  1. Destiny

I've always been most comfortable at mid to close range in Bungie games in PVP and PVE, rushing down enemies with high impact weapons and sealing the deal with melee. I've had a lot of success with Scout Rifles and Fusion Rifles so far. However, I've only played as a hunter (and only up to 15) so I'm not sure how reliant my success is on the class I'm playing.
  2. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Kojima has specifically said that Quiet is not Chico on multiple occasions. Which means its probably 50/50. Though she's almost certainly linked to Paz and Chico in some way. Paz is Spanish for Peace after all. Peace and Quiet. It's just stupid enough to be Metal Gear clever. And yeah, if Chico is Quiet, it will almost certainly be handled badly.

  5. Spacebase!

Tim Schafer answers common questions about v1.0 Was it ever communicated that the continued development of Spacebase was incumbent on it being a runaway success while it was barely presentable? Maybe I'm missing the point here but I don't think anyone expected DF to make less on a game then they were spending on it forever... but they probably can be forgiven for expecting DF to spend more money than their making on a game they're still making. I know this is the danger of buying into an alpha funding game and I get that business realities sometimes trump best intentions but... wow. Am I being unfair? I don't feel like I'm being unfair. OK, I know I am being unfair. I'll write it off as a session in not buying a game based on what it's promised to be. Not because developers can't be trusted, but because reality isn't always accommodating.

Pro Tip: a tiny bit of water (like 1:10) cuts the burn and opens the flavour of the scotch up. There are a huge range of flavours. To find one you like, a scotch tasting is money well spent. Even better is a father inlaw in the Masons. Those dudes duh-rink.

  9. Destiny

Are you on the west coast? I'm on PS3 as well.
  10. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Also, the screen cap is "perfect"
  11. Destiny

So, looking at side by sides, the PS3 version looks TOTALLY IDENTICAL (well, basically fine compared) to the PS4 version. Has anyone played on PS3? Does it suffer major performance hits or anything? I was considering getting a PS4 or waiting for a PC port, but the PS3 version looks pretty serviceable.
  12. Who here likes video games?

    I think they're super good.
  13. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

I don't know if it was the nadir of the series, or even the worst episode I've seen, but Simpson Tide was when I knew The Simpsons were over. A series of non sequiturs and self-referential parody where every joke seemed to fall flat, as much due to the timing of the gags as the gags themselves. It seemed like whoever was making it didn't even care. Also: Required reading for everything about The Simpsons turning to crap.
  14. Diablo III

My aunt would take issue with someone claiming they beat solitare because they saw the end cinematic.
  15. DOTA 2

Yup. I'd bet that would work ok in AR DM as well.
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

On the question of "why do they care about sex so much", I think this does a good job of explaining it without excusing it: http://badassdigest.com/2014/08/31/why-i-feel-bad-for-and-understand-the-angry-gamergate-gamers/ particularly: "Let me tell you where these kids are coming from, because I used to come from there. The first thing that’s happening is that they’re mostly males who are socially unaccepted. They’re outsiders, losers, weirdos and freaks. And most of them aren’t just male, they’re white males. What’s happening is that these men are feeling powerless in their own lives, and then along comes someone like Anita Sarkeesian telling them that as white men they are the MOST powerful group in the world. And that they should be aware of this privilege and they should be careful how they exert it. Imagine the confusion this causes. These kids feel like the bottom of the heap, ignored and hated and mocked and here comes this woman - who is successful and admired and gets Joss Whedon to retweet her videos - telling them that they’re actually part of an invisible system keeping her down. This simply can’t compute for these guys." Gaming used to be the the social Chateaux D'If that badly socialised nerds went to when they weren't invited to parties. Now the parties are being thrown in their cell and they're still not invited.
  17. I Had A Random Thought...

I'm 100% convinced the events of Total Recall* actually happened. There were too man sinister shots coming from Lori and Harry (his wife and buddy respectively) before he got his Recall trip. Hauser, the guy who is turned into Quaid, had contacted the resistance during an earlier attempt to infiltrate them and even earned the trust of some of the fringe members (including Melina), but had pulled out when he found out about the psychics. To get around the psychics, Hauser and Cohaagen created Douglas Quaid. The Quaid package Hauser received included the subliminal image of Melina, the resistance member whose trust he'd gained and was programmed to want to go to Mars and put in a situation where the only way he could go was by visiting Recall, assuring he'd get the 2nd part of his programming: Blue Skies on Mars. Blue Skies on Mars was a trigger setup beforehand by Cohaagen and Howser to trigger the 2nd phase of the programming and was also a joke between themselves since they knew what the alien machinery could do. The techs say they don't recognize the program and assume it's new. Why bother? I'm guessing it is to setup enough distance between Quaid's motivation and it's actual source to fool the psychics. Why do people start trying so hard to kill Quaid before he even has a chance to get the idea to get his ass to Mars? Richter. Richter always intended to kill Hauser / Quaid for cuckolding him, which is why the assassins are trying so hard to kill Quaid, contrary to Cohaagen's wishes. Cohaagen really is surprised that the plan works out in the the end (and it does, the resistance is smashed and Quato is dead). In the end however his creation, Quaid, was made too well and ends up breaking out of the deprogramming regime and proceeds to actually fulfill the fantasy that was supposed to be a joke. *as oppose to being all a dream after he goes to Recall. Not that it actually REALLY happened. >.> <.<
  18. Looks incredible tho. edit: lol, new page. ^ is in reference to the hands talk on the last page.
  19. DOTA 2

The victory prediction taunt is kind of neat. It increments a counter when you win and resets it to zero if you lose. Spamming it and losing only griefs yourself. Maybe, just maybe, it'll get people to dig a little deeper when things get tough.
  20. Spoiled for choice: adrift in a sea of games

I'm in the process of compiling a list of all the games I've amassed since my money has exceeded my time and I'm planning on using the following methodology to get through them. 1. shuffle list 2. reveal a game to play 3. reveal the next game in the list 4. play the game on deck until I don't want to play it ever again 5. dispose of it forever 6. move game in queue to on deck and reveal the next game in the queue 7. repeat roughly 200x By removing the wealth of choice and the option to play a game later, I hope to cut through the paralysis that has allowed the backlog to get so out of control in the first place.
  21. Wasteland 2

That just sounds like bad quest design. Is the successful completion of the scenario described above mandatory?
  22. DOTA 2

Actually, due to the nature of the match making system, it'll be several dozen games before you're being matched with people who are at your skill level. Right now, 90% of the people you're being matched with are "technically" better than you at Dota. "Technically" much better. You'll be the worst person on your team, if not the game, for many many many games. You'll probably even be the reason your team loses. The biggest hurtles are map awareness and game sense and the only way to develop those are to play. A lot. BUT. Being competent at what you're doing, and knowing exactly what everyone else SHOULD be doing are two very different things. They might know how to last hit, or creep pull, or ward, but they won't have the game sense to boss anyone else around. Once your confident in your own abilities, the venom will roll off your back and you'll be able to pick out the useful tidbits.
  23. DOTA 2

Play with friends if possible. If not possible play solo and friend people who aren't assholes as you meet them. Approach the game like you're learning a skill. Research the basic mechanics. Practice against bots. Read guides and watch VoDs. Mute anyone who's shitty to you for at least the first 100 games. If they're getting matched with you, they also suck and their insights and communication aren't worth the abuse. After that, you'll at least be able to tell the real criticism from the pointless whining. Dota 2 is a very good game, but it isn't a fun game until you're at least competent. That'll take dozens if not hundreds of games and more hours beyond that watching and reading about it. Does that sound appealing? EDIT: I think this sounds unnecessarily hostile. Sorry.
  24. Super Time Force from Capy

By the end of the intro levels they were finite, but you still got ~30. The tutorial did a good job of breaking me out of being stingy with the rewinds. I'm actually pretty sure the ideal play through involves basically using as many resets as is necessary to allow your final incarnation to simply walk from the beginning of the level to the end. Which is rad.
  25. Super Time Force from Capy

Am I right in thinking that the number of resets you use doesn't matter as long as you don't run out? The rating at the end of each level only seems to take time left and the collectables you found into consideration (so far at least).
