  1. They don't share the same move set. The first Giant Bomb DS2 check-in video shows the differences.
  2. I personally use the small one when I need to become human quickly for a co-op session or something. I like not always having to fight all the way to the boss to get credit. Also, another smooth stone for the slot machine is always appreciated. That being said, I did have to show both my friends where to get the large soap stone so I think a lot of people miss it. Edit: Man, reading some tantlizing hints here is really making me want to to look around for more details about certain systems in the game, but I will resist. I might have to duck back out of this thread for a while though.
  3. Having played through Dark Souls and Demon Souls exactly once, I can say that the bosses in Dark Souls 2 feel a lot more inconsistent. Some of them are pretty damn hard, and others are a pushover. Certainly nothing as hard as the DLC bosses or Smough and Ornstein yet. Mainly, the option of co-op (which I've been using extensively) has made this game easier on the whole. It's pretty easy with the small soap stone to be human at pretty much all times. The only real problems I have are the lack of information about some of the changes from Dark Souls 1, some of which I've learned here (like secret doors) and others that no one seems to know (like adaptability.)
  4. Idle Food - Cooking!

Now that I've got my own kitchen, I'd like to cook more, but before I was wipping something quick up about 3-4 times a week, with a full meal deal maybe once or twice a month. I eat a lot of beef and seafood (thus the Sous Vide machine desire) quite a few vegies, and try to stray away from bread as much as possible (though fail a lot of the time.) There's only two of us, which is why the toaster oven was handy in the last place for warming leftovers without firing up the whole oven.
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

For instance, the golden week sale going on right now has a bunch of items marked down to half price. With PSPlus, you get another half off of that, giving you a 75% total discount.
  6. Idle Food - Cooking!

The problem at the moment is some of the funny thread names make things hard to search. On the actual subject, I know, after five years, have my own kitchen. It's shown me that I'm missing quite a few kitchen type items that I was sharing with my previous house-mates. I wanted to get peoples' opinions on things such as toaster ovens, vaccuum sealers, sous vide machines, and any other cool gadgets that I might have missed in the last 5 years.
  7. Personally, I've always cared about smooth frame rates and responsive controls and graphics more than graphics quality anyway. That's part of what disappointed me about "next gen." They use that extra power to put hundreds of realistic zombies on screen rather than just making sure the game runs silky smooth.
  8. General Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I'm acumulating a backlog faster than I can possibly play. I had to make allowances on my new year's resolution to "play more games than I get" and instead "play more games than I buy."
  9. Life

I'm having the same problem with my wife. She put it off too long so we ended up just scooping everything she owns into random boxes and now she's having to sort through it at the new place instead.
  10. Hmm, so I finally read a bit of this as I'm about 20 hours in. I had no idea that all you had to do was press A to open up secret doors. That explains why my friend and I thought everyone was just trolling to try and get you to break your weapon. I spent last night backtracking through the entire area I'd beaten so far looking for secret doors. I found a couple of key doors I never opened as well, so in the end it was worth it, but it was also a bit discouraging. It would have been really nice to have been told that at the start.
  11. Armored Core: Verdict Day

With the game going cheap, it might get a renewed multiplayer presence, but I'd be mainly in it for the single player. I loved AC2, but i've only played sparingly since then.
  12. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

The Sun covenant encourages co-op and there's a couple of other ones that encourages invading or punishing other invaders, but none directly draw you into PvP as the forest covenant does.
  13. Armored Core: Verdict Day

So, with this coming up for sale on PS3, I thought I'd ask if anyone ended up playing this extensivly and how it is.
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

Hmm, is the Chrono Trigger one on there the new one with the extra videos and retranslated dialog?

Throw out as much as you can and don't worry about keeping things that are alike in the same box. In the end, you'll just be sweeping everything that you can into whatever box is closest. Oh, and make sure you don't pack boxes so heavy that you can't lift them. I learned that during my last move, and this move went much smoother as a result.
  16. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I enjoyed Anor Londo. That's where the game really clicked for me.
  17. Life

"Finished" my move, as in all the boxes are at the new place and the keys have been turned in. New place is still a mess, but a 64 inch TV somewhat makes up for that fact. I even got to enjoy one day of my week long vacation from work. Speaking of the locations that we all decide to live, the new place is about $200 more expensive than we wanted to pay for, but my wife and I decided that it was worth it to live in an area that we were excited to live in, rather than one we were just putting up with. I realize that not everyone has those sorts of options but, if you can, living somewhere you enjoy is a great confidence builder.
  18. I've been skating the line pretty close to 70%, but I'm thinking about reducing my load and buying some more max equipment load to try and get down to around 40%. I notice myself just barely failing to roll away a lot more than I used to.
  19. FTL

I'm still bad at this game. I managed to get caught down a one-way path chasing a quest in the 6th sector and had to warp through the Rebel fleet 3 times to get to the exit. I got out of there with 5 hull points left and managed to hold it together to finally get to a shop, but by then I was so behind in the scrap curve that I never really recovered. Stage 2 of the flag ship wrecked me (I never know how to deal with the drone special) and so stage 3 had no problems finishing me off. Unlike so many other one-life type games, FTL just leaves me profoundly unsatisfied when I die like that.
  20. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

    Big Hat Logan spoiler:
  21. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

That Covenant is about.... there are tears...
  22. I joined them and haven't once been summoned in to help someone out, and also haven't had any luck using Cracked Blue Orbs to invade the guilty. Maybe I'm just the completely wrong level for the majority of players since I had a couple days off and played a ton during that time.
  23. http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/dinosaurs-the-most-traumatizing-series-finale-ever I had no idea.... What....?
  24. Personally, I have found card count to be the most limiting resource for me. I have had success either on focusing on small cheap cards with a lot of options to draw more, or having lots of expensive cards so I can still have a big impact one card at a time in the mid-to-late game.
