i had problems even getting into a CTF match last night.

The smart pistol gets really good when you get the mod that lowers target acquisition time. The amped smart pistol is ridiculous.

Yeah, we're not talking like the hell that I lived in when working on the Microsoft campus for peanuts as a contractor or anything. These are all fairly decent places, but only one thing in our price range has been a good fit. Unfortunately, it was the first thing we looked at and we didn't realize how good it was until someone else already had an application in. We were trying to avoid an apartment, but it might be better to take an apartment right in the location we want to be rather than get the town house/real house we want but way off the beaten path.

I did manage to get the better of Britain with my navy, but then Russia's land forces came in and ate my lunch. Both of them blobbed pretty hard right off the bat and now they're allied somewhere in that convoluted chain I posted a few posts ago.

My problem has actually been the North Sea trade node. Though I have Scandinavia and have a few areas bordering it, England is simply dominating there and I can't get any trade out of it. I ended up finally sending all my traders east toward Russia as they didn't seem to be rocking the trade quite as hard. I've tried collecting directly in the new world, with fairly lousy luck, but that might just be where I decided to colonize. The fact that I used the random new world option makes any recommendations there kinda pointless however.

While the smart pistol might not be the most efficient killing machine ever, the fact that it tells you whenever any enemy is within the targeting range and bracket is a godsend. The little triangles over your allies' heads just don't show up enough to tell you what's a threat and what isn't. I find myself trying to mark enemies, BF4 style, just so I can see them a little clearer.

So it looks like we were one day late securing the only rental that we've looked at that we've actually liked. Options are dwindling quickly. We're not exactly in emergency time yet or anything, but it's getting a little bit disheartening.

No services crashing in the event log? Wireless drivers updated? It's certainly starting to sound like a hardware failure.

Except I started as Denmark so my main trading hub is a few layers deep from the new world, so I can't divert trade directly. Maybe I just don't understand how trade works.

Could be an IP address conflict? Can you ping any other machines on your network while this is going on?

That's a shame, I really liked that feature, even if it got me into trouble a few times.

I didn't notice this until now. I was totally destroying in campaign mode but getting my butt kicked in regular multiplayer. That explains why.

Ally chains in EU4 are the most pain in the butt thing in the world. I finally got big enough to actually stand up to Austria, who's been kicking me around for more than 100 years. Then they allied with Poland (my former allies.) What I didn't know is that Poland was allied with Bohemia, who were allied with Russia (the biggest country in the game right now.) So I thought I had this managable war but ended up with Russia carpet sieging me and then forcing me to give up most of the land that I've gained since game start. So frustrated! I've also been working the colonization angle, but it doesn't seem to really benefit me much. The tarrifs I'm getting from over there are maybe a couple of ducats a month. Am I missing something there?

Rental hunting sucks.

Finally after a while of playing it on and off, I beat Rogue Legacy. I'm not sure if, given it to do over again, I would play again. It was nice to finally reach that point where I was regularly getting 4000 gold or more, but it took an awful long time to get there. Levels were fun-ish, but bosses were often way harder than anything else in the area. And man, the boss of the game was a pain in the butt. I ended up beating it in 120 generations. Is that good?

I'm happy that DF isn't relying completely on Kickstarter for projects. I like to see a nice mix.

All the bosses in 5 went down like chumps, far easier than the levels themselves. Now I just need to tackle 4-2, 4-3, then run through level 1 to the end. 4-2 kicked my butt last time I tried, hopefully my +5 blessed great axe will help out.

Oh, it will. Edit: Videos I've seen before make it look kinda mirky. It's hard to tell if it's just the Dark Souls art style or if it's being limited due to console performance.

A decent amount of people used that hack that was posted on Redit to get in to the game last week. I was on an hour after launch and went up against several level 30s. It simply wouldn't have been possible to level up that fast, no matter how pro you are. I guess it's also possible that those folks are reviewers as well.

If I hadn't already known about some of the content in the story, I might have felt the same way. It can be tough sometimes to remember how big and unmanagable teenage problems felt at the time, not to mention the fact that most of us didn't have that particular teenage problem. There were definitely a few of those journal entries that sounded pretty snotty.
