  1. Rust: It puts the lotion on its skin

So I managed to wake up on the experimental server; this was an achievement since the game is currently pretty broken. It looks a lot better, but a lot has changed and you can't depend on basic intuition (currently). But I decided to walk around for a while. I got hungry and hadn't seen any animals until I saw a deer by the lake. I snuck up on it with my rock so that the deer would be between the water and my rock. I crept up to it and...

Switching back to one's that are still at the point of progress you left them in would be a good excercise for me. Maybe I'll do that at some point.

I uploaded an early build of a study I'm enjoying. I saw a Manfred Mohr exhibit recently and I wanted to make something similar. http://clyde.itch.io/mohr
  4. Awesome. What would be a good evening after 7:00 EST? Maybe if we suggest a specific time/date, others will coalesce around it. I played some more today. I hope we can get atleast a 3v3 custom match because it can get pretty tough in the public servers.

If you are trying to do what I think you are trying to do, then I would just have one audio-source and change the audioclip when you want to switch songs or sound effects. http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/AudioSource-clip.html
  7. The Monday Night Randomizer Club played MNC the other night and what I was surprised to see was that when a bunch of noobs get together, the matches tend to be pleasantly balanced. That's what I'm hoping for. SMNC is notoriously bad about disadvantaging teams when people leave mid-match, so that reliablity alone would make the game far more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this. I love it when the author keeps saying "useless, sexist tool".

Yup, that did it. The lighting is so photo-realistic. It almost feels like Myst or some sort of panoramic displaying application, but with a different type of distortion. I'm not entirely sure what that distortion is, maybe it's the fact that I'm looking at it through a flat screen. Building rooms is impressive, it works. I felt like Siri was helping me design the perfect space-doublewide for my particular needs. The voice in my head was like some sort of car commercial or something. "This wall, can we get rid of it." "No problem." I'm glad you put in additional lines for an ad-lib feel. Oddly, I really wanted her so say "Let me go ahead and take care of that for you." but she never did. I know there are more recent examples of the pandering customer-service fantasy, but this is the only one I could recall specifically:

It worked this time! I like it. It's fun. Propulsion that requires dangerous waste is an interesting concept in both theme and mechanics. Don't Shoot makes me feel reluctant about action in a way similar to Snake or the Tron's light cycle battles, but making the moment active rather than passive takes a lot of the stress away (I like that). In games where I am creating my own barriers while moment is passive, I experience a frustration with growth and the feeling that I just have to manage more and more. I like how in Don't Shoot, my decisions remain essentially the same. I would like to see this as a game where I move through an environment rather surviving on a static screen since I leave no permanent waste. Here's my wish-list by perceived importance divided by ease of implementation: -In its current state, Don't Shoot needs a "Restart" option. A button or a key-press to restart would make the game much more enjoyable and is easy to do. http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/any-way-to-reset-the-scene.23986/ Importance=8, Ease of Implementation=1 -Do not underestimate how much sound adds to a game even in it's early stages. Sound is so important to the impression a game makes on my memory. Even if the sounds are place-holders, I will get attached to them. Sound attached to the collisions , preferably a different one for each potential type of collision (friend/player, friend/friend, and torpedo/friend) would make this game significantly more enjoyable for me. Importance=9, Ease of Implementation=6 ---------------------------- I can't figure out where the .exe is Or when I open SpaceThing.exe I get an error that says the program can't start because MSVCR120.dll is missing from my computer.

I kinda want to start a new twitter-account that follows only gamer-gators. Since there's only 351 of them, I can collect them all. I've swung wildly from not caring about their opinions to wanting to collect them. Maybe I can battle them by tweeting ambigious manifesto-statements that include two of them at a time. Like "Hey @dumbass124 real gamergaters believe in ethics like @hornypony552 does! Maybe she will teach you."

NEVER GIVE UP! unless of course it's making you and/or others miserable. I'll try it tonight if I get a chance. I'm starting to get a somewhat intimidating backlog of small-games and prototypes I want to play. I'm having to keep them in a list. This is a good problem to have. I didn't realize that there were so many great little experiences and cool people making them until I started making them myself.

The PC builds consist of two files and this is only one of them. It also needs to include the data folder. Typically what people do its zip them up together. 7-zip is free to use and can zip files up. Once installed, you can put both of the Unity files in one folder >>right-click the folder >>go to the 7zip drop down>> select "add to [folder name].zip" The you just upload the resulting zip file.
  16. I think I started working on the game within a few days of playing Octopus Decision, so you are probably very much correct.
  17. I really enjoyed it too for similar reasons. A few years back I started wondering why I treat flies like pests rather than as wildlife. If I had deer walking up to me and licking the salt of my sweat off my hand, I would think it was magical. Turns out that it really is just a matter of perspective because years later I get excited about attention from flies and pentatomidea. Everyone I work with looks like an R.Crumb character to me when they reel back a roll of newspaper and get excited about smashing a living creature much smaller than them who is just trying to do their own thing. It's frustrating, but I eat cheese so.. ya know we all have to fight our own battles. The change in perspective isn't all sunshine and rainbows though. Just like treating an infestation as a festival of strange creatures can be a method for creating a psychological distancing from poverty, treating little creatures as bubble-wrap nusainces can be a psychological distancing from the suffering in the world around us and our inevitable death. Now that I view little creatures as if they were fairies and elves, I get quite upset when I hit one with my windshield at 60mph; I get even more upset that I never consider not driving because of the inevitablity. When all life gains value, it's hard not to see myself as a monstorous clumsy predator, crushing villages on my way to build and use machines more uncaring than even I. And every time I see a pentatomidea crushed in a door-crevice, I think "That could have been me." The worst is when you get an actual infestation of something and then you have to apply neurotoxic clouds to entire societies in order to stay healthy or get your deposit back; it's a horrible feeling. I wouldn't go back though. I think that accepting these realities is really important in the development of a sincere value-system. I'm wiser for it and everything around me becomes a simultaneous juxtaposition of urgency and triviality (how existential). I think this sensibility is referenced in the title screen with the promise of "adventure". I'm actually working on a game right now that is very similar in concpet to GREAT! Mouse Friends. In the game, insects will land on your hand and you have the choice of whether or not you want to crush them or talk to them. I'm heavily incentivizing talking to them with additional capacity for discovery. I'm designing the crushing-action to be boringly unsatisfying. YAY! sergiocornaga! It's great to see you here!

What happens when you click on that link? I just get an option to download the html file itself rather than a link to the webplayer loading. I tried looking for a tutorial, but started seeing people say that new dropbox accounts can't do it. I don't know if that is true. If it is true, another option would be to start a free GameJolt account and upload your build to GameJolt. GameJolt encourages people to post builds in progress because they want to be seen as a game-development community. The reason I wouldn't recommend doing this with itch.io is because they have a ten game limit from what I understand. Or maybe you can figure out how copy a public link from dropbox that works.
  19. Post Your Game for Playtesting and Feedback!

I think you need to upload both the .Unity3d file (which you did) and the .html file in the same folder. Then right click the .html file and select "Copy Public Link"

I assume that it's all astroturfing. I keep think about that sea-lion comic. I've seen that response by gaters happen in twitter-replies and comments on internet articles probably 50 times in the last month. I've lost my patience with it. Either they want to be part of a movement without considering the harm of it, or they want to silence voices that are valuable to me. I really don't care which it is. If their priorities are that myopic, selfish, and/or oppressive, then I have no desire or need for their opinion.

Basically it has been the process of making up reasons to put dead squirrels in Quinn's mailbox. The main instigators have been throwing out cumulative accusations and then actively promoting whatever gets traction with their mob. Additionally anyone who has publicly supported Quinn or pointed out that this is just a thinly veiled harassment-campaign has appeared on the list of targets and the same process is applied to them. The idea is to basically make it known that if you get in their way or point out the reality of their tactics and intentions, they will incite the mob to comb through everything you've ever put on the internet and look for something to get angry about. If they don't find anything, they'll just make up rumors until one is difficult enough to disprove (or just something that is desirable enough for the mob to believe) that it gains traction. The complexity of the situation is just a cumulation of all the rumors on the increasing amount of gamergate's targets. Since none of the accusations are true or are irrelevant, more and more rumors are started to keep the pressure on.The influence of the feminist-agenda on game-press was an early accusation that managed to gain traction.

My experience has been very different. Find some solo game-developers on Twitter and follow them. Most of my feed has been nothing but people trying to explain the misogynistic intent and methods of gamer-gate for the past month or so.

When I ask for computer-programming help, I do a little bit of research after I get a piece of advice before I continue to complain that my script isn't working. Two differing ways to approach forums are: 1. "I have something to say." 2. "I'd like to get another perspective on this (so I can then take keywords I can use to further my understanding of it because I want to understand it)." I try to make sure I alternate between the two every few posts I make in a thread.
