The line for me is my relationship to the woman in question. If it is someone who is at the casual friendship level, I'm not going to engage in that. But if it's the women in my life who I'm the closest to (my daughter, my partner, friends I've had for a decade or more), then yes, I'm going to engage in a conversation with them. But in all those cases, these are people that we've talked for hundreds of hours about all sorts of things.
  2. Using the character I restarted with a few days ago, I've about caught up to where I was (exploring the Forbidden Forest), and an Arcane build is pretty fucking cool. It's still an aggressive melee build, because there aren't many other options in this game, but it feels quite a bit more diverse. Spoiler for equipment if people want to discover it themselves:
  3. C'mon guys, it's Nintendo. They can do better than that. They'll just call it the: Wii Nu
  4. Backlog Busters

My gaming time was something like 90 percent Binding of Isaac and Dark Souls 2 last year, so yeah, BoI is not going to help whittle down the list if you get into it.
  5. Cities: Skylines

It would be incredible if a sim modeled emergent community protection groups, which could then spiral into other unintended consequences.
  6. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Having read the interviews and stuff where McMillen talked about his grandmother, his parents and the differences between her Catholicism and their Evangelicalism, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that this was just a poorly thought out April Fool's Joke. I disagree with Merus, I've never had the perception of him being edgy for edgy sake, and just pretending to be a thoughtful, but severely broken in some ways, person. Yes, it's a shitty paragraph, and worth criticizing him for. But I don't see how one April Fool's joke is enough to have me radically reverse the opinions I have of him.
  7. The G9x is probably my favorite mouse ever. Like you said, it's unassuming, but still looks nice. It fits my hand great. And the build quality I thought was excellent (except for the spring on the left click).
  8. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

It's great now that we have digital manuals, but as a kid renting/borrowing games, I can think of twice that I got really screwed by not having access to that material. I think it was startropics that had a combination lock where the code was hidden in the artwork of the manual. But I didn't have it, so I bruteforced a 3 digit code until I got it.
  9. I am mid-50s, though I'll probably be 60 before I get it finished. I don't know how much you can over level in this. Co-op matchmaking is generous from what I understand (+/- 10 levels + 10 percent of your current level). So at 55, you could co-op with levels 40-70. And your gear is still going to be gated by upgrade materials, so you're not going to overpower just through stats alone.

That also looks really useful! I was just really psyched about turning my phone into a universal remote, it's a bummer that the Nexus doesn't get an IR transmitter.
  11. Sorry, but I loled hard at that. Mostly because I know that feeling so well. Two nights ago I was in the Forbidden Forest, had been being really careful. Found a ravine with a couple of big enemies in the bottom of it. Looked around, didn't see anything else, so figured I'd just firebomb them to death from above. Got ready to chuck the first molotov and SOME MOTHERFUCKER JUST PUNCHED ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD, OH GOD, I'M DOWN IN THE RAVINE, NONONONONONONONO. So I opened up several news stories to read this morning, including this interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki, which I'm sure I found that link on these forums, and now I can't find what thread it was linked in. It's a fabulous interview.
  12. And on the 69th day of wandering in the mouse wilderness, the UPS Driver dideth deliver upon me a new mouse, a G502. This thing looks like an angsty teenager compared to my G9x. It feels cheaper than my G9x, but it's got rave reviews, so maybe I'm just being overly critical. Logitech did not have me ship the G9x to them, so now I can try and repair it as well! I'd really dig holding onto it if I can get the left click fixed.
  13. As far as I know there are three people (windows/doors) in Central Yarnham that have something you can do with them. If you don't want to hunt for them all by yourself, they are: My first time though Yarnham, I found it super disorienting. But now that I've run through it bunches of times farming vials/bullets, I know it really well. You have to...
  14. That's actually one of the things I wanted to build a character around... There is so much more sadness there than you know. So much. If you hadn't found the next part...

Thanks all! That gave me a good starting list to get some stuff. I got really excited about the universal remote, and then found that the Nexus 6 doesn't have an IR blaster built into it.
  16. You can stagger enemies into a visceral attack with throwing knives, including bosses. *mind blown again* I went out for a few drinks with friends tonight, and when I got home I thought it would be a bad idea to play my main, so I made a new character to build towards some of the other equipment I've found. I stocked up on a bunch of cheap knives and Molotovs for the Cleric Beast, and managed to stagger and then visceral it just chucking knives while waiting for an opening to attack. Also, knowing about backstabs, the Father was a cakewalk. Backstabs in general made the opening section a bunch easier, several of the enemies I found most challenging are able to be snuck up on.

So I got a $50 credit to the Play Store for buying a Nexus 6, and I have no idea what I should spend it on. I think I've spent like $5 total, ever, in the Play Store. Any suggestions on quality paid apps that are really worth having?
  18. I really really really thought about making a new thread: Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin ((Dark Souls 2 Successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))) Bloodborne Sibling)
  19. Holy shit, that's better than most horror collections I've read.
  20. Cartoons!

Yeah, I don't want to equate generally asocial behavior (in the, "I don't want to be around other people at all") with asexuality or aromantic, I was just reading Merus' comment as having to do with being asocial more than the other two. But the negative health outcomes don't actually have to involve severe cases of isolation at all. I'd need to go searching for some of the stuff I've read, but on average most of us need a minimum amount of positive social interaction a week, or it can start a trend towards negative health effects. Particularly with depression, a feedback loop (depression makes you not want to socialize, less socializing makes depression worse, rinse, repeat) can set in over the course of months or a year can see social interaction steadily dwindle to almost nothing, but the process starts on the small scale.
  21. Cartoons!

I had to do a doubletake, but ultimately I read it the same as you (in part informed by Merus' past posts on other topics and the thought brought to them). We are social animals though. I've never seen anything (anecdotally or science based) to indicate that a lack of regular social contact has anything but negative long term impacts on someone.
  22. Scholar of the First Sin comes out tomorrow on PC (and a week later for the consoles)! Man, sure am glad I'm not already obsessed with another Souls game to play right now....oh, wait. It's probably good for From though, with all the ballyhoo about Bloodborne, X1 and PC players who want in on some fresh Souls action have something to buy. I think most of this information had been dribbled out, but there's a cohesive FAQ up now about the Scholar edition. On PC there are special upgrade prices, $30 for existing owners with no/some DLC and $20 for existing owners with all DLC. The biggest, and completely expected, bummer is that you can't transfer saves over. So long Ninja Turtle and Butterfly Ali, your time was glorious, but it is at an end.
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I remember playing that as a little kid, and don't remember it being explicitly taught by anyone else. Though given the surprising number of times that lava appears in popular media versus how few of us encounter it in real life, it might just be the kind of thing that in the last 50 years is a common thing to stick in a kids head because of how exotic it seems as a danger.
  24. New people: Read this, say hi.

OMG, Lego Scooby Doo, that's badass. I concur with Mangela, you're now the coolest person I've encountered today. I got sucked into Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated a couple of months ago and it completely re-ignited my childhood love of Scooby. And welcome to the forums!
  25. FWIW, the frenzy defense matters a ton. I was wearing one of the church sets for it's high poison resist when I was running around a poison swamp, and forgot to change. Warped to the Cathedral with the crucifix guys, and one of them tagged me with a single hit, and it was enough to fill the frenzy bar and kill me. Turns out the church sets have almost no frenzy defense. Went back to my hunter garb, and took a hit just to experiment, the meter only filled to about half and increased much slower.
