  1. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

All that stuff is old, and therefor we'd be REGRESSING. Therefore regressive. C'mon folks, it's so obvious. Move forward, get out of the SJW past.
  2. I've got a PS4 in the house only because my daughter had one when she moved back in. And I hardly ever use it. I think I've played 3 things total on it (PT, the Metal Gear thingy and something else). I'll probably pick up Bloodborne when it comes out, but one thing having a PS4 around has convinced me is that when she moves back out on her own, I'm not going to buy my own PS4.
  3. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

It's exactly the attitude that says women are naturally not attracted to math, or don't enjoy the sciences, or that they aren't good with complex machinery. Because men like them don't want women in spaces they think of as theirs. In the uncondensed version of that thread (with all the noise from their respective followers), there's a fascinating exchange with Adrian in which someone provides sources showing that the male readership for romance novels is statistically the same as the male readership of all fiction (~20 percent). Not conclusive, but the point being that 1) romance novels have significant numbers of men reading them and 2) it's not unreasonable to expect that if overall fiction reading by men increased, the number of men reading romance fiction would increase as well. And that all sails right over Adrian's head and he takes the sources she linked to as proof he was right.
  4. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Wow, that led me to this absolutely stunningly informative and obviously factually accurate and well researched exchange on how gender shapes gaming preferences. tldr: Women don't like certain games because biology, and that's why god made hidden object games for them and men have DOTA.
  5. One of my roommates and I used to play NFL Blitz the same way, but we'd just do a drink of beer rather than a shot, since you could run up 50 to 60 point scores in a 15 minute game. On the DMV part of the 'cast, do y'all not have the groovy newer DMV's with no waits? A few years ago, the KC ones upgraded to a system where I can just text in, reserve a spot in line, the system texts me back how long before I need to get there, I get there, get right in, get my shit done and leave. I haven't had to wait at a DMV for years.
  6. The only games I like when drunk are fighting and sports games, because those become hilarious.
  7. Sports

The Big 12, fucking things up like no other this year. Seriously, both of you? You were 3 seeds. Edited to add: I didn't realize how many ISU grads I knew. The public gnashing of teeth on Facebook is actually pretty entertaining. Also, if Embiid jinxes KU by picking on Cyclone fans, I'll be pissed.
  8. Come to America, we have tools.
  9. I was just chiming in on how much I like Harbor Freight. Maybe you should move somewhere that has a Harbor Freight!
  10. Kojima to leave Konami after MGS V

Huh, that reads as considerably more dire than anything previously though. Everything I remember from years before is mostly just Kojima saying he's thinking about leaving once X project is finished.
  11. Harbor Freight, if you watch for sales, is genuinely fucking amazing on the tools you can get cheap there.
  12. Chris: This is Idle Thumbs 202. Danielle: Two hundred and Number 2. This is a quality way to start an episode, I approve.
  13. That was a super interesting article, thanks Ben! I guess I knew bits and pieces of a lot of those stories over the years, but had never seen them stitched together in one place.
  14. I really couldn't tell if you were trying to be funny, or if you didn't know he had dealt with it at all, so just figured I would point it out. For the record, should I ever write a book, the first thing I will do is badger my friends to write good reviews for me on Amazon. I am part of the problem in ethics in book criticism.
  15. Backlog Busters

I use HLTB so much now. Usually when I've got a free evening and I want to find something in my backlog I can play through in a single session.
  16. Hasn't Justin spoken about having some pretty severe anxiety problems himself? Okay, just checked myself, and yeah, he has. Even started finally going to therapy for it last year.
  17. 56 days after opening a case, Logitech has finally agreed to ship me out a new mouse. I ultimately ended up sending them three different pieces of proof that I had purchased it from Newegg. The final one was a new invoice generated by Newegg last week. To compare customer service, I contacted Newegg about needing an invoice for a warranty, and less than 8 hours later I had it.
  18. Cartoons!

We finished Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated this evening! That was a blast, legitimately the most fun I've had watching television in a long time (since I trend towards watching "serious" television). The final four or five episodes were genuinely surprising in what they were willing to do to the characters and town, to the point that I was genuinely surprised several times. Probably the most tragic/weird thing though is the very end:
  19. PL4YST4TION 4

I really want to play Bloodbourne while it's fresh, exploring DS2 in the first couple of weeks when no one knew what the hell was going on was a blast. I just know what my schedule is like over the coming months and I'm not seeing any chances to get deep into it.
  20. PL4YST4TION 4

I played it on Steam, it was fun and short, but I'm absolutely awful at schmups and was never able to beat the last level.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm super happy we're both on board with how cool this movie looks!
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

Y'all take things a touch seriously sometimes. It looks like a dumb, fun disaster movie.
  23. Life

Sorry to hear that, even when you know it's coming, it doesn't necessarily make it any less difficult to get through.
