  1. What can you tell me about Seattle?

Well, I mean, Tacoma's got that space station right? That's gotta count for something.
  2. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Griddlelol, have you played the Etrian Odyssey games? They might interest you.
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

You should listen to The Flop House. It's a podcast about bad movies, but like Idle Thumbs or My Brother, My Brother and Me, it oftens devolves into complete nonsense. One of the hosts' preferred vectors of nonsense is the very game you describe. They call it "Words that sound like other words." For a good example of it, listen to Episode 158: Labor Day, where playing this game leads them to craft an elaborate story where Alan Ruck was king of the elves.
  4. I Had A Random Thought...

If you noodle on this a bit more, you should submit it to the On-line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences.
  5. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Speaking of Brian K. Vaughan, I just started reading Saga. It's great! Fiona Staples' art is amazing.
  6. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

They also pace the game and contextually make sense. If you've got an evil mastermind, it makes sense that they have minions. And sometimes it feels good just to mow enemies down easily.
  7. Jeff Goldblum

    Life finds a way.
  8. Terminal7 33: Let's Get on this Weird Steamboat

I can attest to Gang Sign being completely bonkers good in Leela. The best turn I've had with it so far: NBN scores an Astroscipt off the table. I've got Gang Sign and HQ Interface, so I access two cards, stealing Project Beale and NAPD Contract. I'm Leela, so I send all three unrezzed R&D ice back to HQ. I've got Logos on the table, so I grab Indexing. Next turn, I play Indexing and steal a Breaking News, bouncing another card. The Corp thought they'd be winning 2-0, but it ended being 5-2. Amazing. The other awesome thing is that Gang Sign is not unique. If you have multiples installed, each triggers separately. So two Gang Signs and an HQ Interface means you access two, then access two again. Bonkers. Also, you guys are mistaken about Street Peddler. We've known it's name ever since it was spoiled in the original Underway announcement back in February.
  9. Life

    We all love you, tegan.
  10. Feminism

I miss her on Crate & Crowbar. Pip is the best!
  11. Her Story

I actually liked them, but the first few times it happened, I jumped out of my skin because it was late at night and that effect was totally unexpected.
  12. I'd be sad if Aladdin doesn't hold up, because it's got my favourite Disney musical soundtrack.
  13. Her Story

This to me suggests the opposite of your conclusion.
  14. Non-video games

Cards Against Telestrations is pretty great, yeah. Turns out Cards Against Humanity gets much better when you combine it with other games. I'm sure I've done it with other ones, but I can't remember which.
  15. Her Story

    That's an accurate assumption.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

Does the directorial style of Friday Night Lights ever change? I watched the first two episodes and enjoyed them, but can't stand the way it's shot. It jumps around way too much and the camera's always behind somebody or some piece of scenery. I could barely follow any of the scenes.
  17. Her Story

That's my point - mysteries deal in larger-than-life characters and events. I won't disagree about the cliche, though - I don't think that Her Story goes a bit too far. I'm not sure if it's thinks its deeper than it is, though. What gives you the impression that it's trying to be more than just a crazy mystery story?
  18. Is it weird that during the Sleep No More discussion, all I could think of was how awesome a Hitman level set in Sleep No More would be?
  19. Her Story

This would be a terrible game to stream. Literally the entire game is about figuring out what words to search and then doing that and putting the pieces together in your head. Watching somebody else do it without being able to work things out with them is completely missing the point.
  20. Her Story

I can't really disagree with anything in that article (which, by the way, has HUGE SPOILERS WATCH OUT), but they just don't bother me nearly as much. Maybe it's because I actually really enjoy stupid crime shows like CSI and Criminal Minds? As I said, mysteries have to be ridiculous to a certain extent. If the answer were mundane, it would be easy to find. Think about how the plot of The Wire is structured - there are rarely any "whodunit" points - you usually know, and the interesting part of the story is watching it unravel. That works great for a TV show, but for a game like this, you need something a bit more outrageous so that you mind doesn't immediately jump to the obvious conclusion.
  21. Offworld Trading Company is super good, although it's still in Early Access. It's an RTS with no units and no combat. Instead, it's all about harvesting and producing resources, while selling them on the open market.
  22. Her Story

Yeah, thanks for that Smart Jason. I actually decided to just watch the credits and then figured out how to find the rest of the clips. Now for the speculation! I really hope people run with this concept. There's a lot of potential in it.
  23. Her Story

Well, if there doesn't seem to be much more information, then I guess I'll watch the credits roll and enter the discussion.
  24. Her Story

    Okay, then I'm confused.
  25. Her Story

Been playing this for the past two days and I'm loving it. I'm at at impasse right now, though. I've triggered what seems to be the end game, but I've only seen about 80% of the clips and it feels like there's still part of the mystery I haven't answered. I wonder if anybody who's finished could help me out? I don't want a clear answer here or anything, but basically just an indication of whether I'll reasonably be able to find what I'm looking for.
