  1. XCOM Enemy Unknown

Past a certain point, my standard loadout would be 2 heavies, 2 snipers, a support and an assault. Late game the damage that they can throw out, particularly on robots, is essential. Even early and mid game, the 2-3 rockets they have have make a huge difference.
  2. Social Justice

  3. Black Lives Matter

The history of charismatic preaching, Christianity and the fight for civil rights are all heavily wrapped up together in the US. It's not that it's a secular or religious issue, but it is that African Americans are much more likely to be religious and to use that religion as part of every facet of their lives.

Criticizing her original email is fine, as it honestly had some pretty dumb/ignorant things in it (particularly in the second half). I could break it down, but it's late and I'm tired. But, if the article is correct about people hounding them, harassing them, attempting to get them removed from at least one of their positions...no, that's not okay. That's the nuclear flyswatter approach. I firmly believe that everyone has to have some room to make some mistakes and learn, and that email seems like a prime opportunity for some discussion and education (on the staff/faculty side needing to learn things).
  5. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I got to, and beat on the second attempt, the new super boss. A friend had clued me in on how to get to it, and quite frankly I'm glad they did, as I don't think I would have found it otherwise. Neat fight, I arguably like it considerably more than any of the other final boss fights.
  6. Black Lives Matter

He was chanting "in the name of" and the crowd was replying with "Jesus!".
  7. Ugh, I didn't know that. I'm okay with the alt-universe thing in the films for this stretch of movies, but I don't want that to become the new canon.
  8. I played, and enjoyed, Uncharteds 1 and 2, but nothing was so special about them to ever get me to bother to play 3 (even though I ended up owning it). They were particularly pretty games at the time of their release, so there's that.

The AI in the original was charmingly hard to predict, which is what made it great. You couldn't force group heroes, they either decided they wanted to run around together, or they didn't. Gnomes would eventually abandon their building projects, and spend all day playing at the fair or chasing down bounties that they had no business chasing (though at very high level they could be pretty badass). I played a lot of multiplayer in it, and I remember one session where my buddy and I had a pair of warriors (one paladin and one death knight) hammering on eachother for like an hour because they each had a healer type unit backing them up and couldn't actually kill one another. It was often just entertaining to watch heroes wander and around and see what they were going to decide to do.

Majesty remains one of my favorite games of all time, and the last time I tried Majesty 2, the original was still better than it by a long ways. But that was before a bunch of patches and expansions, so maybe 2 eventually got improved. They botched the AI in 2, and from everything I knew at the time of launch, it was pretty much unfixable. 2 comes so, so close to being right, and then just isn't, which is a massive bummer to me.
  11. New Star series is being produced for a 2017 release (expected to be the flagship program for CBS' streaming platform and not on on the main channel).
  12. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

Meet the new bugs, same as the old bugs.
  13. Black Lives Matter

The shit going on with Mizzou, racism, and their football program is fucking nuts.
  14. Day of the Devs 2015

Thanks for the pics and recap!

  17. Intoxicated:

    Btw, I'm druink.
  18. Intoxicated:

Holy hell I'm as drunk as I've been in a couple of years. When the guy who runs the local blacksmith's forge offers you his homebrew cider, be very vucking carefula bout saying yes. Whooo!

Yeah, the sign up bonus for new subscribers this month is Towerfall Ascension. That looks to be the plan, new signups get one game immediately, but you have to be an active subscriber when the package goes live to get all the games. I'll stay subscribed for awhile I think. I really backed off buying bundles about a year and a half ago, so my library hasn't grown a bunch over that time. The liklihood of getting games I don't own is pretty high.
  20. Got my old Dell monitor fixed! Now I've got to figure out why I've got some serious screen tearing going on every time I scroll windows. Probably linked to having one vertical monitor, I'm guessing. Spoilered bigass picture

Holy hell, the Humble Monthly thingie is starting off strong. Saint's Row IV Towefall Ascencion Besiege Valkyria Chronicles Lethal League Sanctuary RPG Legend of Grimrock 2 (included I think just as a bonus for having signed up early) I'll be honest, I was not expecting that number or quality of games. The only one I had previously owned was Valkyria Chronicles, and everything but Lethal League are things I have wanted to play at some point.
  22. I Had A Random Thought...

An acquaintance I know will deliver/perform singing telegrams. She's a semi-professional performer, and singing telegrams are one of the ways that she brings in some extra monies.
  23. Wasteland 2

The big nerf is that they changed the Disparnumerophobia quirk to be +1/-1 instead of +2/-2, which functionally removes 7 stat points from one of my characters. I actually agree with the change, I think that quirk was head and shoulders better than every single other quirk. But I built a character with the assumptions of having +2s, and I would have built the character differently if the bonus was going to be lower. There's also a bunch of bug fixes and stuff that are really nice, so avoiding the patch because of that one change isn't really worth it. Mostly I just wish I could respec and fix that character without having to go in and edit a save file.
  24. Wasteland 2

So a big patch dropped for this, and in the changes were some significant buffs and a few nerfs to perks and quirks. This kinda bugs me. In a large, 80+ hour single player RPG, some of these changes represent either significant changes to existing characters, or better possible uses of perks/weapons going forward. If there was a way in game to respec, I wouldn't consider it a big deal, but it feels wrong to change a player's single player game, altering their characters from the design that they made at character creation. Like, theorycrafting and character design is one of the primary things I love about a game like this.
  25. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Haha, the Greed machine now allows donations over 109.
