So my friend can't make it tomorrow after all. So I guess we need 2 more people if we're gonna do this. I'll plan to be on by the time I posted regardless so if anyone's on, feel free to join or send me an invite.

Unfortunately I already have my one exotic in that slot. I think I only have 1 strange coin right now too so pretty sure it would be a couple weeks before I would end up with enough to grab another exotic from Xur. Regardless though, I would definitely like to run the level 30 strike since I constantly need just about every other material that it would end up rewarding. I am also still a ways off from having enough Motes of Light to get another exotic helmet engram but that is the one piece of armor I have that is still blue so I would really love to get one for that slot. On my last attempt at the exotic engram, it ended up decrypting into a Warlock helm which was useless for my Titan. I'll get on as early as I can today but it likely won't be until after I get the kids to bed. If I see you on I'll definitely give you a heads up. I'm also still trying to wrap up The Dark Below quests and the one I'm on right now involves running the Strike that is part of that DLC. So I'm hoping to hit that up at some point too.

Dude, I don't think so. Our country was freaking the fuck out when we hit around 10% unemployment a few years ago. 20% unemployment would be catastrophic and everybody would feel it.
-
Also worth mentioning, I'm still only level 29 (almost 30) and my friend is at 28. So I think for now I can probably only handle VoG. Crota requires at least level 30 right?
-
I also have a friend who might be able to join us. If he can, that makes 5 going off of what's on the calendar.

I mean I'm hearing plenty of what you're saying from pretty much everyone on the internet right now but I've literally never heard any of this in the past. I've never known a single person who's watched his show, never heard anyone mention any funny things he's said or done, and never seen any YouTube clips of any of this supposed great comedy. I'll just have to take your word for it though because obviously this is a big deal for a lot of people and maybe I've just been living under a rock. But seriously, why haven't I heard anyone singing his praises until the last week of his career?

So far it looks like 3 of us are showing available around the same time on Saturday. Is anyone else available around that time that hasn't entered their availability yet? My wife is trying to plan some weekend stuff and I'm hoping to lock a time down to avoid any conflicts.
-
Of course they didn't. Because there were other jobs. Also, they weren't 99% of the population.

So is David Letterman supposed to be some kind of a saint or something? I'm kind of baffled by all of this praise he's getting and all of these articles about how he's like the greatest late night host the world has ever seen. I've tried to watch his show multiple times and it was some of the driest and most unfunny shit I've ever seen. Plus, doesn't he have a history of sexually harassing women and sleeping with a bunch of his younger staff? A dude like that doesn't seem worthy of praise in my opinion.

I hope they are making these decisions from their secret underground volcano lair. I agree with Cordeos though. Science fiction may have wired us to lean towards these doomsday scenarios but the reality is that that shit will never happen. Rich people don't just hate poor people, they also hate other rich people. In some cases, they exclusively hate other rich people. See Real Housewives.
-
This is unfortunately true. And this is evil scientist scenario 1 and the most likely scenario to play out. That scientist may create the world's most powerful super robot, but then Microsoft will likely offer them $2 billion (a clever way to add that scientist to their ranks) and then that scientist will go buy a mansion in Beverly Hills so they can retire to a life of peace and luxury.
-
Wouldn't the smartest robot be created by the smartest person? Let's say there's a 99% chance the smartest person belongs to the 99%. Then, they control the smartest robot and the rich bow to them. That's hero scientist scenario 2.
-
Is this assuming this is so far in the future that our world has become become one giant city? You know, like Coruscant?
-
I think the other problem with that problem is that the richest 1% are also not the smartest 1%. And luckily, you don't have to be a billionaire to build a robot. Just look at Anakin Skywalker. He was a slave and was able to build C-3PO by just looking up some Wikipedia articles and soldering a bunch of junk together. What I'm getting at is that I think it is unlikely that we will end up back in a place where only the top 1% have the knowledge and capacity to build super robots. They might think they do but then I guarantee some underdog hero scientist in the 99% will discover some fatal flaw in their robots and will reprogram them to instantly murder the 1%. Then that hero scientist will lead us into a new golden age before falling to the dark side and then just murdering the rest of us.
-
Okay, so let me get this straight. Rich people make robots that can perform all of the duties that they currently need to pay actual people for. They cut their entire payroll leaving everybody unemployed. Isn't that when people say "Fuck those assholes, let's just take the remaining 99% of us and just continue to do our thing our way while those rich robot owning assholes live in their isolated robotic kingdoms."? I'm sure you guys are joking (hopefully). But it is incredibly absurd to think that 99% of the population would suddenly cease to function just because the top 1% cut them off. That's some trickle down economics bullshit (kind of) and really paints the picture that 99% of us really are so stupid that we couldn't continue to function without the gracious 1% continuing to humor us.
-
Is that really all that different from our current situation? Also, another thought. Let's say you guys are right and 99% of us get totally fucked over. Um, can't we all just go form our own non-robotic economy?
-
And guess what pets need to survive. Food, water, a place to sleep, and a bunch of random toys to make them more entertaining as pets. In other words, a guaranteed basic income.
-
But you guys are missing a key point. What good is all that wealth and power with nobody to lord it over?
-
One thing to consider. If robots took all of our jobs and left us with a 99% unemployment rate, then nobody would have any money to pay for any of the goods and services that these robots are providing. Which means that that top 1% would only have a total market of 1% of the total population that would actually be capable of purchasing goods and services. Thus there would certainly have to be a guaranteed basic income for all people so that we can continue to do our part to keep the rich people rich.

take a Valium. Trust me, it works.

Yooka-Laylee: Rare-viving the animal duo platformer that we've all yearned for.

Well that's just like your opinion man. I disagree. I think having collectibles is a great way to encourage a player to explore a space where they might otherwise see no point in doing so. One of my favorite parts of GTA games is going through and getting 100% of collectibles. So many cool areas and things that I never would have come across if it weren't for some kind of collectible to lead me there. If you're talking solely about a corridor in a non-open world game then sure. Collectibles don't really add much in most cases. But for open world games I think they are better for having them. -
I can respect that. Sorry for my strong opinion. As long as you weren't one to drive that car through a quiet neighborhood in the middle of the night then I think we're still cool.

For games like that and Team Fortress I'm just aiming to get at least 10-20 hours logged at which point I'll call it "completed". We'll see though. I can see myself getting sucked into a game like KSP and stalling on that for a couple months. Thanks! And coincidentally, Rage just happens to be the next game on my list which I'll probably start tonight. The Giant Bomb guys seemed to get some enjoyment out of the game so I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll find some of those same things enjoyable.

I finished Mirror's Edge. This game was awesome. The whole concept was so well executed and the game looked and played really well. The only parts that kind of sucked were whenever dudes with guns showed up. Which was a lot unfortunately.
