Oooh, I might get to actually play it Thursday night. Or, it might take for-absolutely-ever to unpack even though I've downloaded the whole thing, and I'll have to go to bed.

This game has gotten into a habit of crashing on loading transitions for me. The first couple of times didn't bother me since I literally stepped inside the forest, did a couple of things, then stepped out. This time it crashed as I was entering the capital after killing my second griffin and actually getting a real reward in pinions and such. The first thing that can kill a "save anywhere" game for me is having to save every few minutes because I'm worried about it crashing.

I just recently found out that Venture Brothers was running again. I don't even know when/what the last episode I saw was.

So, I've read some spoilers of the +1 stuff, but it's made it even more cryptic. Can someone give me a pointer where I should be looking?

I've never really spent much time customizing my soldiers. At most, I've googled for famous people from the country and renamed the better soldiers so I can keep track of them.

Purchased. Tis the season for exciting games. -
Straight up warrior right now. I wasn't a fan of the slow attacks at first, but I've gotten better with them and I can really put a hurting on groups of enemies. The difficulty of the griffin was not having a lot of ways to bring it down, and the fact that the lightning swoop would one-hit everyone in the way except myself, but it still took away over 50% of my life. I actually ran out of stamina items for the first time, since once I grabbed on I was churning through them just trying to hold on and do the most damage possible. It wasn't hard per se, just long and annoying.

Just realized that this game comes out on the weekend which I'll have to be moving everything in my townhouse for a complete plumbing replacement, and then there's the Superbowl. So I guess I won't be able to play much.

After posting that angry comment, I blazed through the sandy ruins in one shot, which means I completed three areas total yesterday with little or no problem. I guess it's a character flaw that I was so frustrated by that one puzzle despite doing so well on other bits of the game. I think I'm going to have to look up spoilers on what the +1s are, because I'm worried I'm going to have to comb the whole world a second time to get the puzzles that I apparently just walked past. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but I'm also starting to feel some of luster rubbing off as I get further into the game, so I don't know how much more time I really want to put in. Edit: Looked up some vague spoilers earlier in the thread, now I'm really annoyed.

326+0 puzzles, I'm underneath the top of the mountain, and I'm really not enjoying these puzzles. I definitely started feeling motion-sick here, and now I'm stuck at what I think might be the very last puzzle in the game? Edit: And it sucks to end stuck in the middle like this, because now I'm just angry and frustrated.

I've resorted to drawing/notes/constructed Tetris pieces about 5 times, and then to taking screenshots and having them up on my second screen maybe another 10 or 15. I found all those times satisfying because it turned out that I had gone to these extreme means for a puzzle that I really, actually needed it. It would break me very quickly if I was making drawings and such but the solution ended up being simple and not worth the time of sketching it out. So far, my biggest complaint is that a decent amount of the game doesn't require an environment, it could just be a menu with "Puzzle 1-1, Puzzle 1-2, etc" written on it, but then I hit a couple of parts in a row that actually used the environment in interesting ways, so that complaint has been somewhat mollified.

Yeah, I'm playing the second tier melee character. Chimeras are chumps for me.

There is a non-permadeath mode you can turn on, but I can definitely understand why it wouldn't click with someone. I was so very close to deleting it from my machine when it finally started to make sense, and then it ended up as my game of the year.

I'm 236+0 now, I guess I'm just not observant enough to find those +'s.

The Division - Tom Clancy Presents Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division, By Ubisoft

What I hear from friends is that some of the reasons to go into the Dark Zone are glitched, so PvP is pretty much all there is to do in there right now. Hopefully, there will be some co-op stuff later on to encourage working together. -
Bought this Friday night, at 165+0 after 7 hours. I love it so far. Like many others, my only real problem with the game is not always understanding where the tutorials for a section start, and not always knowing if I've gotten to the end of a section. I guess there's at least one area I thought I'd completed that I either haven't, or doesn't the same big finish as a lot of the other areas. Thankfully, I just got to the boat for the first time, so that's given me a little bit better idea how things are structured. I've got a couple of areas I haven't touched yet, but also a couple of areas that I think I'm going to have to comb over a little better. I'm not looking forward to the time when I've only got a few left and the gameplay will be about hunting down the puzzles, instead of solving them. Edit: Oh, there were three puzzles I was stuck on when I went to bed last night, and ideas about three of them occurred to me as I was getting to sleep. Two of those were correct, so stepping away for a bit really was a huge benefit.

The inevitable happened: AI can now play Go
Dewar replied to riadsala's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
I actually found "The Path of Go" on Xbox 360 Arcade to be a pretty good basic trainer. The AI isn't necessarily great, but it was good enough to beat me at least. Plus some good chess-playbook-type lessons. -
Maybe that's what the Alien Hunter DLC will amount to?

Idle Thumbs 247: The Clone Progenitors

It's been The Country's Best Yogurt for as long as I can remember, though I'm not surprised that it's meant different things at different times. -
Soldier customization options I guess. I really liked the Enemy Within, but that's definitely not something that you can replicate with today's "season pass" trend.

It's pretty much the AAA game I've been looking forward to since E3 last year, so I'm just going to buy it and be done with it. These days I don't pre-order much, and even when I do I usually wait until the last few days. You only really save 5 bucks and get a soundtrack for pre-ordering the $75 edition though, so I'll wait and buy the DLC if I'm still interested.

I think the X1 controller just works if you plug it in with a USB cable. Maybe I'll try that tonight.
