Well those are probably two of the most interesting pieces written about this so far, in a large part for actually approaching it from new angles. I was completely ignorant of the Disco burning.

I just learned that Fuck No Video Games has his/her/their own Tumblr. That's useful information! And fuck this game.
-
Yeah, me too. I've watched Cine one time. Unfortunately, usually every time someone says they're going to stream something, it's inevitably when I'm not available to watch.

You could always go with Idle Yums: A Food thread about Bespoke Cooking.

Woah, there's a Daily Show podcast. No idea if it's any good, just found out it is a new thing that exists.
-
Weird, I didn't realize it needed permission. If you want, PM me your email and I'll see if I can directly invite you as a current member. I'll also just go ahead and post and see if anyone has an archive of them.

I've never read any of the AV Club's rewatches, but the one for episodes 8/9 (since I just watched them) didn't seem terrible, and I learned a few things.

This is really making me want to jump back into the BL playthrough on PC I started a few months ago.
-
I didn't back at beta level, so I've got to wait for it to come out. Which, I probably prefer it that way anyways.

I pity the intern whose job it is to read through all the public comments that the NY Times asked for after their article.

So are we going to get a new book cast now as well? Twin Peaks: The Novel

This place has the best filters. Meh. I think it's gross, but I'm also mostly whatever about it. It's basically any modern open world game if you strip out the story and missions. Unless one of its levels just ends up being straight up racist, misogynistic, or something, I don't particularly care about it.

If only more people could have that epiphany about their lives.

Weirdly enough, a Postal dev is active in the YouTube comments, commenting on how seriously this game seems to take itself (and not being particularly approving of it). I never played any of the Postals, so I don't know how serious or not any of them were. Otherwise, game just looks gross. And for all their ranting about artsy-fartsy games, I'd say a game that is strictly about nothing other than mindless, hate fueled killing is actually pretty far over on the "definitely art" side when you consider how many games are really about the same thing, they just try to put a thin veneer of paint over it to mask that. So, congrats anti-art guys, you made art!

I don't remember tracking people down in BASS bothering me, but I also played it while traveling and bored, might have felt differently if I was sitting in my house. The game that does it well is Deadly Premonition, where most of the townfolk go about their day. They get up, have coffee in their house, go to work, maybe catch lunch at the diner, go shopping after work, grab a beer at the bar or just go chill in their houses in the evening with friends or family. But you never have to track anyone down, it just goes ahead and gives you a map which lists everyone's location. Which, while completely unrealistic, makes sure that you aren't just wasting a ton of time wandering around. Also, a lot of people have unique conversation options based on when and where you talk with them.

In the HuffPo Live interview, the owner said it had been around for about a year, but I'm under the impression it had very, very few users until the gaters moved in.
-
And then the gaters will scream about persecution and their rights being suppressed.

I liked the mix of action/adventure and RTS, but totally get how it wouldn't gel with someone else. The thing with Brutal Legend is that it hooked me so hard. I'm not one to really like just fucking off in an open world (like just cruising around in GTA or Skyrim). But I would in BL. Even once I was done, I'd occasionally just fire it up and go driving around jamming out to some metal, looking for the few secrets I had missed. And I've played through the opening hour or so I don't know how many times. It's one of the best openings ever made, imho.
-
I'm going to amend my statement a bit, Brutal Legend is absolutely brilliant and remains one of my favorite games from the last generation.

I've bought every DF game so far, and don't really see that changing. It's not that they're the best, because they're not. But they are always super charming, and often fit in well as a very nice palate cleanser between bigger/deeper games. Broken Age is one of my favorite adventure games now though, in a large part because it's essentially Feminism: The Game.

Season 1 is really growing on me. We've made it through episode 9, and I'd be tempted to say that eps 8 and 9 would be required watching. 8 because it features a mothu-fuckin SPACE WIZARD! It also sets up what looks like a pretty significant story arc for Zhaan (I don't know this for sure, as I've only ever watched a handful of episodes before). 9 is interesting as it resets your expectations of the characters. You might be starting to think that they are becoming a unified crew, or even friends, but this episode makes sure to dispel that idea.

I will also recommend Tron 2.0, even though I never finished it. I hit a game stopping bug most of the way through, and yet even with that, I have some super fond memories of it.

I've barely looked at PA over the last year or two. Back at the dawn of the Dickwolves thing, and for some time thereafter, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for being simply ignorant, rather than malicious, with their words and actions. But they steadily proved that if it was ignorance, it was a malicious and willful ignorance.
