Threw up an event for Nightfall. Let's swear about Bungie not putting in a burn this week. Vis a vis the clan thing, I'd be interested in getting involved in something slightly more serious, but my work/life schedule doesn't really allow for it right now. Maybe later in October...

I was thinking about that run earlier today and I wonder what the optimal team composition is for that. I feel like arc blade hunter, sunsinger warlock, and defender titan would be ideal for cutting down on the stress of that last mine round.

My two cents: I've heard Efrideet's Spear has been nerfed and can't have the same set of perks that it used to but I bought it anyway since people still seem to be using it. I took a pass on Timur's Lash.

Oh oops, I didn't realize there were two separate cheevos for that. Oh well :S
-
All-Thumbs Skolas kill successful! (PS: This counts for the "complete a raid with a fireteam that's all clan members" cheevo) Thanks to spork and dj for all their help and a shockingly minimal amount of "taint" jokes.

Threw up an Iron Banner 100 game for tomorrow night, just looking for some people to have fun/chat with rather than "(the silent frustration of watching your matchmade team try to cap the third point)".

Yeah, I get that destiny-servers-unavailable thing as well, and I definitely think it has to do with putting your PS4 in rest mode. I've been using the "restart PS4" option though, have to try just closing Destiny.

This comment, combined with the musical choice and watching Hannibal yesterday, made me imagine Mads Mikkelsen-as-Hannibal Lecter with a glass of wine next to him while headshotting suckers in Trials. "The Trials passage must be without flaw to travel to the Lighthouse. Tell me, Will, what would it mean to be free of imperfection?"

I've been playing Crucible a lot for the first time in a while with a sort of eye towards Iron Banner/Trials of Osiris stuff. Just hanging back with Bad Juju has produced some pretty spectacular results, I gotta say.

ah crap that's right, never mind, I'll hold off until after IB is over

Would people be interested in running Skolas Friday evening/night? I finally have a 34 and it's the last thing I need for the Year 1 emblem.

Queen Bounties from Petra. She'll give you one a week and you can sometimes find more in the chests that spawn after you kill the Wanted bounties. In terms of it being worth it, though, the first opening of the big chest on each character is what really counts, because that's when you have the highest chance to roll an exotic. I usually open it every time because I have a boatload of keys across my characters and I can't resist, though.

It's all good, wasn't trying to point fingers or anything. Jon, is there some kind of master list floating around out there somewhere of the guns to be on the lookout for? I never have any idea of what's trash and what's not.
-
Yeah, it was a rough time, but hopefully we can round up six people and blast through it. Is Spare Change .25 one of the "good" legendaries? I can never keep all of the names straight

Still looking for more people for VoG! Need 2 more right now

My revenge on Xur for last week (I had a ton of strange coins and was waiting to see what gun he'd have): getting Armamentarium from an engram.
-
I put up a PoE event for tomorrow night. I'm hoping to snap up the armor pieces for my hunter/titan to get them closer to 34, but I'm open to whatever combination of events people want to run.

Props to Mechanations and Nightfall pinch hitter extraordinaire JonCole, who helped me get Hawkmoon tonight. :3

Still lookin' for one more to run some Nightfalls at 8:30 (PM EST)
-
Between Xur last week and the Nightfall/Heroic this week I'm wondering if the Bungie RNG is losing it
-
Probably like 7/8 PM EST?
-
anyone up for an extremely belated nightfall tonight? aprettycooldude and I are probably going to run it since I leveled my titan to 32 over the weekend

Here's my take as someone who got back into it recently: There are basically 2 big end-game activities: - Trials of Osiris: This is the PVP endpoint (for lack of a better word). It's like Iron Banner but even more punishing (how good your loot is is tied to how well you perform - if you don't win a lot of games, you're going to have a hard time getting the Osiris set items/weapons) and running every weekend . I haven't played it yet because I'm intimidated by the level of teamwork that seems to be involved in winning a lot and I don't seem to see a lot of events get created for it. - Prison of Elders: This is the PVE endpoint and is a rough approximation of Firefight from Halo, with players going through different waves of enemies that culminate in a boss fight. It can sometimes be very frustrating (there's little to no explanation of the different bosses' mechanics, so if you haven't done a fight before or Googled for info it can be very confusing) but I like it. I haven't done the Skolas fight, which is the Big Final Boss of the game right now in terms of level, but people seem to have mixed opinions about it. If I have one big complaint it's that the rounds (especially the ones with objectives mixed in, like "kill this VIP") seem to take forever and the arenas don't seem to have any gradation between "this is a safe place" and "this is a place where enemies will kill you" - you never Overall, I've been having fun. I usually log on and do the daily bounties, knock out the Nightfall one or two times for the week, and sometimes I do a raid or Prison of Elders on the weekend. I'd like to try doing Iron Banner now that I have a character at the level cap with some maxed out gear. Sometimes I wish there was more new stuff (which seems to be the eternal refrain of Destiny) but it's a nice game to play when I get home and don't have the brain bandwidth for something else.

So, uh, no hot takes on the weapons rebalancing yet? I'm glad that they seem to be taking another look at auto rifles (from what I can gather)

Sorry to double post, but would it be weird if I were to put up a Crota normal mode/hard mode game for Saturday evening? I feel kind of weird creating a game for a raid I've never run before.
