I have the top mouse and I like it. I also appreciate the little program that comes with it and lets you customize stuff (I would guess that kind if thing is standard these days). Mostly I think it feels great on my gaming mousepad and I don't mind the look.

I picked this up last week with some kind of discount on Steam and have only played the beginning but it is a lot more polished than I expected. Thanks for the above post btw Bjorn, I also appreciate that stuff (my wife's family are from Ellis, KS).

I think that is a fine starting point but in reality kids gravitate towards garbage and I suspect it's always been that way. I have three kids who are certainly not "all children ever" but I really think "something that doesn't totally suck" tends to > "most of the shit my kids consume all day"

As I am on a phone I am tempted to mass-quote BenX above but yeah definitely agree with him and Jake (Jake and him? He and jake? Fuck you undereducated internal English teacher!) Anyway I think your points are well made. In a world where so much stuff is questionable I really don't see any reason to give even that soft amount of grief to a movie (for kids!!) that has a pretty nuanced take on conformity etc Particularly when you consider the co-lead is a non-weak/passive female. This seems like a fun place to share an anecdote: after we saw this movie, my daughter demanded a new set of LEGOs and has been showing me her designs. Female empowerment? Super clever advertising? Both? Eh who cares, I am glad to see her trying this stuff out.

Thanks for the tip!

I am honestly at a loss in trying to explain how / why it really gripped me so much right away. The art, the music, the writing are all just incredible. I don't care if it takes them 20 years, I want these guys to keep getting it right. I really hope these folks know that they're doing something that probably won't have mass appeal but is pretty special to those of us who are along for the ride.

Are there any turn based combat games similar to this one? I am super loving this game btw just picked it up for the first time about a month ago.

Sorry I am aware everyone already knows this -- but wow is this a fantastic game.

I read several Algernon Blackwood stories last year and really enjoyed them. I am sad to say I don't know of much other weird stuff - would those spooky Ray Bradbury ones count? Have always lived those (Illustrated Man etc).

Rust: It puts the lotion on its skin

I'm pretty sure it was on 020714 but it could have been the one before that - sorry I can't remember if I listened to those in order or not -

Huh. What are you thinking, out of curiosity? The part of my brain that is trusting thinks "oh cool" but the part of my brain that has played DayZ thinks "probably some elaborate scam / trap / other bad thing." -
Rust: It puts the lotion on its skin

I thought that was one of the best Rebel FM podcasts. Their arc on Rust has been nutso! -
I am excited for this game, as I may start playing something non-sports on my XBone! I was a little spooked by the Beta ToS line about how our brains were now optioned for surgical emplacement into Big Dog units but I figure that's just legalese

Tight, I may hop on. I am super terrible though, haven't really figured out most of the systems and had to wiki like half of the tutorial Thanks man!

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo
SilentBtAmazing replied to JonCole's topic in Video Gaming
It'll just be a procedural forest fire game with extensive geneological systems, found poetry and minimal scripted -- nay, bespoke -- content -
Anyone else think the Giant Bombcasts have been really bad lately? Anyway folks have mentioned Rebel FM and the Not A Game podcast in passing in other threads and I enjoy both of those very much now.

Have you tried Two Worlds II, Twig? I too enjoy the occasional shitty RPG binge and it was my fave out of the last five years' trash. I played it on 360 and had to enter a console command every time so as not to barf but still managed to finish it unlike D2:DKS and other similar titles. I think because it was unselfconsciously weird in lots of places like totally unironically having velociraptors and endangered species as enemies to fight.

Being hydrated helps a lot I don't get many hangovers but it seems to me like anything awful for you helps you feel better, especially if you eat something pretty fatty (bacon etc) then chase it with sugar (pancakes fruit juice etc)

I think I saw a movie where NASA scientists went around saying "you keep what you kill"

This fall 2013 Mindy Kaling quote is making the rounds again on Facebook Which I love. It reminds me of your conversation about the satirical article and how deeply ingrained some if this stuff is. That really stuck out to me this week when a young woman who I mentor was talking to me about career stuff this week. it turned out her husband had assumed that, after 8 years if putting him through medical school, she was going to quit her career and move to his home state (where she could not continue in the same field). It really stood out to me how if the sexes were reversed that would not have been the assumption at all - and FYI this is a really cool and generally progressive guy as far as I can tell
