dropping the wall or simply standing in front of a friendly titan that's on fire. I struggle with one-on-one titan fights with the ogre, finding the standard or stryder to outclass it. Anyone have input on titan loadouts? Considering they're meant to be game changers, I've not spent much time customising them. Edit: Adding to the already lengthy post...
  18. Titanfall

This is what's constantly confusing me when I play. Do the lines indicate lock, or is there only a lock when it goes red? From what you've said it must mean that red = full and each blue line represents a single locked bullet. I never tested it, but when I panic and fire on a partial lock and kill someone I assumed it was my imagination and I had just got lucky with aiming. Great news. Shotgun and smart pistol will remain my weapons of choice.
  19. Titanfall

That's REALLY useful information. Anecdotally in matches I found my aim decreased using iron sights but that's because I'm pretty shit at using iron sights on pistols. Does the smart pistol lock on individual shots sequentially, or is the "partial lock" my imagination?
  20. Titanfall

I've got to stop reading this. I won't get to play until the weekend thanks to work being crazy, but I need my fix. The point about people running at you like crazy isn't far off. The shotgun just works so well in that scenario though. One thing I'm awful at is melee. I've died in every melee fight thanks to being terrible at melee in first person view. The "Jump Kick" being a one hit kill is kinda frustrating.
  21. Titanfall

Don't have it yet, but I'll equip it when I get it. Yes, I've been doing that, although it's hard to tell when there's a partial lock in my opinion.
  22. Titanfall

Yeah, the problem is that there are a lot of maps that require close range. I really wish I could run shotgun/smart pistol as primary/secondary. In hard point the shotgun seems to be my go to weapon. All those buildings allow me to get some good hits off. Do people even use the secondary? I've pulled it out once but it took so many hits to kill someone I never bothered again. I'm M&K, I prefer the feel of using a mouse to aim, but mostly because I don't have a controller and I'm waiting for xbone controller support. The Dpad on the 360 is not great.
  23. Titanfall

I tried this out. I'm still not sure I'm using it "right." I wait for acquisition and by that time most people have seen and started (or finished) shooting at me. I don't know whether I'm doing it wrong, or whether my playstyle is just unsuited to this type of gun. I've had most success with the shotgun. I'm very much out of practice with shooters (with Halo 2 being the last multiplayer shooter I put any time into), so I tend to pull the trigger first and aim later - perfect for the shotgun.
  24. Thi4f

I've not played it, but it has been on my radar for a while. This thread (along with other people like the Giant Bomb crew) has really made me sad. I like the old Thief games, I wanted this reboot/sequel to be great.
  25. lol probably a little bit of both. I've got to stop reading this thread. Still over a month to go until the PC best version is released.
