  1. Solitaire: The Lonely Hearts Club

I've been playing Churchill Solitaire (it was mentioned on a Thumbs episode a long time ago) and it's killing my brain. I managed to beat the tutorial levels, beat the first deal in the "campaign", and now I'm stuck on the second one.
  2. I just wanted to note for the Hacking Episode that I've been watching Person of Interest based on Rob's recommendation a few episodes ago and it's crazy good. I can't believe someone at CBS not only signed off on this, but also signed off on the crazy fourth season. It's much, much better than I thought it was going to be.
  3. I just wanted to say the Quadrilateral Cowboy release trailer is easily my favorite game trailer of the past several years. The typing as the rhythm/metronome to the whole thing is so good.
  4. Whoa we're doing a Harry Potter podcast?

Please tell me the hosts will be taking the "what house are you in" quiz and comparing results.
  5. Mouth Feel - The Summer Wizard Cocktail Jam

Crap, ok, one more: [unmasking] The Brain Burglar
  6. Mouth Feel - The Summer Wizard Cocktail Jam

I love cocktails but am bad at coming up with new ones so here are some episode titles/title fragments to hopefully jump-start someone else: A Farewell to Junior Mints (creme de menthe?) Spector's Oil A Refined Baby [The Curious Case of] The Rhode Island Reader Cyberpunk Cop-Killer Please don't: Poopwater [New Mexico]
  7. Thanks for reading my letter! (Sorry, I'm way behind on podcasts.) I really enjoyed the discussion (and like Danielle, I was totally convinced by Rob's line of reasoning).
  8. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I bought the PC version of Dark Souls after playing my old 360 copy at my parents' house over the weekend. Am I missing something, or is the multiplayer still broken? I don't even see the soapstone notes.
  9. Playscape: Los Angeles - Brendon Chung

Thanks guys, sorry for immediately crapping up the thread with weird URL questions (it was a slow day at work). I promise to go listen to the episode now. :S
  10. Playscape: Los Angeles - Brendon Chung

Was there something weird that happened with Playscape and Tone Control, or is the episode manager for the Thumbs network quirky? The URL for this is https://www.idlethumbs.net/playscape/episodes/brendon-chung-1 but https://www.idlethumbs.net/playscape/episodes/brendon-chung (no -1) takes me to the Tone Control episode with Chung, but the URL is still /playscape. Is there something that enforces unique episode page URLs or something? (sorry, I work at a CMS company and am curious)
  11. Idle Weekend March 4, 2016: Soft Spots

Delighted to hear that Rob's been enjoying Morrison's Batman and Robin (I ran and got my laptop as soon as he started talking about it). I agree totally that Irving's art in the final volume just doesn't fit that well, and the ending isn't perfect, but it's still my favorite comics run, hands-down (and really what got me into reading comics at least somewhat regularly). I'd be interested to hear what he thought of the other parts of the storyline that weren't discussed on the show (The Black Glove, Final Crisis, etc.) if he's read them. Worth looking up is the Klarion storyline in Morrison's meta-series Seven Soldiers of Victory, which reteams Morrison and Irving but on a very different story, and I think Irving's art works much better there.
  12. One Day In San Fransisco

The two San Francisco restaurants I fantasize the most about returning to (I used to live in the area) are San Tung in the Inner Sunset for chicken wings and Rhea's in the Mission for sandwiches. You can hit Rhea's for a sandwich and then walk a few blocks to Humphry Slocombe for ice cream, too.
  13. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

Oh, so that's where that thing is. I never touched that while I was there.
  14. Can someone tell me what everyone is hearing in the intro? I am clearly missing it.
  15. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

I finished this the other night, loved the shit out of it. I was just about having a heart attack on the walk to Cottonwood Creek/Wapiti Station, constantly turning around to see if there was some guy behind me. One thing I don't think anyone's mentioned in the thread, though, that I never found an explanation for: there's this ruined shack with a firefinder, a guitar, and a bunch of other stuff that looks like it came from the same supplier as the stuff at Henry's tower. The Goodwins were clearly staying in Henry's tower, so what's the story with the shack?
  16. From the Myst/Witness cuisine discussion, and because I read the New York Times food section a lot during my lunch break: wondering if The Witness is less "deconstructed adventure game" and more "local/Slow Food adventure game"? I'm trying to think of the word for the cuisine movement that's about revisiting classic dishes with a modern eye towards ingredients but the term is escaping me (or might just not exist and my brain is messing with me).
  17. What is the source of/who recorded the version of Auld Lang Syne that plays at the beginning and end of this? It seems so familiar but I can't place it.
  18. Destiny

I'll be online tonight and tomorrow night for Iron Banner if anyone wants to join up on me. I just need the helmet and my space knight cosplay will be complete!
  19. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Extremely brief synopsis of the run-up to Secret Wars/Secret Wars itself My understanding is that Secret Wars was supposed to act as a sort of "soft reboot" for the Marvel universe and allow them to start over with a bunch of new stories that, while not being quite as bound to the status quo, still respect past events. (e.g. the new Iron Man title clearly has new changes to the established order of things, but it takes for granted that Tony Stark has been Iron Man for a while and presumably has done all the same stuff). Of course, the main Secret Wars title has been delayed, so we're now getting these new series without knowing exactly what happens in Secret Wars to cause all these changes. (My understanding is that the Last Days Of stuff is meant to be a wrap-up for the pre-Secret Wars ongoing titles - I've just been reading the main Secret Wars book because I was reading the Avengers/New Avengers stuff leading up to it.) Edit: And don't be afraid! I've been reading the "new" Iron Man/Thor/Ms. Marvel and have enjoyed them! (Iron Man has a truly great visual gag in the first issue.) Can't wait for the new Black Widow title.
  20. Destiny

I put up an event to run Darkblade for exotic swords on the100. I think there's still some people out there who haven't done this yet?
  21. Destiny

I'm still around :| I usually do the dailies and play a little crucible. If anyone wants to try and do trials this weekend I'd be interested (although be warned that I am not MLG Pro)
  22. Destiny

First Firewall is live again today, for anyone who hasn't run it yet. I put up an event tomorrow to run the SABER-2 variation that's needed to get Sleeper Simulant (and also to run the Hunger Pangs Undying Mind variant because that's been sitting in my quest log for too long)
  23. Destiny

Would people be interested in a dead ghost/calcified fragment hunt party some night? I was planning on going through destiny ghost hunter and just trying to get as many as possible. I have all of the vanilla Destiny ones but not all the TTK ones.
  24. Destiny

For the record, that final bit of the No Time to Explain quest is NUTS. Black Spindle is very recommended.
  25. Destiny

It's fine, no big deal, I'm sorry that we ended up delaying it. The Nightfall rewards patch seems to be For Real, though - we had a Hereafter, a STAG, and a stack of 10 Three of Coins drop. Poll time: how many people are at the "Kill Atheon" phase of the No Time To Explain quest? I know I am and I think Mechanations is?
