  1. Stardew Valley

Yeah, there were a couple of times when I was trying to water that I couldn't get the red box to be in the right location so I had to step away from the garden and walk back. Other than that, I only used the mouse to place buildings and seeds. Man combat in the mine is a ton easier with the controller though.
  2. Stardew Valley

I played for a few hours last night with a controller and I found the whole thing a lot easier and more relaxing. Not sure if it was my mood, or the controller, or what, About to build I silo now (didn't know it was so cheap on the cash) and then get some chickens I guess. Also need to save up money for the new fishing pole that just opened, and finally upgrade my sword so the mines are a little easier.
  3. The Next President

Maybe you're like me and your work (or wherever you're posting from) blocks Twitter?
  4. What's for Breakfast?

This was a hit by the way. They ended up coming out pretty thick, almost like a crumpet.
  5. The Next President

It's next president material in that I hope that it loses the republican candidate some votes, but I guess this feels like it's just turning into the election 2016 thread now?
  6. The Next President

Ug, Supreme Court. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/17/us/politics/obama-supreme-court-nominee.html Obama chooses a moderate judge, republicans insist on refusing to confirm the nomination. I guess Obama called their bluff and then they doubled-down. Hopefully this get some play during the Senate elections.
  7. The McElroy Family of Products

Got about half way through the Murder on the Rockport Express and was laughing so hard in the elevator and on the bus that people were looking at me like I was crazy. This is worth 5 bucks a month.
  8. My online friends have had their eye on this Korean MMO for quite a while. Their pitch to me as the US release approached was "the crafting is really complicated" which they knew is a sure way to lure me in. The crafting is indeed complicated, with shades of building an economic empire, The economy is almost entirely player run, and it's a complete disaster at the moment, in all the ways that let you exploit it for massive profits. Besides that, Black Desert is also very pretty and has the best "active" battles I've seen in an MMO to date. Dodging feels really quick to respond, and it's really great when you manage to get behind an enemy for a bonus damage back attack. Really, it's almost the complete package of what I'm looking for in a game. It's main flaw is that it's somewhat inscrutable. It's very Korean, with all the poor documentation and unusual design decisions that go along with that. Crafting is really complicated and runs off an energy system similar to a free to play phone game. It really wants you to just leave the game logged in all the time, it even will minimize to the tray so you can leave your character auto-fishing or even sleeping to regain energy so you can craft more the next time you log in. Anyway, it doesn't seem like a ton of people are playing on the English servers yet. Well, the servers are always full, but not a large enough group of people to have reliable wikis, so it's a lot of feeling your way through it in a Dark Souls kinda way. I thought I'd see if anyone else around here is playing, so we can trade tips or whatever.
  9. I'm so bummed that this is a PS4 exclusive at the moment, but I guess I have plenty of games to play anyway.
  10. I had no idea what this game was actually going to be. I'm really intrigued now.
  11. Stardew Valley

Oh, I thought the field snacks required a kitchen. That's something at least. I read about the earthquake thing when the spa was mentioned in this week's Idle Thumbs epidsode thread. I can't remember if I had an earthquake or not. I did check a while back and that path was still blocked. I guess I expected a more ceremonious opening of that path so I haven't checked again since. Some of the foraging stuff is so valuable that I've been selling most of it. In the end, it's difficult to balance how much money a full energy bar is worth in this game. It's worth probably more than I think, but my response to feeling poor all the time is to sell every single thing I get my hands on, which might be hurting my future profitability. Edit: After hearing how into it Dan Ryckert is, I'm definitely going to give it another shot, if I can ever pull myself away from Black Desert, which has some similar farming type tasks in it, but in more of an economic empire sort of way.
  12. Stardew Valley

Hmm, I'm midway through the first summer. I have a copper axe and watering can, upgraded the first backpack, have a few small buildings on the farm (Recycler, Preserves Jar, Furnace) and just built my coop. My daily grind is pretty much watering my 40 or so crops, then being down to like 1/3 of an energy bar and doing fishing, various collecting, community center work. I feel like I basically get nothing done in a given day because of my energy bar, but I feel like the cost to buy food to refill it is so high that I'm never going to get the rest of my tool upgrades if I keep paying for it *shrug* Maybe I picked the wrong stuff to build with my tiny bit of iron I've gotten so far? I just don't know how I'd be making more money right now. Nothing seems to sell for much and prices of everything interesting are in the two to four thousand range.
  13. Oh, yeah, Doomsday Machine is probably one of the more memorable episodes, even though it's not as Star Trek-y as most episodes.
  14. Hmm, maybe that's why I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere in Stardew Valley, I pretty much water then do one thing each day, and that's it. Also, there are baths that restore energy? What the hell? Where are they? That would solve a lot of my problems.
  15. I can forgive that they don't understand what all the widgets mean on the nav-ball, it was only recently that I finally understood that for myself. But someone needs to remind them that when they killed the poor Kerbal on the moon with the jet pack, they made it 10 KM across the Mun's surface fighting the Mun's gravity and still had plenty of mono left. That being said, I knew exactly what I was getting into for this episode and I enjoyed it quite a bit. What happened at the end has never happened to me once, even though I rarely plan my re-entry to hit anywhere specific. I learned something today.
  16. The Big VR Thread

Precise enough to pet a cat. looks good to me.
  17. I think it's to the highest level, or maybe some sort of weighted average. I know that with two of us at 15 (one of whom was party lead) and two at 25, everything we were fighting in encounters and side missions was skulls to me. Missions, on the other hand, don't seem to scale much.
  18. I might try that. My fear is always being the only person in the game who doesn't understand where to go. I guess it's a hangover from MMO dungeons and such, but none of the missions in The Division have been all that hard to find your way around.
  19. Might be worth throwing in "Mudd's Women" to go with "I, Mudd." I don't remember it being particularly good or bad, but it makes "I, Mudd" a lot better.
  20. Tales from the Borderlands

One of the best games of last year, for sure.
  21. This might be a bad time to mention that there are respecs in Dark Souls 2? Stats can be changed at least, if you've wasted weapon upgrade materials that might be more of an annoyance.
  22. Stardew Valley

Hmmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've found the game kinda unengaging. Maybe I'm just not making enough money to keep things opening up?
  23. I think it's a very good game played with others, and an average-ish one played solo. Unfortunately, a couple of my main internet friends had the week off for various reasons, so they've leveled way past me. It gets boring real quick when you're just waiting for others to shoot the skull-level enemies because you only do a sliver of damage to them. Oh, and the group size of 4 kinda bites too, since by the time I get home from work (west coast) those friends have already filled up a group of four, and I don't really enjoy playing alone, so I fall further behind, etc. On the plus side, they've capped out, so at least they're not getting any further ahead.
