    Count me in too.
  2. Video Game mechanics to retire

Is it only me who reads Dishonored as Dish-oh-no-red?
  3. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

Lol. Maybe we can pay for this with some sort of thumb-based bit coin? I'm thinking of "Congrats Nick Brekoin". My naming abilities are awful.

I have a feeling that what Merus describes is something every game designer wants, but due to it's difficulty and how it's probably easy to break, it becomes a morality system, which is an easy binary 'good/bad', as it's easier to implement. I'm sure I've read previews before about AI reacting to this stuff, which is then quickly buried when people realise how hard it actually is.
  5. anime

I didn't much like the zombie ep of space dandy, but the most recent episode was lovely. Really enjoyed it. No T'n'A, just a nice story. Even the art looked a bit different in places. Maybe it was a guest director? Also, I have a bunch of Crunchyroll Guest passes. First come first serve I guess: R5LCCZWUFNU UKHBH8GL5XL 44C7FEG6PFQ
  6. Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

This game is hopefully going to be a huge WiiU seller. I'm so excited for this, and i'm praying to the Nintenlords that they take out Starship Emissary. That was awful. I don't think Melee had a 2nd (or was it 3rd) gen pokemon when that came out. I just thought that Lucario was a) stupidly popular and a close-enough humanoid pokemon that isn't a creepy fucker. (looking at you Mr. Mime and Jinx) O no wait, Pichu. My arguement is invalid
  7. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't May 31st the last day of Q1? Sounds a lot like Japan's release scheduling tbh. The number of times I've pre-ordered a figurine for 'may' and it being shipped on the last day of may. Fuck it, i'm getting it on ps3. The EU release date on PC has now slipped back to 'TBC' Worse than 'TBA' apparantly.
  8. La-Mulana 2

There is a kickstarter for La-Mulana 2. I loved the first one. Has anyone else played it? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playism/la-mulana-2

Fucking hell that's amazing. About the medallions though - Don't war vets put their medallions on their coat, on the breast? not on the sash? Maybe it's both? I haven't seen that many war vets to be honest. Maybe it's a british thing?

The Baseball Card is awesome. Just noticed it said 'DOTA 2' on the shirt! XD Also just realised the tags on this thread.
  12. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Recently they've been announcing the shield design winners for DaS2 on the FB page, and this one has piqued my interest: Especially the description - "Hero of Yore"? so Dark Souls 2 is set in the future? How long has it been since the events that happened in Lodran? What of the chosen undead? Does the ending affect anything? Edit - put pic in spoiler tags because it's too big.
  13. Video Game mechanics to retire

Is Ys the first example of a regenerating health mechanic? I can't think of an older game that has it :/ What's really been bothering me in recent video games (Nintendo ones specifically) is when important words are highlighted in a different colour because we don't want to read the whole sentence, just the key important words. Notable examples: Every Nintendo game Nintendo has made in the last 2 years. Also Achievements. I hate achievements. After a bout of Achievement-free games, I have realised how pointless and meaningless it all is. Fuck Achievements.
  14. Nintendo 3DS

Rune Factory sounds like fun. Kinda reminds me of recettear in a way. Been looking at UK releases, and the highest pre-ordered game is Senran Kagura Burst. Has anyone played this and can vouch for the goodness of this game? Or is it just 3D titties? Coz you know... I have DOA dimensions for that... ¬_¬
  15. La-Mulana 2

I do. Thanks I decided to re-visit La-Mulana as it turns out I still had it installed on my computer. Now I remember why I stopped playing, because I'm stuck on bosses instead of puzzles. Next question: How the flip do i cheese the fish boss? I think the other boss I'm having difficulty on is the minecart boss? Not so sure on that one.
  16. La-Mulana 2

How do you do the falling jumping puzzle in the inferno caverns? It's driving me mad!
  17. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I actually find out of all the NPC's, Solaires arc is the saddest as...
  18. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

To get the summoning stone you have to talk to Solaire of Astora (a.k.a. the sun-bro), which is on the opposite end of the Bridge with the dragon in the Undead Burg (as in the side furthest from the dragon), and say yes to his question twice. If he's not there, he's at the shrine of the sun goddess (I think that's it's name) which is in a little alcove to the right of the bonfire underneath the dragon. I think.
  19. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

Could we not just have a plaque that reads 'Congrats Nick Breakon' attached to an empty frame/canvas? This maybe funnier in my head than in reality.
  20. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Ah, I see. I guess that's because of Germany? I know they love boxed editions. I've been getting back into Demon's souls. It's not as good as Dark Souls. I don't like the nexus level hub, or the healing items, or the item burden, or the world Tendancy. What the flip is the world tendancy? There's also no falling attack, which annoys me too. And that magic is completely OP. But I'm still enjoying the game a lot. XD
  21. I second this. I'd like to know the title of that unity book.
  22. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I got the book. It's really good. Lots of lovely art and a real nice interview at the end. There are many more gems in that interview. I know a lot of people really hate sens, but i didn't mind it as much. I actually quite enjoy it on subsequent run throughs. I've heard people say how sens for them was the stopping point, and for many I think it is. Push on through with sens. The worst is yet to come. The UK has plenty of Black Armour & Collectors Eds for the PC. If they are advertising collectors edition to the EU on PC, i see no logical reason as to why they wouldn't release it in the US.
  23. anime

Thanks - I always forget XD Yeah, Up On Poppy Hill is great. I liked it a lot, but I feel like most Ghibli movies, they excel at world building, and characters, but not plot. I nearly always walk away from a ghibli movie feeling unsatisfied. Apart from Ponyo. That film is the bomb. Also I forgot to mention the best thing about Kids on the Slope - it's about jazz. That show got me more into Jazz than anything else ever did. Moanin' will always have a soft spot in my heart now because of it. And the animation of them playing the instruments is amazing. Especially the drums. Seeing Sentaro's drumming match the music all on the right beat as well as getting that feeling of kinetic-ism of real drumming impressed me the most. Apparently they recorded the people jamming in the soundtrack and then rotor-scoped it. And good rotor-scoping too, not this Aku no Hana bullshit. The less about that show the better. (Aside: I do find it funny that they only had double-digit DVD pre-order sales, and then delayed the release because of it) To show what I mean:
  24. anime

Yeah lol that is a way away. I really love where one piece is at the moment. This ark is really good. I love it when Oda splits up the party.
  25. anime

You haven't even seen franky's final form. Check out this bad boy: Out of all the strawhats, Franky looks the weirdest after the two years. I would have thought that the pompadour originated from like you said, people with attitude and bravado, and I guess that equates to motorcycle gangs in japan. Maybe it was really fashionable to wear pompadours if you were in a bike gang. And the longer the better, obviously. I can see what you mean, but it's so far removed from tropey high-school anime, when I watched it it felt more like a history re-enactment, instead of your Clannad-based affairs (which is tear-jerkingly good in it's own right). It's set just after world war 2, and there are weird themes like Christianity in it. Just like Samurai Champloo, it does not feel like a 'normal' tropey high-school anime, as it felt very grounded in reality and history, and the characters aren't over-the-top or tropey, either. ANYWAYS - MOAR POMPADOARS EDIT: I can't spoiler tag T_T
