Well that's just wrong. I've read an article on practically every game-related website saying that the WiiU is terrible and has failed. I remember reading that the Wii is Nintendo alienating its core audience for a cash in with a gimmick. And now there's the whole Miiquality argument, with tons of people calling nintendo a shitty company for acting like assholes. It seems more like you're the one who hates Nintendo so much that you want to see them fail and I don't know why anyone would want to see a company like Nintendo fail. Like others in here have said, I'm no nintendo fanboy. I bought a 3ds, and before that I had a gamecube and an N64. Hardly devoted to them, but I don't see any current reasons for them dying off in 2 years. I'm sure they will eventually fail if they don't change leadership and adopt a real strategy, but that's like every company.

Huh, I didn't think of that. I have a laptop at the moment, but I've been planning to upgrade to a desktop when I move out of my current place. Been dreading it, not only the price, but also I'm convinced windows is pretty much dead and steam will become the default OS for high end Pc gamers.

I've done well so far...I just hope the steam sale comes sooner rather than later. I'm going to have a serious think if project beast has no PC release. I'll need a TV and a ps4. That's not going to be cheap.
-
Argh, the pvp talk is making me want to pick up DS2 so I can experience it! I must bide my time and wait for the steam sale. It's like that old psychology experiment where you give a kid a piece of candy and say if they can wait, they'll get 2. I feel like I'm going to end up like all those poor children, regretting spending £40 on one game when I could get more than that If I only wait.

I don't feel bad about being able to afford a rather cheap hobby compared to many. Some of my buddies are shocked when I make a big purchase like my PC or more recently my vita, but they spend £50/week on alcohol. I know what I'd rather spend my cash on. It's not like I'm loaded anyway, I can't afford a ps4/xbone and won't for a while, but I've spent a good 7 years in university, there's no way I'm feeling bad that I now have a little extra time to play some games. Man, I've never understood golfing. It's about as far from my sport of choice (rugby) as it's possible to get. Different strokes etc.

That's one of the reasons I want to play it. It's a seminal game for many things. The perspective and the button prompts are what's obvious. I watched the Evil Within trailer; it would put me off completely if trailers ever had anything to do with the final game. The marketing department must be awful, or have no idea how to push a survival horror. There's not much decent gameplay footage about unfortunately. This thread is about the spirit (heh) of Dark Souls and all games that are kinda like it in the slightest. Right?

What hobby doesn't require free time/money?

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Griddlelol replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I think I quit that too (South Park). Not intentionally, but I stopped and I don't care enough to go back. I also played a rogue, and upgrading all my bonuses into increasing my attack when the enemy is stunned, only to find out that all the bosses are immune to stun. Great. I was laughing at first, but it's just not really a good game. It'd be a decent TV show though! It's a shame, I really wanted to like it, but the gameplay was just bland. -
I totally played 5 as a coop game with my ex. It was really, really fun. Nothing amazing about the game, but it was great to play with someone. Minot really interested in the others, I've given practically every RE game a chance and not really liked them. 4 is the only one I want to like and keep coming back to. I'm also just very keen on playing more Japanese games. My library and games I've completed is very western. A few scattered JRPGs here and there that I never finished, but not many of the great games. After dark souls I've realised that maybe I just need them to click for me, and it'll open a who area of games I've generally ignored because I find them incredibly user unfriendly. RE4 and Dark Souls seem like the perfect ones to try to do that with - they are both massively popular and inspire some serious fandom.

It's not the control scheme that I hate, it's just I really get an overwhelming sense of dread when I play. It's working as intended, but makes me not want to play. I did make it to a boss once and failed the QTE. I don't even remember what happened after because I turned off my ps2 and never looked at it again. I just know it's the kind of game I will like, I might have to have a really light hearted tv show on in the back ground to help me get over my fear. So pathetic! I tried revelations on the 3ds, but I don't think it fits the handheld format. It's awful for short bursts, it's really something you need to sit down and play for hours at a time.

I like the idea of something drastically hard that you have to perfect rolling and parrying for. Seems like a way to say "yup, I've mastered this game" I definitely will. I just have to get over the hurdle of the first few encounters. I find it really creepy and I usually panic and lose all my ammo within the first few seconds, shout "fuck this" and quit the game for another 2 years until a re-release makes me interested again.

I'm still deciding on whether I should attempt a soul level one run of DS or play RE4. I love hearing people talk who have played so much DS1 that they know all the ins and outs of it, but I feel like RE4 is in the same headspace as DS1 was before I started again. That is, I want to like it, I've tried to get into it, but it can never get over the initial hump. It's been in my back log for years and I think I've got GameCube and ps2 RE4 lying around but I want to play on the PC. Still, a soul level one run of DS would make me feel pretty good about playing that game. Not sure how I'd go about it though, and is certainly wouldn't feel bad using a guide. Maybe RE4 then DS again...

Lol. I love people.

I cracked up at the "sex appeal" slider on the female character creation. In retrospect it was obvious what would happen, but I really wasn't expecting it at the time.
-
This happened last night. The video also has the same character voice I used. The use of music in SR4 is utterly brilliant.
-
You've convinced me. Fuck MGS1, in digging out my GC and hitting eBay for Twin snakes. (Or I might just emulate it).

I'd quite like to join in for the main console series too, plus maybe peace walker. I only ever played MGS4 and I enjoyed it. Ive always found the control scheme puts me off more than anything else though.

Yeah, I get that feeling too. I couldn't tell if I just don't like the game as much, or if it's because I recently played gta v and gravity rush.
-
I knew what I was getting into with SR4. I think I actually 99% completed SR3 but one side mission kept bugging out. So by that I mean I had my fill of it! I was glad to play an infamous type game on my PC.
-
I wouldn't say much better. Probably better though. SR4 is still a really fun game, and is definitely worth it. I got it at 66% off on steam, but I would have paid full price if I didnt have a huge backlog.
-
Oh I know, but it still sucked!
-
Ah, as I played offline, that really makes a difference. I had to look up all the walls which felt wrong.
-
You're so wrong it's painful. Obviously the real answer is G/S followed by R/B. Some people's ignorance astounds me. Also Yellow was amazing.

I'll be surprised if Nintendo die before Microsoft ( well xbox) and Sony. It's also in my nature to support to underdog. If Nintendo release something cool then I and probably shit loads of other Nintendo fans will buy it. Just a shame they released something bad this time around. They are a company run by old men which really needs to change, but I can understand why they don't. It's worked for them constantly. It'll probably work again.

Part of the reason I couldn't be bothered is the worst mechanic hiding it. Illusionary walls are just sad. I hate that they've put them in there. It's so against everything else in the game. Normally it's about having the balls to explore and rewarded by not dying, but illusionary walls reward you for hitting the roll button at random dead ends. Also I had no interest in upgrading my gear. I had my weapon and shield max, I also had my armour at like +8 which is plenty! Only complaint though! I've also started watching the prepare to cry videos. Man I missed a lot of things. Also, the lore is pretty much incredible.
