It could, but the problem with voting with your wallet is that it only says one thing: "I don't want this." If Offworld doesn't sell well, it would be tough for Mohawk to know whether it's because the game was too strange, poorly marketed, ill conceived or if people don't want to support Brad Wardell. Voting with your wallet says you don't want to buy something, but it doesn't say why.

I think Bring Up the Bodies is just generally more straightforward than Wolf Hall.

I mentioned this in the Offworld thread, and it isn't a comment on whether or not one should buy Offworld (I personally am planning to), but if the dislike of Stardock stems from a dislike of Brad Wardell, supporting Mohawk Games exclusively isn't a way around that, since Wardell is one of Mohawk's co-founders. I suppose you could still buy it a Bundle and just put the slider all the way toward "Charity," but right now, it doesn't seem like there's a way to support Mohawk without supporting Wardell, which I agree is a shame.

Offworld, an economic RTS from Soren Johnson

I want this game so much, but have promised myself that I'd only buy one game a month and I already got Majora's Mask 3D. Two more weeks! -
Nope, it would kill. Damage is dealt all in one go, but cards are discarded one at a time. So the way it works is this: Play Scorched Earth -> Check to see if Cards in Grip is less than Damage Dealt -> If yes, Runner flaltlines -> If no, discard cards. Then, if I've Had Worse is discarded, you draw up. The upshot is that I've Had Worse only does anything if the damage woudn't have killed you. Still a great card, but you've got to be aware of how many cards you have in had.

I am so happy that you used the Wanton Destruction art for the cover for this episode. It is, in my opinion, the perfect Netrunner card.

Oh man, I was about to recommend Guacamelee because it's really, really, good. I do agree that the meme-based humour was a bit annoying, but I loved the art style. And the combat, level design, power-ups and platforming are all excellent. In terms of 3D games, Batman: Arkham Asylum has a bit of Metroidvania going on.

That's a pretty common attribute of games with a lot of player interaction. The best example I can think of is the board game Tammany Hall. First place (as determined by points) is pretty much the worst position to be in until the very end of the game. -

I think when I get back to reading fiction I'll read some more Munro. She's got a new book, doesn't she? Whatever, I'll probably go for Runaways anyway. Although, I think Lives of Girls and Women is a better starting place than Dear Life, just because the first couple stories in the latter aren't great, even though the last few are incredible.

Also, some of those things feel like strategic considerations that aren't really appropriate to a tutorial. The answer to "how far away should I build stuff?" is almost certainly "it depends." -
I've got a friend who always nags me about the Tokyo pronunciation.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't trying to dismiss those concerns at all, I was just suggesting something that could help you right now. I'm sure the UI and tutorialization will improve as they expose the game to more players. -

I would watch Soren run through the tutorials on YouTube. I haven't played the game yet, but that gave me a good idea of what's going on. -
As far as I'm aware, there's not actually a super great linguistic definition of "syllable."

I just read a thread on a random forum from 2009 speculating about my granny's health. Gotta be one of the most surreal things I've ever read.

Interesting things about quinine, the first European treatment for malaria: it's what gives tonic water its flavour. Also, the threat of malaria was one of the big things that prevented widespread European of settlement of Africa and Southeast Asia. Once quinine was developed, European powers were able to accelerate colonization. -

It's one of the better Thumbs episode titles. -
Even though I was in the "crossguard is dumb" camp, I'd be lying if I said those toys didn't look cool. Imagine punching somebody with a fistful of lasers! By the way, A Fistful of Laser should be the subtitle of one of the movies in the new trilogy.

Yeah, either it's back to Shaper or equal numbers for each of the Runner factions. I'm leaning toward the second option, although I wouldn't be surprised by the first. But no way will there be a new Runner faction. The Runner factions are designed around two triangles: HQ-R&D-Archives and Killer-Decoder-Fracter. Adding on to those would be weird. I mean, maybe they could add Remote Servers and AI breakers as a focus, but I really doubt it Back to Order and Chaos, I already tweeted this at Nels, but if people haven't noticed the flavour text on the cosmic Ice you should check it out. The four cards combine to make a poem: His belt of stone did shake and shatter As through the door of light he came He bent his bow of stellar matter And seeking prey he then took aim.

I'm not sure if we disagree here. Alien is not an action movie; neither is The Hunger Games.

Oh man, articulatory phonetics and phonology, don't get me started!

Interesting, I also just watched Wet Hot American Summer and really enjoyed it. I mean, it was weird as heck and really felt more like a sketches layered on top each other, but it did it's weirdness really well and I had several laugh out loud moments.

Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role was not The Hunger Games. Hunger Games was 2012: she got an Oscar nomination for Winter's Bone 2010 and co-starred in X-Men: First Class in 2011. Hunger Games cemented her as a star, but she was famous before that. I'd also say that Cameron Diaz's breakthrough was The Mask, not There's Something About Mary. As for the original question, I'd say Sigourney Weaver should count as much as Lawrence. At least, I don't think Hunger Games is much more of an action movie than Alien is. It's much less of a horror movie, yes, but both films have about the same amount of "Action." They're really both about survival. EDIT: I guess I'm working on a different definition of "breakthrough" than you guys. In my mind, it's "big role that got the actor noticed by people in Hollywood" rather than "role that defined the actor as a draw to theatres."

I actually enjoyed one of the achievements I got in Grim.
