  1. Intoxication in Video Games

I want a game that explores the problems of drug and/or alcohol addiction. Max Payne 3's story was quite restrained and interesting in how it told Max's problem with pills and booze, but it didn't show that in a ludic way, for the gameplay was all pew pew slow mo. I like pew pew slow mo, but I wish your addictions were something that you could control or affected you during gameplay. That game eot posted looked very interesting.
  2. Alien Isolation - The nightmare of Milky Joe

Cara Ellison just did a write-up for the game! Seems to have the Carachan seal of approval. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/07/alien-isolation-preview Please don't suck.
  3. Alien Isolation - The nightmare of Milky Joe

Bah! So much pessimism in here! Sure, the chances for it being a big steaming pile of shit are quite high seeing how AAA game devs have treated the series recently, but that's still no reason to give up hope, as grossly corny as that may sound. We've had as many good Alien/Aliens game as we've had bad ones, and this could be one of the good ones! I'd be ok with an Outlast approach, with a bit more inventory management and survival stuff. Also, my post is updated with the video gamerTV video, derp.
  4. Alien Isolation - The nightmare of Milky Joe

Oh my god, this looks fucking awesome. Female protagonist, emphasis on survival, no guns, few enemies, clear inspiration from Alien, not Aliens, as is the norm in Video games...FUCK, THIS LOOKS SO GOOD PLEASE DON'T SUCK. Here are the videos from that site, plus an exclusive leak from the game by the games at Video gamerTV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Xnqk12RWWUY http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dlgg9C5XqKE PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK PLEASE DON'T SUCK.

  7. I Had A Random Thought...

I wish Telltale made a game based on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Each episode covers one of the thirteen books. Get on it, Nick.

  14. Plug your shit

Even though this is hilarious and cool, I feel slightly worried that people will legitimately miss the joke and your objective opinions will begin to stand as actual criticisms of games? I mean, this is the internet, and since objectivity has been the holy grail that many gamers wish game review sites would grasp...and then there's the problem of many devs/publishers actually abusing your "reviews" and adding them to their steam pages or websites, etc. Is this perhaps too much of a pessimistic and cynical view? I mean, I know it's easy to get the joke, but this IS the internet, so... I unno', don't mind me I guess. Congratulations on the success, anyway.
  15. New year's resolutions

A podcast about smoking marijuana, Idle Bongs. I guess another resolution is to be less pessimistic I guess!
  16. Recently completed video games

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons The fact that this happens to be the game that I first post about in here says a lot about how fucking amazing it is. It's one of the few games this year I finished, and am super glad I did. It's just a monstrous marvel of a game, one that embraces its medium so perfectly that the experience cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be replicated in any other medium. I am so floored, moved, and astounded by this game that it makes me nuts. Never have I played a game so confident, so resounding, so extraordinarily human in such a long time. Nothing feels like filler, nothing is out of place. THIS is what I want games to be. Games that express themselves from how you interact with its systems and create thematic meaning from them. Hopefully, years from now, this game will be taught as an exemplar piece of ludonarrative. I am anxious when that day comes. I'm nearly in tears right now thinking back on my experience that just ended. Oh, how I wish I'd forget just relive it again. But, I will remember it. I shall never, ever forget it. And I'm glad I will. Such a masterpiece. Goddamn, this game, DIS GAME.
