Hmm, after playing Papers Please, I'm really not in the mood for another despotism sim. Maybe Dear Leader will grab me a little more after I watch the production process.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Dewar replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Artorias was definitely one of the hardest bosses I fought. Both him and the next boss will maul you if you rely too much on blocking. If you're playing a fat-roller, you might look at trying a few times with less armor. -

: ( That sucks. I didn't go back to the Asylum until way later so I didn't have the doll. I don't suppose you have any soul items in your inventory that you can use to level? It may be worth it to spend a couple of the boss souls if you're not planning on making weapons with them. Otherwise, I don't blame you for quitting. I almost stopped when I tried to go through the back route into Blight Town, without having any of the levels that the Depths or Lower Undead Berg gives you. -
mIRC is what I used to use as well. I should probably shoot that guy some money at some point.

My experience with IRC hasn't been too hot, but I'm willing to give it another go. What client do people prefer these days?

The main advantage of Google is using screen share, even if you're just gonna chat over text and not use audio.

We managed to get 6 people in there at once today. It was really fun paging around and taking a look at people's art and such. I'm definitely into making this an every-Sunday affair (since my wife works that day I have plenty of time,) but would also be interested in showing up whenever would be good for folks.

Sorry, I was there for an hour and a half and no one showed. I'll be back on shortly. Edit: And now it's empty again. I shouldn't have given in to the siren's call of BF4.

Nice, I might pick up the kindle version of the 3.0 book while I wait for the 4.0. Any ETA on that?

I think at the moment we're just talking about hanging out together on occasion and helping out/chatting. If we get a group of people of about equal skill levels, we might make some sort of official project later. Edit: I'm hopping onto the hangout now No one's on yet so I'm going to grab myself some lunch really quick and be back.

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo
Dewar replied to JonCole's topic in Video Gaming
That would be a cool mod to make like the Patrick Kleppek sprite pack. It would be even cooler if someone could load it into Remo's game without letting him know. -
If you could do it, that could make for some really awesome middleware.

Is this the book you're talking about? http://www.amazon.com/Unity-3-x-Game-Development-Essentials/dp/1849691444/ref=la_B004N71HBC_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391814580&sr=1-1 I find it a lot easier learning from a book than watching videos or even reading webpages. I guess I'm just old fashioned.

Well the archives are free, so I'd imagine the classes are as well.

I'm really interested in this game, but I just don't think I could handle playing it. I have enough stress in my life as is. Anyone know any good Rust streamers?

My feelings on Fathomless are about the same as yours, So I trimmed down to Ether, Scavenger, Derelict. I get the feeling that a lot of people watched every single video, I was a bit lax and just wrote down the 6 or so games I liked the one sentence pitch on, then only watched those. No matter what wins, I'm looking forward to the videos more than the prototypes.

It's time to start shopping for a rental. So far, it looks like it's not going to be possible to to get a place that meets my expectations for the price we want (big surprise there.) So now it's time to start compromising. I was really hoping to rent a house where we wouldn't have to share walls (or at the bare minimum floor/celings) with other folks, but I don't think I can afford any of the places around here. It would almost be cheaper to keep the 4 bedroom we share now and pay the entire rent ourselves. I absolutely hate rental shopping.

I was under the impression that the game was quite expensive to make, that's all.

Having long hair seems like a pain in the ass, I don't fault anyone for wanting to get rid of it. And who in their right mind would wear high heels?

The Other Paradox Games (Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron)
Dewar replied to Gormongous's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Well, it was on sale for $15 at the humble store and my friends have been playing it, so I decided to grab it anyway. I guess we'll see how it goes. -
I'm feeling in about the same boat right now, but I plan on taking another listen to the pitches and at least picking something. Edit: I've narrowed it down to four, none of which I think has even been mentioned on the thread so far. I guess I just like a different kind of game. Ether Fathomless Scavenger Derelict Edit2: I guess Derelict has gotten a mention or two.

I guess it all depends on how much the game cost to make, but 250k sounds kinda low to me.

Now that the final character wipe is complete, I'm hosting a server on my old desktop here at my house. We have a pretty heavy duty connection, so I should be able to leave this up 24/7 for any thumbs who want to hop in. I've got a security plugin running, but nothing is turned on at the moment. I've appointed a few admins that can start turning on planet protection and such if it turns out we need it. My IP here is 50.135.109.241.

Enemy Starfighter: Freespace + Flotilla (or: X-Wing + Homeworld)
Dewar replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
Indeed, but so very few of them excite me. I really wish that X:Rebirth had turned out decently because X:3 with a better interface and more features sounds awesome. I backed Elite, but I'm not sure how that's really going to turn out. Everytime I try a new space sim, I'm diasspointed and I put it down in a couple of days.
