  1. Sure, but there are loads of bosses in DaS1 that are also not lore relevant, so I don't agree with that point. I guess as a podcast about lore, it makes it a bit hard to talk about? I have yet to listen to bonfire side chat yet. I just found out about it recently. So I might be completely wrong in that regard.
  2. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

One cool thing with the book - Notice the sequence of numbers randomly dotted around the book? You can enter them in at the bottom of the manual (which, btw, is nuts, if you haven't looked at it yet), to unlock some funky videos!
  3. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

I'm pretty sure that there is no female only weapon/item in MH. The Magia Charm is available for guys too, I'm almost certain. I also play as a women though, so I'll have to load up a friend's game to find out for sure. On a side note, the female costumes are so much better than the male ones. Also, to the person who was asking for good armour, the Patisserie set has taken me all the way through to G3, and only now considering changing it. It's really, really, really good. Especially for SnS guys.
  4. The Mega Man Legacy collection came out last week, and I've been slowly burning through all 6 Mega Man games in the collection. I've never really played a mega man game before, so this is a real joy to play. What's even more surprising is how insanely playable it still is, as well as really tight with the controls. What's great also is how well it's emulated. Everything from the slowdown to sprite-flickering is emulated on this, which gives it a really great nostalgic feeling, and is bizarrely enjoyable. I've just finished MM2, and the last boss was the most insane, goofy ending. I can't wait to delve into the 3rd one. So who's got this game? let's exchange strats, passwords and E-Tanks.
  5. Mega Man is still Mega, Man. (Mega Man Legacy Collection)

Why wasn't 7&8 included? That's really annoying. Here's hoping for dlc in the future. Also, there are two things that might entice people: there are challenges that are pretty fun. The ones I played revolved around doing sections/bosses on a time limit. Also, there are kinda save states. However it is kinda cumbersome, and not as smooth as the wiiu's save state system. I tried to use it at opportune moments, instead of relying on it. Like the disappearing block bit in the first one. Or getting to the yellow devil. It made my play through more pleasurable, but maybe the feeling of victory is slightly dampened? Still, fuck the yellow devil. That guys real hard. Oh, there's also an auto fire button, which makes things easier.
  6. Mega Man is still Mega, Man. (Mega Man Legacy Collection)

Sure thing! Here goes: Straight away the difference between the first and the second is subtle, but noticable. Two screens of weapons, the addition of the E-Tank and the graphical change between the two main pickups made it a lot cleaner visually, as well as making it easier to read. Control-wise, it's much the same. It's still as tight as the last one, and just as satisfying. The music is also a lot better. Dr. Wily's theme is outstanding. I could listen to that forever. The level design for the main 'men' are by-and-large outstanding. The Heat Man stage was probably my favourite. The invisible blocks were a work of genius. The timing being so perfect, and then the way it slowly weens you from the safe ground, to the less safe fire, to the cavernous ravine was superb. Air man was probably my least favourite. the giant faces were kinda lame, and were a butt to get through. Going into this, I already knew some stuff about the game, like Air man being weak to wood-man, and that I had to defeat heat-man to defeat wood-man, , so I already had a kinda level strat worked out in my head. I also knew from some preview video that I watched that bubble man was generally considered the first port of call. After that, things got a bit confusing, and I kind fluffed my way through the rest of the man stages. Then the Dr. Wily stages were a mixture of frustration and excellence. The Dragon was fantastic, the box enemies were frustrating until I learnt their pattern, the weird puzzle sensor things was just a pain and required perfect inventory management, as it seemed that only crash both were the only weapon that worked on the enemy and the blocks. Finally Dr. Wily was kinda easy. The last boss was a riot. From a confused 'what the fuck does kill him' to an 'ohhh this weapon' and then the goofy pay-off was amazing. It's so confusing as to why they keep on letting Dr. Wily live, but I guess that's old games for you? Finally, some of the weapons were really pointless. Maybe it was a matter of two many that I got confused, but the Freeze weapon was pointless, I never used it, and never worked out why it's useful. Also the 3rd platform thing I couldn't get when it'd be useful. By and large, I used the wood weapon, the normal beam and occasionally the bubble weapon. Everything else was just used when it was neccessary. Still, it's definitley better than the first one.
  7. I'm pretty sure that's the wrong way. I certainly didn't fight him until after I completed the DLC. He's an optional boss, I'm pretty sure of that.
  8. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

So this might have already been answered, but do I need to play ground zeroes in order to enjoy 5? Is ground zeroes in 5 at all?
  9. anime

Yeah, working is fantastic. I'm loving every episode in season 3. I also feel so sorry for popula. She's kinda thrown by the wayside so far. Also, for junk food anime, I wholeheartedly recommend Himouto Umaru-chan! It's the kinda cute comedy anime fluff that's so enjoyable to watch, and I seem to just want to eat up. It's really similar to Denki-gai, I think. Here is an adorable gif of the show to make you interested:
  10. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Oh what that's how you get special monsters? Well that's my second run ruined. Now I'm thinking of a parody game call Chess of Duty, where you have to hide behind cover after every turn, and reload your hand to move. When a pawn gets to the end of the board, it turns prestige and can call in an attack copter to blow away other pawns.
  11. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I dunno, if it doesn't have achievements, an online leaderboard and runs at 60FPS at 1080i, I don't consider it a video game.
  12. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I'm totally late to this party, but Persona 3:FES is on the PS3 PSN store for £8, and it's a fantastic game if you've never played it. And also a damn sight cheaper than the £50 you have to pay for a ps2 copy.
  13. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

If anything, that makes 2 worse, even more so for it to be so convoluted. I realise 4 is in the same boat, but 4 makes a lot of effort to tie everything up. Also, the thing I love about 4 is otacon. He's such an adorable nerd, that you can't help but love him. All the best bits were with Otacon. Like when snake finds out he stole the octocamo blueprints. That was the best.
  14. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

Oh. Is that all? I thought there was going to be more to it. Like it's genetically altered goat DNA or something. Anyways, update: I finished MGS4 last night. That was a blast! I loved the last boss fight, how it transitioned between all the MGS's was a real delight. It also reminded me how awful the MGS2 fight was. Ultimately I really liked 4. The story was real good at wrapping everything up, almost like it was all kinda planned. My only gripe was that I probably wasn't actually playing the game much. I realise now why people call it a cut scene emulator, because by jove it really is. Not that that's a bad thing, I think, because the plot is interesting and suitably nuts. I was talking to a friend about it, and he wanted to know the order of favourites, so here goes: 3,1,4,2. I like 2, but it controlls like balls, and the story is so overbearingly confusing.
  15. anime

I'm kinda with twig on Madoka. I enjoyed it, but found it quite empty? idk. Also I'm sorry for being a butt and not commenting on all you guys watching school-live. I shall do so when I can! T_T
  16. Idle Thumbs 223: Troll Clone Today

Danielle, was the anime short you mentioned per chance Time of Eve? If so it is a worthwhile watch!
  17. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

Not octopus, the fight after you first meet Meryl in the first act. Laughing Octopus was an awesome fight. I have tranq'd all the bosses so far, thanks to the super useful shotgun ammo, which really makes no sense. The 'Beauty' part of the fights are always really weird and feel kinda pointless? They just slowly walk towards you. What happens if you let them grab you? Also the way Drebin described them as 'sexy babes with war-torn pasts' or something like that made me cringe a bit. I do really like the boss designs though. Also also, why do gekkos make mooing noises? What's with them.
  18. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

So last night I finished act 3 in MGS4. Wow this game is a real mixed bag of stuff. After pushing through that irritating house fight, things really picked up. The stand up moments for me so far have both been in act 2 and 3. 3 was amazing, as tailing a guy through the city was a joy. knocking out guards before he realised also gave me insane satisfaction. What a stupid guy for not noticing eh? Although I did tranq him on sight when he changed into a guard. It was only after he woke up I realised what an idiot I was. Also oh boy does the story ramp up in the third act. Everyone is back, ready to dollop out some big juicy plot nuggets before leaving again. As a random aside, it felt like after the fury fight, there should have been some sewer sneaking fun before meeting ocelot. I guess they didn't have time to put it in? It's very rare for an MGS game to transition places in a cut scene (unless snake is on a vehicle) Also at the beginning of 2, freeing the resistance fighters from the 2 guards pointing guns at them and they then causing a ruckus to which you could sneak through was extremely satisfying. Also in the same act, hiding in the oil barrel to let a patrol pass me unnoticed was super satisfying. Before I started playing the series, the whole box thing was always sold to me as a big ongoing joke. That it actually works is always something I find really enjoyable.
  19. Life

Not if you're as bad a guy as you say you are. You can take him.
  20. 3DS Friend Codes

Also if you want to chat MH4U, you can do it here. We have arranged a couple of games too.
  21. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

The combination of heartfelt Iwata posts and goofy 'smoke weed every day' posts is hilarious. What a wonderfully weird thing the miiverse is. Also, for all of you lucky people in the EU, Xenoblade Chronicles is out on the WiiU VC. There is literally no reason not to play and experience this fantastic JRPG now. You can even play with the gamepad.
  22. anime

Oh boy I'm totally up for watching some Gundam. My knowledge for the whole universe is purely cultural, and not at all because I've watched it, and I've always wanted to watch some gundam. Spotlight anime ey-oh! (I'm the worst. Excuse me)
  23. It's also features on this week's Daft Souls!
  24. Futurama

Sorry, I meant season 6! I didn't know the movies were considered a season! (Which again were hit and miss)
  25. Futurama

The main thing that annoyed me was the inconsistencies with Fry and Leela's relationship. It was so off and on, depending on the writer's mood. I really loved the ending of season 4, and it just felt like they were too scared to progress their relationship. I'd love to be corrected on this, as I kinda stopped half way through season 5.
