  1. Paragon (lane pusher)

I haven't seen a new map. I played two A.I. Matches this morning. It's possible that the new map may be competitive only. I made a Sparrow deck before my second match. I did significantly better. I think the pre-made decks are weighted towards increasing health and armor which isn't very useful for me in A.I. matches since I can typically avoid ganks. By the way, can I give you this thing that gives you a couple of hero challenges? If so, how do I find you on the Epic thing.
  2. Solitaire: The Lonely Hearts Club

Because of this thread I crave Culdcept Saga every once in a while. I thought about hooking my Xbox 360 back up to see if that demo is still up. The game is like $25 used... and I'm like "I can believe there isn't a PC version. Typing it into Steam took me to some early-access game that got its purchase option removed for legal reason; looks kinda hawt though (and similar to Culdcept Saga).

So I bought Boy's Club from the Humble Bundle and I'm enjoying it. In other news, Fantagraphics seems to express that this particular form of appropriation is their motive for copyright enforcement. http://fantagraphics.com/flog/truthaboutpepe/

I am getting so many cards! I need to start making decks after my games. I jump around on which hero I use (which means that I forget what I will need in my deck) and the pre-made decks always feel exhausted by the end of the match based on how I play. I have so many cards now that making a deck has become a bit overwhelming. This is always what happens to me with collectable card games.

  6. Y'all often approach describing the experience of noticing stuff you would have loved in your past but can no longer prioritize. I feel this a lot too. It's almost as if I personify things I've personally enjoyed intensely and at length, and by not giving it attention now, I'm diminishing its importance. It's a strong emotion I feel often and it mixes really strangely with consumer-culture where nostalgic brands have speculative worth for investors. I bring all this up because both Far Cry 2 and Forge in Halo 3 were tools for such substantive, communal experiences for me in the past and I feel like a bad friend for not being there anymore. Did Chris say the the new Forge has bots? That sound kinda interesting. I always fantasized about being able to populate Halo 3 Forge maps with enemy A.I. This could be an interesting compromise.

The pools are just hiding spots for ganking pretty much. Here is a card-point explainer. I didn't read it beyond Part 3. Everything that gives you orange orbs gives you card-points. So last-hitting minions, picking up stray orbs, and harvesters. Here is a map of where the different buffs and harvesters can be found. The spawn times of the harvesters just changed last week I think. Yellow are the towers and Orange are the Inhibitors. Taking down an Inhibitor spawns stronger minions for your team on that lane. You can plant harvesters on any of the blue spots if no one else has by standing on a sigil located there. Having a key from your card-deck will speed the process up. In-game, you will see a purple icon that fills up, standing on the sigil of a friendly harvester empties the harvester and gives card-points to your entire team. You can destroy harvesters enemies have placed.

I just read an article where Trump is referred to as "Toddler Cheeto" I love it.

I can't drink during the debate tonight because it's likely that I'll get angry.
  10. Rainbow Six: Siege

So I've gotten back into Rainbow Six: Siege and it continues to be a really special competitive game. They are still adding operators and maps every few months. Maps are completely free; operators require grinding or money. They just released the 25th and 26th operator about two months ago. We are scheduled to get 2 more I believe (and one more map). There is currently a "Starter Edition" available for PC on UPlay for $15. It requires more grinding, but individual operators can be bought for real-money credits too. People seem to complain about the grinding, but it seems like a solid deal to me. Here is the FAQ on how the "Starter Edition" works. Anyway, I was playing today and we had a few great moments. At one point it was a super tense one-on-one and my team was defending. With 15 seconds left the attacker had to rush into the room and we were all waiting for it to happen (you watch your team when you die). So We can only see the top of the doorway because our dude is laying on his back waiting. We hear him run in, saw their hat for a split-second and then they disappeared through a hole in the floor someone had blown open. It was super funny. So I updated my nVidia software and set it to record the last 5 minutes of play because I really would have enjoyed saving that moment. Didn't get that one, but I was able to save a few rounds were I was super good. Here is one where I do pretty well as Frost on defense. It should give you a good idea of what half of the matches play like. If you are wearing headphones, notice how I am listening for attackers by turning my gaze and using stereo-hearing.
  11. Video Games and Schools

I don't teach and it isn't free, but I would think 80 Days would be perfect. I think 80 Days is published by Inkle Studios and they seem to have an interest in getting teachers to use their interactive fiction platform, so it might be worth sending them an email to see if they offer some sort of educational license.

I just tried Khaimera for the first time and I loved him/her. Increasing attack-speed to heal yourself feels awesome. Narbash didn't go so well though; end game, in a group he was pretty helpful, but I struggled to do anything for the first 3.4 of the match.

Just found out that there is a case against Trump involving sexual assault. Here is your trigger warning, the article involves rape and pedophilia.

I thought it was a pretty funny joke that those three popular memes could be interpreted as the "three impure spirits" in Revelations. I wasn't trying to suggest dat boi is a white-supremacist symbol.

This was a succinct opinion on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kadybat/status/779344669251477506 had to click "Read More" a few times to get the whole thing.

  17. I've been getting into a certain aesthetic that appears more frequently in amateur freeware than in commercial games. I have hard time describing it, but the basic idea is that the player can see the seams and enjoy them. It is no coincidence that my appreciation for this aesthetic has come about while I'm learning to make games. I get very excited when I play something that shows how it was built. I'd love to talk about it, but I barely know where to start. Anyone have thoughts on this article? http://killscreendaily.com/articles/voidscapes/
  18. I'm continuing to have a really good time exploring the edges of Feral Rites.
  19. I recorded some more about trying to jump off of Feral Rites. And how to get to the spot featured in the last two videos:
  20. Paragon (lane pusher)

It continues to baffle me that there isn't a Lords Management in the style of Halo. They could even use the enemies from Halo. They'd have to decrease damage done to other players and figure out how weapons and vehicles are earned. But it just seems like such an obvious thing for that commercial franchise to do. Are there any of them that you kinda like or hate?
  21. Paragon (lane pusher)

Gosh I forgot how good this game is as a time-killer when I am feeling a bit slow in the motivation department. I could never get into Diablo-style RPGs because of the interface, so I skipped that style of Lords Management. If you are in that position, I recommend playing some team-matches against A.I. It's just kinda satisfying to play with all the heroes, farm bots, and earn cards. The new characters are super interesting. Greystone is awesome for beginners since his ultimate is a passive resurrect. Fey is fun because her powers stack really well and can stop a gank from happening. Lt.Belica has got some neat ways to discourage use of enemy abilities in an area. Super fun.
  22. I'm really enjoying exploring the world geometry in the vr-game Feral Rites. I'm not sure if there is a kill-floor in the game or not, but I'm getting better at scaling areas as I gain animal-forms. http://youtu.be/KrTK5-0DOf4
  23. General Video Game Deals Thread

On the Oculus store, Feral Rites is $10 right now. It's a 3rd person arcade-brawler with a fantastical indigenous islander theme. If this wasn't in VR, it would be a ridiculously generic game circa early Xbox360. It's heavily tutorialized and you are the chosen one and all that typical stuff. I think it's worth mentioning that this is potentially the most comfortable game I've played regarding simulation-sickness. When I played the first hour I was so bored by how generic everything was, but the game is built in an interesting way. It's built like a 3d-platformer with large scenes, but there are blue lines that designate camera changes. When you cross that line, a static camera is placed above the line and is rotated at the angle your character moved across it. The levels are built out with low-poly environmental props and a few invisible colliders. The character can jump really high. So I've basically been rubbing the rocks and cliffs surrounding the paths trying to access areas outside the intended paths. Feral Rites is a great game for this. Managing to scale a mountain you aren't supposed to see the top of in VR is especially rewarding. Even clipping through the geometry can be affecting. I still haven't managed to jump off the world yet, but I hear the game is large in scope so I'll have a lot more chances. You upgrade abilities too, so if I get some sort of double-jump or something I'll be able to access a lot more areas. Super fun.

Inside /pol/, the 4chan Politics Board Shouted Out in Minneapolis Gun Video http://nymag.com/selectall/2015/11/inside-pol-4chans-racist-heart.html Obviously I'm still trying to clarify this all in general enough terms where it will actually be applicable, but here is an idea:It seems like this mess operates like a fandom where the canon is instances of their characters showing up in national news-media coverage.
