You typically get a couple of million points for finishing each mode. In Spiderman, I managed to finish all the modes and start wizard-mode. Wizard mode typically gives me atleast a 50% addition to my score.

My hopes are unreasonably high for Mew-Genics. Reading this comic, I'm not sure if they are going to have multiple win-conditions like Civ 5, or if there is just a lot of freedom to create your own objectives. Either way, I'm looking forward to breeding AI in a game. http://mewgenics.com/

I was playing Fear Itself this morning. When I was trying to ascend the hammer of the Worthy whose requirement is to use the magnets in the outer-orbits to do full circles, my ball was getting magnetized when I was trapping it; it moved in spooky ways when I pressed the flipper button which turns the magnet on. I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be funny if El Muerte played this table first and that's why he asked about the weird physics?"

That's fantastic Laco. I remember that situation with the door and the shopkeeper.

I made it to Hell for the first time. Psyched. This game just keeps on giving.

It sounded like you all had a lot of fun on this episode. I enjoyed it.

What a hipster.

So if you have an Nvidia card, a simple adjustment in the Nvidia control-panel can make the flippers of both Pinball FX2 and Pinball Arcade feel significantly more responsive and snappy. Usually I don't notice this type of technical detail, but here I do. 1.Go to the "Nvidia Control Panel" by right clicking on your desktop 2.Under "Manage 3D Settings", on it's tab window, click "Add" 3. Find either Pinball FX2 or Pinball Arcade from the list of programs 4. Scroll down to where it says "Maximum pre-rendered frames", click it and select "1" 5. Click "Apply" Like I said, I really notice a difference. The flippers of both games feel kinda spongy otherwise.

They are still fun to use, even if you are unskilled. We have a Nexus 7 and it's pretty fun to doodle on it with a program like SketchBook Pro; you have such quick access to colors and various sizes of brushes. It is a bit of a power-fantasy to use the bucket tool on something you are drawing with a stylus. The Wacom pads that you can hook up to your computer are great because you get to record your drawings. I paid about as much for a new video-game to get one, and I've had a really good time doing things like this (little skill required): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=t4wKTRZYFT8

Psyched. I love the mechanics of the multiplayer version, but competition is pretty intense so a campaign is welcome.

I bet you still do it to this day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=001VqAwIDn0 Don't go to a Cat Power show.

It's kinda slow at times, but there is some pretty great pinball-porn in this first episode, published recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=raAzOtOhWm0

Reputation within hierarchy and acceptance by our peers have always been important to humans. I think "likes", "re-tweets", and "favorites" are just extensions of smiles, high-fives, and laughter in a high-frequency response text-medium. http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2011/09/22/brain-movies/

Pinball FX2 is on my mind right now so take take that into account when I say this: Pinball FX2 is great for learning how to appreciate completing objectives on a table. Some of them have central targets that start the modes and obtuse animations when the mode starts. The characters will sometimes even say something that gives you an idea of what to do. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and the written instructions are lacking to an absurd degree. I'll give you an example. Sorceror's Lair (the free table) has a central target that you hit three times in order to start every mode. In one if the modes, ghosts appear in each lane that you are supposed to hit and they dissipitate when the ball goes through them. The more I try to think of examples, the more I realize that the modes are pretty complex and take a while to figure out. I still have very little idea what I'm supposed to do on Paranormal.

It happened. Someone recommended Neutral Milk Hotel and the other person did not say "Oh yeah, I have 'Holland, 1945' on a mix-cd!" Let the flood-gates open! Now I get to recommend Neutral Milk Hotel to strangers again. The curse is broken! I AM FREE!!

I wonder if the desire to commoditize our experiences is specific to our society or if it's inherently human. Wait til we can live-stream and archive sleeping-dreams. It'll be pretty wild.

The ball is heavier and the slingshots and bumpers are nerfed. That's what makes it easier to control your ball. Trapping requires very little skill.

You know when you have spent a year of your life obsessively playing a specific game and then it goes on sale and you are like "Oh man, it would be so great to do it all again at that super-low price." but then the reality hits you that you can't do it again; you already done did it? I'm feeling that right now. I've had so much fun playing these tables. Even though the PS3 versions are preferable (because of 3D support), I'll be buying all these on Steam if anyone wants some freindly competition. https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly For those who don't know, Pinball FX2 has well designed asyncronous play. As you are playing, notifications pop up to inform you that you are approaching a friend's high-score. It sounds dumb, but man alive! When you are about to complete a mode and that thing pops up, it adds a lot of tension to your next shot. I should also mention that Pinball FX2 has a much different design philisophy than Pinball Arcade. The ball is much more managable and the playfield animates. Oh and just so y'all know, Wolverine is my table. If you beat my high-score on Wolverine, I will make it a priority to take it back.

I just found out about vaporwave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ki-fATpXa00

Congrats. Good luck on your eggplant run.

The way he mixes on the tracks maintains a distinct separateness which I associate with lo-fi, but everything still has clear, sonic-emphasis (which I associate with commercially successful pop). So I'm getting the best of the lo-fi style (which I associate with authenticity) and the high-fi style (technical craftsmanship).

Do not feel bad Gormongous. I love you. P.S. I'm still somewhat intoxicated.
