  1. Half-Life 3

I'd like to think that every time someone comes up with a credible leak of Half-Life 3's existence, it gets delayed another 6 months.
  2. Zunless Zee (Sunless Sea)

Main profits in the game come from completing story lines. The money you make from trading, smuggling, or killing things is more for keeping your fuel reserves stocked until you get the next big score. Edit: Your first goal should be to get a child (scion.) As that will allow you to pass a few limited things to your next captain.
  3. General Video Game Deals Thread

Banished is pretty fun for 10-20 hours.
  4. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

Reminds me of my awesome parents and Christmases past.
  5. Spacebase!

Hack and Slash felt a bit unfinished to me as well, so it kinda felt like getting two half-games. : ( Swerving back toward the the Pyschonauts 2 talk,,,, I dunno, DF9 doesn't bother me anymore, but I sat and thought about how many DF games I really enjoyed and I really only came up with three (Brutal Legend, Massive Chalice, and Iron Brigade) and I think two of those are more because of Brad Miur, who has since left. I really like the open studio stuff and would continue to pay for documentaries of the development process. Those were the best things to come from the Broken Age Kickstarter by far.
  6. Recently completed video games

I spent my sick day yesterday and completed two more games. Tales from the Borderlands: As someone who hasn't played Walking Dead (or really any recent Telltale games besides The Wolf Among Us) I'm not sick of this style of game like a lot of people are. I absolutely loved this game. Funny, but serious when it needed to be. Referential, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy it without playing the Pre-Sequel. Great voice acting, great graphics, great writing. It's really cool that Gearbox allowed so much to go on in their universe. Uncharted 3: I almost quit this game about half way through. If I had stopped at that point, I'd have called it the crappiest critically acclaimed game I'd ever played. Despite having three shots at it, the jumping around bits never seem to jump the way I want them to, it's often unclear where to go next and not fun to explore to find the path, the bullets don't go where the cross hair says they should which is even more frustrating when guys show up with heavy armor or shields that you have to shoot in a specific spot, checkpoints that teleport you around to bad spots, and the cinematic camera angles serve to make it even more difficult to see where you're going. But something happened in the second half where either the mechanics finally clicked with me, or they stopped laying it on so thick, because I didn't have near the problems later in the game and I found a lot of the cinematic tricks really compelling. The last couple of levels were a rush (minus a couple of times where platforms didn't appear.) I think I finally see what they're going for with this series, but I would still rather have full control of my character and camera and miss things over being forced cinematic. On the whole, I'll give it a
  7. Psychonauts 2

I only played Psychonauts a couple of years ago, so I probably missed the proper time period to really enjoy it, but I found it kinda average-ish. The fact is that I just don't enjoy platformers anymore unless they're doing something really special.
  8. Spacebase!

I was somewhat upset about SpaceBase, yes, but Massive Chalice was a pretty awesome Kickstarter project, so I guess I'm ambivalent on the whole thing in the end.
  9. I'm getting exactly what I want, a game in the Mass Effect universe that isn't attached to Shepard. I can't wait.
  10. This forum is weird (Look a new topic!)

I have seen the same problem and have chosen not to post at times. I'll say that I find your commentary particularly insightful and near my own opinions and will actually open a thread for a game I haven't played when I see your name on the most recent post. Also, I go back and read old threads for games I've just completed as well.
  11. General Video Game Deals Thread

As I mentioned earlier, I bought Tales from the Borderlands, which I am more than half way through, so that seems to be a good purchase. I also picked up Spore as I've been wanting to try out the Galactic Adventures expansion but it's been nothing but a fuss trying to install from my CD and/or to get Origin to recognize it. Oddly, though they were both running a sale at the same time, it was still half the price to pick Spore up on Steam rather than Origin.
  12. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

Complaining/spoilers for the end of the main story as well as the end of the Minutemen quest line.... Still an awesome game to actually play though.
  13. Recently completed video games

How nice of them to label themselves that way
  14. Wow, that's impressive. Might be time to dip in again.
  15. This forum is weird (Look a new topic!)

No no, that's a Post, not a post.
  16. Kerbal Space Program

I wonder if I'm just building really expensive rockets or have bad luck on missions, but the only ones I get that turn me a profit are those zone specific ones. *shrug* No worries, the designers thoughtfully included a fix for that
  17. I would say that good PC review sites list the specs they are using in the review, but I don't think there's any standard there, no.
  18. Kerbal Space Program

Most of my paying missions right now require me to take tourists to a spot on Kerbal and back and I'm just not capable of hitting a specific spot on the planet like that yet. I also hate restarting from before launch, but there's no way I could afford to keep the space program going with the number of ships I've blown up. Edit: As for Sandbox, I like to have a feeling of progression in my games, even if it's fairly superficial, plus there would be all these modules that would be pretty much useless if you don't have to collect science or work your way up from itty-bitty rockets.
  19. Recently completed video games

With my extra day off this weekend, I finished a ton of games. Cook, Serve, Delicious: I've had this on my iPad forever. I found it too easy to play on a stable surface and too difficult to play on the bouncy bus. I had a long road trip on fairly flat roads and finally got the chance to get to 5 star rating. Unlike when I played before, I tried to vary up my dishes and go for VIP recommendations, but I never really found any of that compelling when I can rotate between the same 8 dishes that I know really well and get full-day perfect runs. I guess I'm just not into these sorts of games, because I've heard nothing but glowing recommendations and I found it resoundingly Fallout 4: In this case, finished means I completed one faction story, the main story, and am ready to put it aside for the moment until paid mods are available. While the game play was pretty awesome, I think I made some bad choices that ended up giving the story a flat tire. The thing that really struck me about Fallout this time around is that there's a ton of fighting, but not much talking. Fallout 3 felt empty in a way I enjoyed, so when you ran into someone there was a decent chance it was someone nice. Fallout 4 turns the content knob up to 11, but does it by adding more fights, not more people. I was exhausted by the end, and the charisma perks to talk people down never seemed to work for me. I'm also independently wealthy with ammo coming out my ears and tons of items stashed aside to sell should things ever get desperate (I never sold or used a single pre-war money for instance.) Next time I play through I'm going to go with hard difficulty, no weapon or armor mod perks, and as little building as possible. Just Cause 2: I finally got around to playing this after purchasing it for the multiplayer mod that I only ever played once. It was surprisingly brief, concise, and fun. The end missions were cool and interesting. Really, a lot of good things to say about everything but the story, which I just skipped through after listening to the faction leader monologues for the 4th time. Halo: ODST: Over the last year I've been playing through all the Bungie Halo games with my wife. We finally rounded out the content available on the Master Chief Collection by finishing off ODST. The last few missions were as good as I remember, and the facial animation was even worse. Still it played very smoothly and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a Halo fan and hasn't played it. Keep Talking and No One Explodes: For multiplayer games, I consider "finished" to be meaningfully experiencing all the content at least once. My Cousin and I got to the last needy module, so I'll call this one complete for now. That's not to say I won't keep bringing it out at parties. It's a hell of a game that only suffers because each player's relative experience is such a factor it makes it hard to play with new folks sometimes.
  20. Kerbal Space Program

I think I need to restart in Science mode. Managing finances in the full career mode has really put me off.
  21. Painting tabletop miniatures

Most of my colors are still viable, so I'm going to take a shot at using Vallejo Matte Medium on my two pots that are close to mud consistency. It was a fairly cheap pickup on Amazon and I think it's pretty close to that acrylic polish you pictured. At worst, I just have to re-buy those colors.
  22. Painting tabletop miniatures

So, I just decided to dig out my citadel paints and try this again. They're about 3 years old at this point and thankfully haven't dried out completely, but they are a bit thick and gloopy. Is there anything I can add to them? I was thinking water, but I also have some acrylic paint thinner I use to liquify my canvas paints some.
  23. Rainbow Six: Siege

The fact that not all the terrorists are on the map at the start of terrorist hunt ruins the game for me really. I guess I was hoping for tough but fair like GRAW used to be. As for versus multiplayer, I no longer have the reaction time to compete.
  24. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

I beat it today. I'm still processing and don't want to throw up a ton of spoilers, but man the ending is unsatisfying. I mean, I don't think Bethesda can end a game any other way really, but the black and white nature of video game moral choice was particularly egregious in this one. I'm going to put it down for now. Hopefully, when paid mods come out to play there will be some good options that will make a second play interesting.
  25. General Video Game Deals Thread

I decided to grab Tales from the Borderlands and am trying to resist getting Civilization: Beyond Earth.
