Looks cool! Exploring the urban jungle instead of the jungle... jungle.
  2. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

True, I had forgotten about the walking boat I guess the whole man-shoot (Monster-shoot in this case) sort of overshadows that slightly for me though, at least when compared to something like Stacked. That said I've not dived far enough into the DF games to have anything but a quite shallow impression of most of them. Massive Chalice should be able to draw me into it for quite some time though!
  3. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

True, this feels like one of the more conventional games that I've seen DF do, with maybe the exception of Trenched/Iron Brigade. It's going to be interesting to see how the Double Fine-spirit influences it.

Best wishes to you and your family Merus. Good news that the perpetrators turned themselves in. Me and a friend got close to being beat up once too... Luckily for us one of the group who wanted to jump us was still sober enough to talk his friends out of it. Was such a weird feeling to see a guy who just a few days earlier wanted to beat you up walk past you in the school corridors.
  5. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

My copy of the new Queens of the Stone Age album "...Like Clockwork" arrived today. It's different from their earlier albums, not as much hard, driving guitars and a much more somber overall feel to it. Where most of their earlier albums had a very hedonistic slant to them, this goes into more introspective territory at times. I guess that quite a few fans will dislike this change, but after listening through the new songs a few times I'm quite pleased that we've not just gotten another "Songs for the deaf" or "Lullabies to paralyze". Sometimes, change really is for the better. If anyone is interested, the band has released an animated "short film" set to clips of songs from the album, as well as a live show on Youtube. Links below (If anyone could tell me how to do proper embeds I would be very thankful!)

I was just going to ask that...
  7. Weird Medical Shit

When I was I kid I always liked to run with my hands in my pockets. My mother was not a fan, in fact I think she thought it was a very stupid thing to do. Turns out she was right. One summer day we were on the Swedish island called Marstrand. As we were leaving I ran over the cobblestone streets, my hands securely stuffed down the pockets of my shorts. Suddenly the sole of my sandal caught a cobblestone edge and I fell face first into the street. I find myself looking out through the window of our car as we are driving into a parking lot in front of a squat grey building. Then I'm lying on my back with some people standing over me. One of them, the doctor, takes what looks like a scalpel to my forehead. He starts to scratch with it and I hear the sound of metal on rock. I still have a slight indentation in my forehead from the small rock that embedded itself there, serving as a constant reminder that mother is always right. (Mother's day in Sweden tomorrow)

Sweden = World Champions! This was a pretty decent Sunday!
  9. Weird Medical Shit

Ooh ooh I've got this too!

Taking a pause in my Adventure time binge to catch my national team (Sweden) playing in the Hockey World Cup finals! Any other hockey fans here?
  11. Life

All these Adventure time avatars have made me pick the series up again. I would like to thank all of you.
  12. Post your face!

Oh, how I wish that I could grow a proper beard. It's like my facial hair hasn't realized I went through puberty years ago...

Spiders are wonderful creatures who only want to love you. From inside of you.

Some Swedish music for you international types. Kent (Moody Rock/Pop) Theo Berndt (Happy Rock/Pop) Afasi & Filthy (Swedish Hip Hop)
  15. Well, unfortunately no. It was some time ago and my memories from that time are fuzzy at best. The one thing I do know is that I played a lot of NHL, and my parents keep telling me how I eventually started doing running commentary on my own. I think the repetitive nature of sports commentary (or sports in general) and how reactionary it is to players actions within the game helped me figure out what actions would produce what response from the commentators. That in turn allowed me to start mimicking it and eventually figure out the meaning of the individual words. Thinking about it now in retrospect like this it sounds a bit like how a child learns their first language. Never thought about it that way before. That said, we have a very good environment for learning English here in Sweden as we are constantly exposed to it from a very young age. Movies and TV-shows are subtitled rather than dubbed, a vast majority of music played on radio/TV is in English (Even when performed by Swedish artists) and video games are, of course, predominantly in English as well. This probably played a pretty big part in how I learned the language as well.

    Yay for Luke!
  17. Well, I pretty much learned English by playing video games and watching TV-series when I was around 7 years old, so it is definitely possible. Never tried any games specifically designed to teach language though.
  18. Idle Thumbs Shirts

Any news regarding Thumbs merchandise? Would love a shirt!
  19. Episode 213: On Campaign

While it obviously has some glaring issues I did really enjoy the DoW II campaign. I guess a lot of it comes down to being a big wh40k fan, but I saw it as a simpler and more visceral version of World in conflict.
  20. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hello! Been listening to Idle Thumbs for a while now and realized I needed to get on the forum so I could inform the guys of their greatness. I just really enjoy listening to you guys discussing games as it often provides both laughs and new perspectives on game design which I hope to be able to put to use in the future. Just finished playing The Walking Dead by the way, that was really good you guys. Job well done!
