Hearthstone: Because what Magic really needed was F2P mechanics
Griddlelol replied to Problem Machine's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah that's very true. I came across a shaman who really destroyed me because I didn't know what he could do. All those 0/X cards made me feel safe enough to leave them. Then he drops another totem which gives those 0/X cards an attack stat, followed by a blood lust meant I got hit REALLY hard one turn without realising it could happen. -
Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Ohh, I bought that last week too. Not tried it out yet but I was going to put some of the mods that update it a little. That sounds a little bit worrying about the combat, but I'm still interested in it - although it's good to go in with that in mind. Everything I've heard is that it's flawless etc, so I could have gone in with that mind set and been like "wtf is this shit?!" -

I think it was a bug. I logged in today after gaining three or four levels last night and got the cards that I should have got. Weird little delay. Tried arena too. The deck building there is difficult! I ended up losing 3 times, but the same thing happened each time. Just as I was building up steam my opponent won. I'd have my strong cards out with my opponent between 10 and 25 health just as I'd hit zero. I think I've figured out my play style though so I can do a little reading. I'm more likely to control. As in Id rather take out minions and set myself up for a final big push, than to chip away at my enemy's HP constantly. -
Me too :'( Really can't afford it though. Such a shame, the WiiU actually has some pretty great games on it.

Hearthstone: Because what Magic really needed was F2P mechanics

Hmm, I'm not sure if it does. I'll try to explain better. When you choose the pve option, it highlights decks you can use. Some of them have a number like 10/20 referring to basic cards as they call it. This would increase when I played mage or warrior pve, but doesn't for the other classes I've tried. So I'm asking, how do I get this number referring to what cards those class decks have available to increase? -

I've tried earning all the basic cards by playing PvE but the number never seems to go up any more. Is it luck, or do they stop handing out basic cards for all decks after a while? I'd like to try out all the classes, but hate running with a deck missing basic cards. -

I love the concede option. I can usually see a few moved ahead, and if I make a clear mistake towards the end I'll hit it. No point in wasting time. I also use it when my girlfriend nags me to stop playing. "You see what you did?! You made me lose!" Then I can proceed to do the washing up while acting indignant and like a video game martyr. -

Oh cool! I've not been playing much recently because I dropped my bike lock onto my ipad. Get sad every time I see the cracked screen. Keep thinking about it though! That and Dark Souls have been occupying my thoughts way too much at the moment. -

Still not ventured into arena yet. I paid for a few packs of cards (basically as a Thanks Blizzard! This is fun!) but I don't want to spend any real money to get into arena. What do you get out of doing arena? -
So how is the online for SG? I'm still kinda interested, I'd quite like to at least be...adequate at fighting games. If it takes a good looking game to teach me it's probably worth it.
-
That's really interesting. I've never played a fighting game for more than about 10 minutes at a party. I generally find them incredibly boring or impossible to get in to. I've looked at Skullgirls a few times because I like the art style - it seems fun and tongue in cheek which makes me want to pick it up. I'm just concerned that I'd have no one to play with and get annihilated online. How long is the single player? I'm not normally one to complain about short games, but when I'm not a fan of the genre I feel like it has to have potential to keep me interested and be worth the purchase.

I loved that I died from the traps in Sen's Fortress. My adrenaline was highest at the very last swinging blades which I fucked up about 15 times. The boss was too easy though. I wish I could do some PvP. Stupid GFWL.
-
Anor Londo is fantastic. For me Sen's fortress is where it clicked. It was difficult but it made me really love the game.
-
Well that's useful to know! I guess I'll be trying that out too.

Oh, I have one. Killzone Mercenary. Meh, it was better than I expected for an FPS on the vita. I'd say play it if you get the urge for FPS stuff and you have a vita, but it's not a must play. I did like the stealth mechanics and the different load outs. They did make me feel like I was playing differently unlike most shooters were the load out doesn't really affect how you play. I only picked it up because I was obsessing over Titanfall, but not at home for weeks to play. It certainly scratched that itch, so it was worth it in my opinion. They've released a bot multiplayer patch which costs £2.50 or $4 I believe. Might pick that up and try the multiplayer. I always enjoyed killzone bot matches.

It's a polarising game. Don't understand why people hate it though. I want to say it's because some people don't "get" it, but it's not exactly difficult to get, so it's probably unfair to say that. It's just a giant, fun joke. Different strokes eh?
-
Gormoungous, the exact same thing happened to me after pinwheel. Put the game down for a bit or pop on the TV while you walk back. I can only say the same thing for the titanite demons - strafe around them and poke them. Run or roll if they leap into the air. I've not tried poison arrows on them yet, you might be able to poison them then go make a cup of tea while it dies slowly.

I'm playing SR 4 at the moment just to chill out, and it really scratches my super power open world itch. It's better than the infamous games I've played, but yeah...it's still a Saints Row game. If you didn't like 3 you probably won't like 4. Shame, I picked up 3 on a whim and have been an evangelist about it ever since. Finally get around to 4 and I feel the same way. It's a different style now, and I feel it both out-infamouses infamous in the way 3 out-GTAed GTA. If you like the infamous games and SR4 is on a steam sale, it's probably worth picking it up. The way you level up your powers is very similar to Gravity Rush on the vita, forcing you to explore and use your traversal powers. Great way to do it in my opinion. I'm interested to find see what you thought of it (in more detail than "meh" ). Infamous was making me consider a PS4.
-
I assume everyone in here has played Saints Row 4...right?
-
I agree, but I'm biased. I have a natural preference for stealth games. I really want to play it now!

! Chaos Theory is fantastic. Personally, I'd skip the Splinter Cell games and head to black list. It's basically a poor man's Chaos Theory, but it's still a good game. I got CT on steam recently for like £3 just to play it again.

Actually I was talking about when he flies up into the air, then crashes down again (the one that killed me more often than not). I forgot about the vomit attack, but I don't think that was particularly hard to dodge if you have stamina. Also, I only locked on when I was side stepping around. Much easier if you don't lock on. Oh and FUCK YEAH. Finally beat Artorias. They key again was not locking on and being incredibly patient. What a rush (: I wish I didn't have a 4 or 5 game back log. I'd really like to try a SL1 run once I'm done.

Indeed, I took him on well after Anor Londo. Favourite boss is still S&O. Loved everything about that fight. Went in feeling like a DS baby, came out feeling like DS had been put on easy mode. I also really liked the gargoyles. Something about 2 on 1 fights really makes me happy despite me finding them incredibly hard. I've not really liked any of the bosses for the Lord Vessel. They all felt either gimmicky or boring compared to those before them. The DLC bosses seem pretty cool though, despite one kicking my ass so hard. I remember my focus being to take off the Gaping Dragon's tail so he couldn't swipe me any more. Then continuing to beat on the tail and stay in that general tail area. I took a beating before I got the tail off, but it was alright once I'd done that part. Most of it's attacks are blockable, except for the crashing onto the ground one.
-
I didn't notice the limp. I managed to get him from like 40% to 0% in one burst thanks to him jumping into a wall a couple of times. It's a good looking boss though.
-
I agree. The Gaping Dragon is one of my favourite fights I've had so far. Great looking creature, well designed. My only complaint is that there's a cliff at the far end of the room. It's bloody impossible to see when you're near it, and you forget about the initial cut scene when you're fighting the boss for the 6th time.
