Well, there was very direct fallout of Dan getting hired that flowed right into GG and that's never really been acknowledged by GB. Something I think attributed to GB staying silent on it for so long. And I wonder if it will result in them doubling down on just hiring within their comfort zone. I mostly like Dan and think he's is a good addition to GB, it's just the context.

GB West is basically the Drive Time Zoo of video games, which is fine and their thing. Nobody really does it better. I don't really interact with GB these days outside of the podcast so it feels like Vinny has just disappeared. I hope they go out of their way to hire someone outside of their comfort zone and start doing podcast-y stuff. Maddy Myers would actually be a really good fit, but I don't blame her for never wanting anything to do with GB ever again since the community took a massive dump on her in the summer. Same for Jen Frank. Justice Points is really good, they should just hire Apple Cider. They don't have anyone who knows anything about MMOs anyways.

It's funny how a journo talking to other journo's on a mailing list or giving Zoe Quinn a dollar on Patreon means it's open season on their life and livelihood, but it is a logical fallacy to even raise your eyebrows at a GG thought leader writing content for literal nazis.

That's how I read it as well: when the mother claimed Adnan's prosecution of racially motivated, Koenig gut reaction was to be skeptical and then she spends the episode revealing that Adnan's mother was largely correct. Maybe what people are taking issue with is that she presents her initial skepticism as being natural and relatable (as it will be for sheltered white people, it somewhat was for me) and doesn't further unpack it.

They've talked themselves into a position where they can't ever give ground on the idea that mere emotions (like, say, disgust or horror) could justify "censorship" of any "speech" so long as that speech is "technically legal". After all, that would put them on the slippery slope to recognizing the legitimacy of criticizing sexy ladies in video games. It is literally pointless to talk to these people.

Spelunky is the best game to expand the playing audience. Depression Quest is the best cultural ambassador for video games. Half-Life is my subjectively best video game. Games like Mario are games for everyone. They bring people together. They're inviting. They're like VW Beetles. Yeah, it's a purpose built thing, but it's made to exist alongside the rest of your life.Games like Bayonetta, I think, come from the same place as ludicrous hyper cars like the Paganni Zonda. They aspire to simply be the best at one thing and aggressively reject the idea that it should need to accommodate any other consideration. You'll never even look cool when (or if) you are able to find the limits they are able to reach; you just look like a crazy person. As a result, they are loud and stupid looking and seem totally insane and pointless to anyone not prepared to meet them on their own terms. But, if you are prepared and if you're not worried about looking like a crazy person, they are fucking great.

Only downside to the dual screen setup is that the stream and the client aren't synced up. My personal pref is Stream / VODs and then client to deep dive into one player's perspective. The XMG Captains Draft tournament has been fun! I recommend checking it out. The sound quality was super fine! Don't sweat it! On par with (if not streets ahead of) any other Dota podcast.
