  1. I don't think I've mentioned it by name, but Cynical Nerd has 8-minute long guide-videos on all of the heroes. They have been really useful for me. That's where I learned how to effectively use Zarya and I just watched the one of Reaper; I cleaned up with him now that I understand he is good for teleporting behind the enemy line and taking out tanks.
  2. Oh my gosh y'all. Try playing a custom game with all A.I. set to easy. It's worth doing at least once.
  3. The Big VR Thread

How are y'all enjoying your headsets lately? What applications or games do you find yourself enjoying?
  4. Game Critique Club (Round 2.5)

I've managed to isolate all of the scenes with the exception of the Sun. I've grown to really enjoy 60 HZ DAYDREAM. The flat art with its earth-tones and dithery zones complement the experimental melodies of low bit-rate synth chimes and phase-shifting. I'm not sure if there is an inherent synergy between them or if playing the game a lot has created a new association; I think it's kinda cool either way. I notice that the subjects are all animals reaching their targets in natural settings, but I never managed to connect that with the larger organization of having all the games shuffle as fast as they can and being eliminated one by one in order to achieve a more easily observable scene. If the game was composed of noisy disruptions within our modern technological lives or if I eliminated layers of illusions in order to reveal a more relevant reality, then I would have felt that the themeing and the format would easily feel related; I'm just trying to give some examples for comparison to show you what I mean. I can certainly come up with a personal interpretation, but I feel that it would lack corroboration with a third aspect. that personal interpretation would be this: Sitting in a park, at first it appears to me as the hyper-reality of nature. But once I take the time to witness and observe various examples of animal-life going about its business, I no longer see these instances as a single summary. I had this experience sitting in a park today in fact. I examined a fractured twig for a while, watched a flying insect crawling across a twig-bridge over a portion of the creek and blew a black ant off of my melodica-case after watching it panic about how to get back off of it. I would like to have more to say about how the game feels so incredibly abrasive; that aspect is such intense part of the presentation, but I don't really know what to say about it beyond the satisfaction of forcing myself through electronic-media that is aggresively irritating to eventually reach one of a few digital folky renditions of tropishly peaceful scenes. When I type that out I realize that I enjoy the concept.
  5. [Release] Punch Wizard

The look was really cool and I liked standing on enemies. How did you do the camera-pathing?
  6. I don't usually find myself caring much about cosmetics or loot, but the fact that you can get duplicates is fucking stupid imo. First time I've had a complaint about the game though.
  7. I love that you call it drinking your juice.
  8. Have you tried Reinhardt, Torbjorn, Symmetra, or Lucio Dewar? I'd be interested in hearing what your experiences are like with these characters since you are having difficulty with more skilled players.
  9. This is often how I play as well. I consider myself a long-range harasser. I'm like one of those lizards that throws up its collar to make itself look more threatening. I spam shots constantly as if to say, "Don't come in here, there are so many of us!"A similar thing I do is run behind enemy lines with Genji, Tracer, or Reaper. The other team can't stand to be flanked and I end up drawing 2-3 of them out of the main fight for a minute or so.
  10. I didn't know that. I'm going to try using Zarya as a Reinhardt-counter.
  11. Pro tip: Symmetra's ball of energy goes right through Reinhardt's shield and Reinhardt often fails to notice that this is happening.
  12. Te release of Overwatch feels more like a relief from an obsession rather than the beginning of one for me. I don't feel a yearning to play at all hours, I just really like being able to pop in for a match or three when I don't feel particularly enthusiastic about doing something that requires a lot of thinking.
  13. @Griddlelol I'm coming from a similar place and I really like Overwatch. I've tried to get into TF2, but I end up just trying all the classes and leaving after a little while. The two games share a lot; the influences of all the TF2 classes and modes are completely apparent, but there are significant changes in Overwatch that help me get into it. The most obvious difference is that there are 21 characters who all have cooldown abilities and an ultimate ability that doesn't reset its charge unless you change characters or use it. So what happens for me is that I try a character out, do poorly, decide to use another but then see that I have 75% charge so I want to see what that does, I use it when it is at full charge and then sometimes I end up changing characters and other times I don't. I would say that if you like the idea of a Team Fortress 2 clone made with contemporary levels of fidelity, and that you would enjoy figuring out what all the abilities of 21 characters can be used for, then you will likely enjoy Overwatch. If losing 6-minute matches due to a lack of team-cohesion pisses you off, then you might not enjoy the game though. I've only played with randoms and I've had a great time in both support roles and as damage-dealers. The key for me is that I think every one of the characters are fun to play. Some take longer to figure out; I just watched a guide on Zarya last night and now that I understand that you basically want to shield yourself and teammates until the number on your reticule goes up before jumping into the fray, I like her a lot.
  14. I wouldn't be concerned about everyone already being good at the game considering how poorly everyone (including myself) has been playing the objective in my first couple of matches.
  15. Yeah, what singlespace said. I don't really have an interest in convincing you to buy Overwatch, but your reasons aren't very relevant to this particular game. I don't enjoy TF2, and I expected to not enjoy Overwatch based on video of gameplay (it looks too fast and precise), but once I played ten matches or so and started to get interested in using character abilities it really hooked me. I'm not good at it, but taking pot-shots at enemy paths with Symmetra's slow-moving orb until I got enough lucky hits to install a teleporter for the team was how I first started to feel useful. Then once Winston cleared out all my mini-turrets with his cattle-prod during a later match, I got curious about trying to use him. It just escalated like that. There is certainly some amount of reward for fast and precise aiming, but there are numerous opportunities to have fun being helpful to your team with other characters.
  16. I did not notice the sound-effect reference.
  17. I played this after losing a game of Paragon(which was quite stressful) and just cleaning up all the stuff was a pleasant way to reach a more relaxed state.
  18. Feel free to post your playables here. Don't forget to also submit your game to the official itch.io submission page. I just wanted a thread too. I made a flickgame based off of the description for Idle Thumbs episode 253.
  19. [RELEASE] The Eyes of Luigi

    I enjoyed it.
  20. So weird to see that there are people who know what they are doing. To any of y'all who are watching those videos who haven't played yet, don't worry; first of all you don't have to know what is happening in order to have a good time and secondly, playing the game feels way different than watching it (the game seems to transform my clutziness into grace).
  21. Interesting article. I think the increased likelihood of being paired with someone you voted for at the end of the match and the bonus for consecutive matches in the same lobby are especially clever.
