There's actually a 5th movie as well. It stars Malcolm McDowell and Ed Asner. How the mighty have fallen.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Bjorn replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Woot! Got the Black Armor edition even though I didn't pre-order. Ran into Hastings over my lunch break to pick it up, and they had 2 extra copies of the BA edition just sitting there on the shelf! Now I guess I'll listen to the soundtrack to prep myself as I slog through a few more hours work before I can play.- 1284 replies

We played through it 3 times. Twice we played with one character each, and the final time we played with 4 characters and all together made the decision for what the extra character would do. That's where the story in my spoiler comes from. The magician was actually our fourth extra character. I don't know what all influences the character endings, but my impression is that it can be a wide variety of things, and that certain specific events will overwrite others. We definitely spotted at least a half dozen different mini-storylines that can play out during the main bulk of the game, none of which we were able to see all the way to completion as we never had the right skills at the right time. There's a ton of stuff going on.

Frog Fractions 2: A Fractional Kickstarter Campaign

I'm honestly tempted to back it based simply on my enjoyment of his other free games. I've gotten a kick out of most everything he's made. Consider this to be paying forward my past free enjoyment. If you haven't checked out some of his other stuff, I highly recommend it. I replayed some last night. Desert Hike EX genuinely makes me chuckle every playthrough. -

The first reviews are dropping! Just skimmed two of them to avoid spoilers, but both sound very, very, very positive.- 1284 replies

Interesting reaction. Half of it was sarcasm, half wasn't.

I've been listening to Jethro Tull for an hour straight at work because of that trailer. Pretty sure you could cut a pretty good music video out of Dark Souls clips for every song off Aqualung. Jethro Tull is the Dark Souls of classic rock.- 1284 replies

The Dark Souls 2 trailers have been so weird. What says Dark Souls more than Jethro Tull? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=c0jC38feoB4- 1284 replies

That's the most amazing KS pitch ever: * The JigIn the pledge rewards, you'll note that you get certain things "once The Jig is Up." Since I am not going to announce the release of the game, getting a download code at release would be a spoiler. However, once the story is out there (e.g. once you start to see articles in the enthusiast press about it) then the download codes will go out. If you figure out Frog Fractions 2's secret identity before The Jig is Up, send me an email and I'll give you a code immediately. -
That's exciting for them! More exposure and more sales. And probably another wonderful round of insightful commentary, this time courtesy of console fanboys. That should be a treat.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Bjorn replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
I'm taking the Titanfall reviews with a major grain of salt. I'm not saying it isn't a fun and great game, but all the reviews seem to have been written based on the beta + a single review event hosted by EA one afternoon. That seems like a pretty limited amount of experience to review a game from. I'd have been more impressed if a few outlets would have refused to score it until it had been out for a few days or a week. So review embargo matches release date?- 1284 replies

I wonder when the review embargo is up. I just saw that the Titanfall reviews are beginning to come out. Surely the DkS2 reviews aren't far behind.- 1284 replies

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Bjorn replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I'm going to quit Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch just a few hours into it. It's absolutely beautiful and has great music, but this is baby's first JRPG, lite-mode. You've got a Microsoft Clippy-like companion who's terrified that you might have to make a decision on your own. And just in case he's not enough, you pick up a talking stone tablet who will chime in with any guidance that Clippy doesn't have. You can talk to these two whenever you want, but there isn't any need, as the game makes sure that you've got a giant Gold Star on your map to guide you step-by-step. At the three hour mark, it felt like I was still in a tutorial. This for a game where the combat amounts to just mashing X 90 percent of the time. I can't say I expected a ton from the mechanics of it, but I didn't expect the game to have such a low opinion of the capabilities of players. Maybe the aesthetic and partnership with Studio Ghibli made them think it would have a much wider audience appeal. -
If you enjoyed it, I'd suggested giving the novel a shot. I saw the movie first, then read the book. The pacing of the book is much better, and gets into some other territory that wouldn't have fit with the movie. I agree, I thought the film was better than critics at the time gave it credit for. Certainly not 9 percent bad on RT.

Played through this several times this afternoon with my wife and daughter. We all quite enjoyed it! It's a fun little experience to play together as a group that is quite different from anything else. I've got some friends that I'm curious what their reaction will be, so it will definitely get fired up the next time they are over. I was quite pleased that

That would be because it's a pencil sketch a friend made of me at a wedding several years ago. I generally try not to be completely anonymous online, so I either use my real name or I use a real image of myself.

I kind of hate having pictures taken of me, which means it typically only happens when the lady is involved. That said, this is the only photo of me that I absolutely love. Probably because a professional took it. I also like this one, even thought this suit makes me look about a fifty pounds heavier than I am:

That would be because it was Paul Verhoeven. Good or bad, his movies tend to be what he intended them to be.

Is that worth picking up? I've looked at it several times over the years, but never talked myself into it.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Bjorn replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Just read an article that confirmed that Dark Souls 2 review copies are in reviewers hands (which makes sense, it's damn near release). That means there are people out there dying right now, in Dark Souls 2. Lucky bastards. Today is the last Friday that will ever exist without Dark Souls 2 available to all. Umbasa.- 1284 replies
