Ouran Boast Club - Planning an Anime Podcast
N1njaSquirrel replied to Gormongous's topic in Movies & Television
So I was thinking over dinner, and I think it wouldn't be bad if we had a rough script reference whilst we record. I think it might help us in any lull in the recording. I also think we should choose a host now to captain the good ship mouth flaps. Here's what I was thinking: Intro: Introduce ourselves (I don't mind using my real name. I don't mind if people would prefer to use handles though) Introduce the show, what it's about. What we've been watching LWA: Thoughts, impressions, all that good stuff LWA2 kickstarter Favourite bits. Outro: General wrap up I might make a stupid game that we can play, if you're up for that What to watch for the next episode? Idk, it's a tad bare, but it might be a start? -

Huh. That's now my excuse every time I fail miserably at singing on Rockband (which isn't as often as it should be). I'll stick to my headset then. -
For all you cats in the UK, you can preorder your Splatoon amiibos now. edit: Wow, the combo pack of all 3 amiibos + game + tshirt is already sold out. in 2 hours. dayum.

I mean, it makes sense, as it'll attract a larger viewer base, and the die-hard fans are contempt re-watching it so they can see the added bits. Still blows though. I finished Yoru no Yatterman the other day. Huh. That was a bizarre ending. It started off so strongly as well, to just peter out into nothing. And then the last fight scenes were weird. Loads of repeated animations and stuff. My guess is that they ran out of time, or it was a confusing in-joke about repeated animations in old animes? I suspect the former though.

Podcasts similar to Idle Thumbs

I like Daft Souls, but I feel that sometimes Matt isn't as intelligent as he'd like to be, and that his points maybe aren't that well considered or constructed, and that they don't go into as deep an analysis as I'd like them too. Saying that though, I do really like the podcast, and Matt is a lovely guy. I also really like the Bit Socket podcast. Really funny show with two scottish hosts. It's really funny. -

Yeah, I've backed the LWA2 kickstarter, at a price point that was too much too, but I'm glad to talk about it! I also don't think there's a lack of action either. As far as backed projects go, it's certainly got a more solid schedule of updates, and all the updates seem to be very clear on what they're doing. As for recording equipment, I have a Rockband Microphone, or failing that, a microphone headset. I'll test out how good they are, and if I need to get a better mic I shall do! -

Hey don't forget about me! U,: -
So mainly thanks to this great named thread, I picked up this game. It's pretty ace. There's some really neat weapons, which feel unique and different than what's come before, and there's some cool boss designs too. I also like the writing. The main guy is likeable, and he reacts to things in a logical way too. idk, it's a lot of fun! Who's played it?

I don't think manga's off limits. It'd be especially interesting for when said manga becomes an anime. I suggest we do a pilot, say next weekend? I also think for a pilot we should discuss an anime that's short and sweet, so I'm thinking Little Witch Academia. It's trigger's first attempt at an anime (bar Inferno Cop), and you can compare it to stuff like FLCL and Kill La Kill, and it's only one episode long, so shouldn't take too much time out of peoples lives. It's also ace. Thoughts? -
when they're asleep, it's because they're low on health, and sleeping recovers some (just like when you sleep in a bed). Sleeping for me is the de-facto indicator that they're trappable. If you enter an area too quickly after they've limped off to another location, it can interrupt their route to their sleeping spot, so if you do notice they're limping, hold back a bit and see on the map if they're moving or not. To find your friend code, go to the 3DS menu screen and click on the orange square with a face on it. Your friend code should be displayed below your mii.

Another added use of dung bombs: You can throw them at the enemy when pinned down to get them off you.

VA wasn't as hard as BSB for me. I killed VA pretty easily, but it could be because i killed BSB before VA, which was a harder fight. I'm currently in the forbidden woods now. What a fucking horrible place this is. I can't find a good short route to the boss either, which is really grating me, as I get killed pretty quickly from the bastard. Is it just me, or does the combat feel a bit more stale than in DaS? I find myself using the 2-handed axe's charged R2 attack, which seems to kill most things with relative ease. and the range of the weapon means that i don't usually get hit that much. Failing that I just dash behind the enemy and slash them. I guess it's not too dissimilar to my playthrough of DaS, as I only used the club, but at least I had a lot of weapons I could experiment with. In BloodBorne I feel like the restricted weapon set makes me want to experiment less. Either that, or the other weapons just aren't as powerful as my axe, so I just use that. -
Discussing this with my gf, she raised a couple of good points, namely that most of the guy charachters are based off of real people in the industry, so that means that there's a needed sense of realism there. Also in general there are a lot less women in the industry that they can base people off (apart from seiyuu), and there's also a sense of bishi-ness (I think) from Taro and that glasses guy. Also, moe does sell. If you look at the shirobako posters & advertising that are put in the Japanese anime mags like Newtype, you'd be forgiven if you get completely the wrong impression as to what the anime's about. I'd be more than happy to be a regular! even a main host, if y'all let me! As for where we can put it up, I know a lot of podcasts like Regular Features and Twig-favourite Daft Souls primarily use Sound Cloud to host the actual shows, as I guess it has some sorta in-built RSS for podcasts? -
Dung bombs are your friend in these cases. Throwing one at a monster will force that monster to go to another area, which is super useful when you have 2 monsters in the same area. You can make dung bombs by combining dung and bomb casing. I think you can also get them from the wyvern eventually. I also reccomend the full nerscyila armour, as it gives you trapping expert, which doubles the speed you lay down traps, and another skill that lets you see on the map when enemies can be trapped, providing they're marked on the map. It's certainly saved me more times than I can count!

This video has a pretty consise explanation of the lore and world, and gets into some of the religion aspect. The vid was also endorsed by edmund himself. Check it out, it might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=avCB6HOjsG4 his comment from his site:

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))

So noob question inbound: How do you use runes? I have a bunch, but have yet got the tool to apply them? I'm worried that I've missed something. -
sure, but in those cases they are very different games. Ages/Seasons are two completely different adventures, Luigi U is also an expansion pack to the original, and Smash Bros 4 is on two different consoles. None of them are the same game but with minor differences like Pokemon. The new FE game was sold to me on the stream as one game where you can choose two different paths. To then split that game into two games is just confusing, and to top it off, it was even mentioned that one route is more challenging than the other. And what if I get to the choice where I have to decide and I'm forced down the route with the characters I don't like because of the version I bought? On top of which, for the non-clued in consumer, it'll be a confusing choice, that'll more likely just put them off than anything else.
-
I dunno, I don't think people would be up for buying the game twice to play the different story lines in the UK/US, let alone Fire Emblem, as I get the impression that it's not that popular still over here. We also didn't get MonHun 4 when it came out like 2 years ago in Japan, instead having to wait for the Ultimate edition, presumably because they reckoned it wouldn't sell well twice over here.
-
What really? I got the impression that you'd get to choose the side in the game, not that there are 2 games.

My favourite so far is the SUPERHOT team's april fools, SUPERQOT, which is Super hot, but in the quake engine. And it's actually a real thing you can play! Awesome!

Weird! I found Yarnham to be really very unique and memorable. I could easily map things out. Huh, I did that, but I can't remember what I got from there :/ or -

Re: Spoiler - -
PS+ for april has been announced. The list is as follows: Tower of Guns (PS4, PS3) Never Alone (PS4) Dishonored (PS3) Aaru’s Awakening (PS3, PS4) Killzone Mercenary (PS Vita) MonsterBag (PS Vita) Honestly I'm a bit bummed, as I already own Dishonored, Never Alone and Tower of Guns on the PC. But I might play Tower of Guns again. The only game I'm looking forward to is Aaru's Awakening, which is a game I was very close to buying the other day.

We could just get mington to rename this thread. Edit: As much as I love DaS2, the lack of a save transfer is a real killer for me. Unless there's something that's totally worth my time, I don't see myself going back to Majula any time soon. That and bloodborne is just taking up all my time. Also, it's sad that the team within From that made DaS2 are just called 'b-team' now.- 1284 replies
