  1. The Black Glove kickstarter

I dunno, if they shop around the former Irrational stuff they might get a good swell of backers.
  2. iOS Gaming

Yes you always start in london with the same master. The seed changes some paths that are available as well as a few events.
  3. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Dodge over people heads a lot. Whenever I see a prompt I don't understand or don't have time to respond to, i just dodge in a different direction and go over another ork's head. This will get you out of the way of the spear and shield guys, arrow attacks, caragors, pretty much anything. Once you get the skill that stuns orks when you flip over them, it's especially good.
  4. The threat of Big Dog

Yes, I really really want one. Thankfully, part of me is still fiscally responsible enough to realize the first run of these are probably going to be crap, and the third run will probably take over the world, so I just have to wait for the second revision.
  5. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

I have a personal like for Dracula: Dead and Loving it, but I'll consider that.
  6. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

Gay marriages begin go through in five states thanks to the Supreme Court's refusal to listen to the case, meaning the circuit appeals court earlier rulings striking down the marriage bans stand. http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/06/politics/scotus-same-sex-marriage/index.html
  7. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Actually, you can turn off the button prompts in the options, but the little I toyed with it I didn't feel like the character models in this gave as many tells to counter as Batman did. No, I never unlocked the Death Threat ability, I'll keep that in mind next time I play. I guess what I really want out of a harder mode is make it more difficult to run away, keep the regular orcs the same difficulty, but have even more of them. Make the captains more challenging across the board (more damage, more armor, more intellegent.) Turning off button prompts will certainly make the game harder, but not in the way I'm look for.
  8. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

Ha! I've got it! Instead of my usual big blast Halloween party (which we no longer have room for) I'll schedule a couple of movie viewing parties. First weekend, the original Frankenstein followed by Young Frankenstein. Second weekend, the original Dracula, followed by Dracula:Dead and Loving it.
  9. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I barely did any of the side missions and I still feel overpowered. I think it's mainly due to familiarity with the Batman combat system along with the fairly forgiving button timings.
  10. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I wish it had a difficulty setting. I was jazzed to jump back in and play at a higher difficulty.
  11. Lethal League

I'm definitely going to get this for my next four player game party.
  12. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I just beat it today, I barely did any of the weapon or Outcast challenges, but still came into the second map feeling overpowered. I died a grand total of once during the back half of the game. My only real problem was killing guys too fast so I didn't get the chance to mind control them. I'm sad that I didn't have any awesome nemesis tales to tell or anything. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a difficulty level at all, so I guess to make the game harder when I go back to get all the collectibles I'll just mash on the skip time button a bunch?
  13. General Video Game Deals Thread

I dunno, part of it I'm sure is going to the strategy games thread about Paradox games and kind of getting jaded with the whole thing. After they put our Rajas of India in a fairly broken state and their general move toward emphasising the multiplayer (which is fun, don't get me wrong, but fairly impractical most of the time) I don't really like the way the game is going. I'd say if you could play it as it was two years ago (specifically when Old Gods came out) I'd recommend it hands down, but even if you don't buy the expansion, they still do these major balance patches that are pretty much stuffed down your throat. It was my favorite game of 2012, but I don't play it much anymore. I guess I'm just feeling pessimistic today. Edit: Back on topic, I mentioned this in the Middle-Earth thread but, just in case it was missed there, GreenManGaming's current code for October is good for another day. OCTOBE-R25OFF-GMGXXX gets you 25% a few recent games such as Middle-Earth:Shadow of Mordor and I think a pre-order for Alien:Isolation as well.
  14. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I called back on my Arkham Asylum training and just use dodge button to flip over people's heads constantly when I get swarmed. Also, try to lure captains outside of the stronghold areas so they don't get as many reinforcements. Finally, if all else fails don't be afraid to run a little ways away and hide on top of a building or behind a wall. It's even easier to lose pursuit than Batman was. Though with level 20 captains, some of that might be a little harder. Most of my captains topped out around 10-12.
  15. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Once you go to the second map, can you come back to the first? Because I've done almost none of the weapon challenges.
  16. Out of the 17 various items I've backed, I only recieved 4 of them so far. Thankfully, most of the others seem to be pretty on track. The only one I really worry about is Shadowrun Online, which I backed at a fairly high level and, while updates haven't stopped, it seems like it's kinda dying on the vine much like Spacebase DF-9. Edit: I doubt I will ever recieve Star Command for PC either, but that was only $10 and I made my piece with that a long time ago.
  17. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

It's Steam. Feel free to add me, D3war.
  18. Dealing with Someone Else's Alcholism

My first job after college was pretty miserable, and I ended up hitting the alcohol pretty hard. So bad, in fact, that I think I damaged my stomach lining or caused a permanent ulcer or something because I've never been quite the same. Two things eventually tipped the balance. First, I was physically having problems keeping food down due to the issues listed above and second, my gf (now wife) stated very succinctly without a whole lot of pressure that she was worried about me. I was pretty angry and immature about it at the time, but I cooled off after a few days, then quit my job a couple months later to find something that wasn't quite so destructive. I still drink, but it's rare that I have more than one or two and not even that often anymore. So I guess it worked in my case.
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't think it's that hard. I lived in a similar bubble for quite a while. Ditto with racial issues.
  20. General Video Game Deals Thread

I'm not sure if I can recommend CK2 anymore.
  21. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

TB, having grown up in the UK, often goes off on side rants about how lacking the consumer protections are here in the United States. He has some good points I think, though he does seem to go overboard with them (he goes overboard with everything really, that's his internet personality) and they don't really have a place in this conversation.
  22. Life

    Yay!
  23. Feminism

The romantic vision that we have all been sold is that you're kissing, then hands start wandering, then clothes start coming off all without many (or sometimes any) words spoken. If you watch sex scenes in movies, few have explicit consent. Not saying it's right, just that we are a generation of people taught incorrectly by popular media. For the life of me, I can't remember if I had explicit consent when I first had sex with my (then future) wife. It was especially risky because we're old fashioned and had originally intended to save it for marriage. Many misunderstandings could have occured there, it just happened to work out in our case I guess.
  24. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I have done 10 of the story missions, and I think I'm about to transition to the second map. I don't have Brand yet, which a lot of people have said is where the game really opens up. Somehow I got it into my head that mission 6 is when you get the last nemesis features.
  25. When Danielle mentioned it, my first thought was "That can't be that worst game of 2013 thing right? She seems to be pretty happy with it."
