I play on the bus a lot, and usually have 3D off there or else my neck starts to hurt from trying to hold my head steady. When I play at home, I typically have the 3D at about 50%.

That's a shame, the Giant Bomb vids made it look really cool.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

They also bought that game when it was half way done already, more as a marketing tool than a profit making machine. -
Not bad, at least a few things on there I'm interested in. I really need to beat Dead Rising 2 at some point.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

I imagine Fallout 3 won't be getting a patch. I need to hurry up and play that again. -

Hmm, I still enjoy reading the dialog and I read most of it for at least the first 10 hours of the game. Maybe that's why it didn't feel so bland to me, though I agree the visual style is mostly boring with just a few moments of brilliance in the bigger cities toward the end. The overall story there is about destiny and determinism, so a lot of the "choices" in the game aren't really choices at all. I can understand how that would be offputting, but I kinda dug the overall theme. *shrug* -

I apparently have a lot different taste in games than a lot of people around here -

I really liked it It gets significantly harder as it goes on, making the stealth kills and some of the special abilities on weapons and armor more useful, but if it feels bland to you, it's not going to get any better. Edit: That should be a frowny face, not an angry one. -

I was struggling for a while last night on that mission myself. That's the one where you have to kill the spies, right? What bug did you run into? -
I played SR3 on Xbox so I guess I won't know until tomorrow. My video card is great but my processor just barely meets their minimum specs.

The more you play (well) the better people you get matched in with, and the less that sort of stuff should happen. Though I'm not really one to talk, I've only got 20 games under my belt.

I live in the area and will be at PAX for all 4 days.

I guess it doesn't mean much to me because I don't recognize those names, but it's just generally pretty silly regardless.

I'm not trying to say that this particular exploit is a danger. I'm more saying that they don't seem to care about security in any meaningful way, and that worries me from any company. Also, I believe that you can have any MAC address and it will work as long as you have the right SSID. It just seems like shoddy workmanship, that's all.
-
They didn't even attempt any sort of real security on this? It would have taken a few minutes to set up a whitelist on the server. Do you trust a company that's leaving thing this open with your personal information?

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

It means you won't be able to purchase it if you don't own it already. Edit 1: Damn, they're shutting off Zune as well. I wonder how that's going to work. Edit 2: MS shutting down another service that I use every day might have just sealed my decision on buying an Xbox One. -
I don't understand why people will break the law and endanger themselves to jaywalk, but then walk so slow that I catch up with them by the time we get to the next intersection.

I scored this from Green Man Gaming for $40, so yay. Hopefully it runs all right on my computer.

It's news like this that prevents me from buying my own 3DS. It's fairly apparent that Nintendo just doesn't understand the internet.

GFWL stuff is lame. There's a lot of DLC for games that's locked up in that crappy system. I'm glad that I got to play Minerva's Den while I still could I guess. Edit: Hmm, I was working my way through the Fallout 3 DLC on PC, I wonder if I'm screwed now. Edit 2: Aha, So you just can't buy new things. That's good at least. -
Maximum disappointment confirmed - Prey gets a sequel

What? Why... huh? If they want to make a spiritual successor to System Shock 2, why do they need to take an established IP and do it. Why not just call it Ttechshock or something like the Bioshock guys did? -

Sweet, I'll be there and get to play it -
Wow, GB doesn't give too many five star scores. I'm looking forward to diving into this in a few weeks.

Yeah, it's a tough line to walk between listening to the demands and caving to them. I'm still happy we're hearing about this stuff though, it shows there's someone in MS thinking about stuff, which has not been my experience with their prodcuts of late.

Some fiction books do hold some "value" because they can cause you to look at social/psychological/philosophical issues from a new and different angle. I really like Terry Pratchet that. Each book has a lot of fun comedy, but it is also satirical, making a point about how things are in the real world. Other books are just a fun read, which each person is going to pull value from (or not) based on their own likes, dislikes, and personal experience.
