  1. Hmm, looking over a brief flowchart style map (http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Locations) I appear to have missed a great deal of stuff on the Huntsman's Copse branch of things. I guess I'm going to have to go back and run that area again. Edit: I need to find a way to stack some more fire resistance as well. Flash Sweat and the Fire Resistance Ring aren't cutting it.
  2. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

It might not help you much now, but Dragon's Dogma was free on PS+ a while back. So, if you obsessively download PS+ games without knowing what you're getting (like me,) you might already have it laying around.
  3. So, I pushed through the fog, found the two dragon bones, and killed the next boss before my machine blue-screened for unrelated issues. Maybe it's because I'm overleveled for this area, but it seemed kinda tedious. My least favorite zone so far I'd say. It feels like it takes a lot of hits to kill anything, but nothing is really a threat because I can roll away from it pretty easy. Add to that the magic urns and the ineffectiveness of my lightning spears, and I was just annoyed by the end.
  4. XCOM Enemy Unknown

After a long time of owning the PC version of Enemy Within (I orginally played XCOM on the XBOX) I've finally gotten started. I chickened out at the last second and decided to do normal ironman instead of hard ironman, as I want to be sure to experience the new content all the way through. So far, it's been pretty easy, which I guess I shouldn't be surprised by as the first time I played I made it all the way to the final mission without a mission failure. I decided to go with Mech Suits, is there any different storyline to experience if I play through again using the biological augments?
  5. The mechanics in chromehounds pushed it toward being one of the best games of the generation, if ony the online hadn't been meh.
  6. Ah, I got stuck in the woods before that before I got that far and turned back. I was under the impression that I had explored everything and there wasn't anything left to do.
  7. I could really use some dragon bone actually. Could you clue me in where would be a good spot to farm those? I don't even remember where I got mine.
  8. Hmm, most of that isn't very useful to me, but I never though of using the Bonfire Ascetic to farm. Still PvP happens too fast to make that practical for me due to the aforementioned problems hitting with my miracles.
  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

The problem with DS1 right now is that only the hardcore PvPers are left still invading. It's better in DS2 where you get invaded by people of all skill levels. Also, the comparison of soul levels to matchmake is fundamentally broken, as you could spend tens of thousands of souls upgrading your equipment but still be at a low soul level. The matchmaking in DS2 is based on total souls collected.
  10. Sounds like the opposite of what I see when I'm casting. It looks like the bolt goes right through them but they roll and don't get hit.
  11. Is there any point to the Bellkeeper's tower that's above the Iron Keep? I had such a slog trying to get through there, and the reward seemed pretty lackluster. In other news, I dropped the Blue Sentinal covenant as I never got summoned, and went the road of the Sun. I like co-opping anyway, so why not I guess. I also got my second lord soul, but I get the feeling that I've been doing it massively out of order. The Giantbomb guys had tons of other places unlocked, but hadn't beaten the Old Iron King yet.
  12. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I didn't know anyone besides me ever played Academagia. The problem with that game is that because of the random event generation, there are some times where it's physically impossible to have obtained a high enough stat to pass a skill check, nad many many times where your chance ends up being around 10%. I eventually got frustrated that I could never see any of the minor stories to the end and quit. At this point I assume they're never going to make a second year, right?
  13. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I didn't have problems with the combat, but it definitely shows its age. I thought it was still worth it myself (I played it last year) but I wouldn't blame anyone for quitting.
  14. Hmm, looking through the wiki I guess you're right. The only ones I really wanted were the DLC ones.
  15. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I would say that now that you can buy an unlimited supply of titanite shards, you might as well level up your armor at least to the point that those shards are no longer good enough. It's not super important unless you're running a tank build, but you might be able to go to slightly lighter armor with the same protection with a few upgrades. Edit: Late game bosses are often doing types of damage other than physical, so having a few different setups that improve different kinds of defense can be handy as well.
  16. Ah, that's a good point. I've pretty much gotten invaded within 10 seconds every time I step in the door. I ended up putting down a summoning sign right inside the door so I could jump in and help others that are getting rocked by those guys. Edit: Time to look up boss soul weapons. So far, nothing awe-inspiring.
  17. Life

Transfer admission processes and quotas are a lot different than freshmen admission. I'd check with your target university (if you haven't already) to make sure that going somewhere else won't make it harder for you to get in. If you've already done that or are set on going to college this year regardless, I'd take the cheaper option. Your first year classes aren't likely to be that different between the two and it will be a lot more likely you'll be able to transfer credits from a basic state university. Make sure when you pick classes that your target university will accept those credits in a transfer. I got boned out of almost half a year's credits transferring from my community college to a university.
  18. Idle Food - Cooking!

I'm not saying I don't throw the steak on the hot part of the grill right at the end to get a good seer, but I do the majority of the cooking slow. These aren't exactly expensive steaks, so the extra time helps break down the collagen. Edit: For seasoning, I try a lot of different things. Right now I'm into a local place's blend called Fox Point Seasoning. It's a mix of shallots, chives, scallions, and a few other things. It's normally intended for poultry, but I find it adds a bit of a different taste without overwhelming the actual taste of the meat.
  19. I still have not been summoned a single time by the Blue Sentinels, and I have the ring on most of the time I guess there just aren't enough invasions to go around? I've only had 4 so far myself.
  20. Idle Food - Cooking!

Steak doesn't take 6 minutes for me. Low and slow is the way to a good steak. When I had a BBQ readily available I'd routinely leave it on the grill on the cooler area for at least an hour.
  21. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Oh, then maybe people are finishing their fresh playthroughs inspired by DS2's release and it's going back on the shelf?
  22. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

I liked the X-Wing books until they had to go and make the lead character (kinda, there were a lot of characters that traded around the lead really) into a Jedi all of a sudden. I never liked the Jedi stuff (except for the sword fighting, sword fighting rules in the past or in the future.) Since that's what everyone fixates on, I imagine that the next three Star Wars movies will lean on it pretty hard. Hopefully, not quite as hard as the prequels.
  23. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

That's a shame. I imagine you'll start getting summoned more again as you approach NG+ levels

I was indeed looking at the immersion circulator, either the one recommended by SweetHome or the Sansaire that tested.com has been raving about. I like the idea of being able to teach my wife to turn it on and leave it, and there's almost steak ready for dinner when I get home. Same goes with getting a good slow cooker. I have a nice meat thermometer (also recommended by SweetHome) but I've never found myself needing a scale before. What do you generally use it for? I had a stick blender, but like you I ended up only ever using it for tzatziki sause anyway so I don't think I'll buy another. Thanks for the advice on the toaster oven. I'm always the sucker that pays for the $100 gadget when a $30 one would do.
