  1. Hmm, well my post exploded in BB code, so I'll just try this again... Edit: I'll spoiler this just in case, a response to Jonmad17 regarding later Quiet related missions. I dunno, even outside the Quiet stuff, I never felt the player surrogate stuff at all, but I think I have a different way of looking at games than most people. I play games to get to be someone else, so silent protagonists just don't interest me much. It's part of why Half-Life never really did it for me I guess.
  2. I'd buy the player surrogate angle if 1) The camera was consistent about the times you were watching a scene with Big Boss in it, versus watching from Big Boss's eyes 2) Big Boss as a character didn't express complete disinterest in Quiet, thus having his own opinion instead of being a surrogate 3) I had the option to just not look or tell her to stop (yes there are limited camera controls in some instances, but not in others, and not very well made anyway) I dunno, I'm especially passionate about this since I almost didn't buy the game because of it, yet it's probably one of the better games I've ever played. I'd be a lot less opinionated if the game was bad, but the fact that it's so good and yet missed the mark in such a huge way on this one thing really stings. Edit: Nick, there are still a few brand new missions that are well worth playing.
  3. Threw some of that in a spoiler for those that are easily annoyed by those things. You might want to go back and edit your post to do the same.
  4. Is there a game mode that just goes without the quest stuff, grand strategy style? The parts of EU4 that always bugged me is when they have events to try and force things to be historically accurate, and it sounds like this quest system is doing roughly the same thing.
  5. I Had A Random Thought...

So, I've been watching YouTube a lot the last couple of days and they're really advertising the movie Black Mass pretty hard, but not one advertisement has actually told me anything about what that movie is actually about. I hate trailers that give away the whole movie plot as much as the next person, but there's got to be some middle ground here.
  6. Those are the things that Gone Home promised which, despite how much I like that game, ended up a middling success. It might be easier in 2d, or it might not.
  7. Social Justice

I somehow missed/spaced the fact that he was arrested, not just detained at school. That's fucked up.
  8. Bedlam - A post apocalypse Banner Saga

If they're always being ambushed, you'd think they'd move in formation all the time.
  9. Social Justice

I guess I had a lot of times where faculty were shitty to me when I was younger, so my expectation of faculty to always be shitty is pretty high.
  10. Social Justice

We live in a world where someone can get suspended for bringing a squirt gun to school. I'm just saying that the reaction is somewhat in line with the ridiculous paranoid crap that goes on in schools all the time. Do I think that people are way too paranoid across the board, certainly. Do I think that a white kid would have been treated differently in this situation, maybe.
  11. Social Justice

The argument wasn't that they thought it was a bomb, it's that they thought he made something that looks like a bomb to try and cause panic. They're saying it's the equivalent to yelling "Fire." You didn't start a fire, but you caused panic by making people think there was a fire. I go back and forth on this one, because I went to school with people who would do that sort of shit to try and disrupt class, but you'd think that no prior history of being a problem-causer would earn you a little charity.
  12. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

If you loose a soldier with a unique skill, the side-op that provides that skill will re-open, though it does seem to happen at random as well.
  13. The Last of Us

Could be other characters elsewhere in the same world. I wish that more game series did that.
  14. Feminism

To be fair to KU... Still, I'm really glad I went to a university where the Greek system was against the rules.
  15. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

Basically, it creates a ratio of value to weight that under which I won't bother picking up an item anymore. It starts fairly low, and raises throughout the game as my personal bank gets bigger. I think I ended up over 100 caps/lb by the time I finished NV.
  16. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

There are many different ways to accomplish this mission, some more luck/bs than others. Additionally, I just saw the ending...
  17. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Some Mission 16 hints: Mission wise, I just unlocked up to mission 42, so I think I've only got a few left to go, then we can chat.
  18. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

OK, FOB stuff is seriously unbalanced. Maybe I'm just bad at it, I dunno, but it's near impossible to invade anything at this point for me. I've advanced enough so I'm not getting any scrubs who haven't setup defenses anymore, and I just don't understand how it's possible to stealth with so many drones and soldiers out there. Then, if I decide to Rambo it instead, a defender comes in and manages to one shot me with a tranq pistol from across the map, when I'd swear I've hit them like three times in the head myself. I don't know why I keep pounding my head against it. I want it to be fun, it just isn't.
  19. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Interesting. Not surprising given certain scenes in the trailers and such.
  20. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

I followed the House path until he wanted me to destroy the Brotherhood. I was tagging along with the Brotherhood companion for a good chunk of the game and that wasn't going to fly. I was surprised that the game handled my sudden change of course fairly well, but I still don't remember the end that well. It felt like mangled mess.
  21. Bedlam - A post apocalypse Banner Saga

Nice, added to my wish list.
  22. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Watching the GB Quicklook, you shake the shoe in build mode, you get the high heel. When you play with it, it seems to operate exactly the same.
  23. Mad Max

I guess mainly a Fury Road spoiler, but continues on from that spoiler above Have you ever seen Max Max 1 before? It's pretty rough, I'd recommend Road Warrior first, then going back to Mad Max 1 if you're really into it.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

    It's a reskin of kuribo's shoe.
  25. If you, like me, used to watch wrestling in the 90s, you might find this entertaining. Same as with TV theme tunes, wrestler entrance themes have a good early punch that fits well as helicopter music.
