  1. Hatred: The Most Despicable Game of All Time?

Saw this at work and had to close the video halfway through... Just tremendously unsettling. Pure gaming pleasure? I don't know about the creators, or indeed other people, but I don't really find any pleasure in calmly executing screaming and pleading bystanders, especially when the presentation is so apparently po-faced. At least Postal was trying to be funny. Besides, doesn't their goal of wanting to go against the trend of games becoming more art-like conflict with their statement that the player will have to ponder why someone would perform these kind of acts?

The gaming business? That seems kind of broad?
  3. Gah! I had laundry this Monday1 So next time is the 27th then?
  4. Vangers: One for the Road

Holy shit, this game. I only ever managed to get to the second world where I died almost instantly. It was very odd and quite fun though I recall, at least once you've managed to get by its eccentricities.

Yeah, there are no Game Dev specific unions here in Sweden either. However, some of the other unions are broad enough that we can join those instead. Upside to that is that the unions are quite a bit larger than they would be otherwise and as such have a bit more power behind them.

    Unions, man! Unions!
  7. Plug your shit

Not my shit, but a friend is streaming Shadow of Mordor with a Power Metal soundtrack, inspired by Chris's comments this week: http://www.twitch.tv/dokujaka

Can I also just add my voice to the choir praising Daft Souls? I really like Matt Lees, Quinns is just wonderful and the other guests I don't know from before are very wellspoken and oftentimes funny as well! I like that it also has its own Far Cry 2 in Dragons Dogma
  9. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Well, that's fortunate as I just ordered one! Does it have all the nice rumble features or is that limited to Forza so far?
  10. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Do you guys know if the XB One controller works with this on PC? They throw a big party and turn Mordor into a giant super happy funtime land?

So pocket casts comes recommended? The Podcaster app has been freezing a lot for me lately and I'm really considering switching
  12. New people: Read this, say hi.

Greetings new folks! I hope you find the forums and the members as welcoming and friendly as I've found them. If you are interested in participating in some Multiplayer shenanigans with fellow Readers I recommend the MP Networking sub-forum. Lately we've been running Sessions every-other Monday where we play a randomly selected multiplayer game: http://goo.gl/17nciu This week the selected game is the premier Robot Space Samurai-simulator: Plain Sight The previous session was Grin's Bionic Commando which turned out to be one of the better Multiplayer games I've played.
  13. Super Personal Games?

While I can certainly see your point, Shammack, I also believe that the interactive nature of games make them very powerful when you actually manage to pull it off as it essentially puts the player in your shoes. Rather than passively absorbing your thoughts/experience through reading/video they actually can interact and poke at it. My go to example of this, which I've brought up several times on this forum, is Depression Quest. While the players agency is quite limited (in fact there's even a mechanic where it might even take more of your agency away) it was an extremely effective experience for me. Probably the most emotionally affective experience I've ever had with any medium. Granted, my personal experience with the subject matter certainly contributed to that but the fact that it can work at least remains. The key I guess is not to just transfer personal history into your games in a 1:1 fashion, but add stuff to the edges, the what-ifs and so on.
  14. Yeah, I totally lost at least 15 minutes to it before I could muster the willpower to shut the tab.

From an outsiders point of view this appears to be a very common way of thought in America (and other parts of the world I'm sure). You know, the whole American Dream. It's always rubbed me the wrong way because, while it is a nice thought that everyone has the same chance, it's just blatantly not true. I can see how people want to believe in it, and I can see how maybe Mr. Ryckert has caught enough breaks to actually think he's an example of it... But yeah, it's a very naive mindset that also becomes insulting to people who, if they have not succeded, "just didn't work hard enough"
  16. Steam Curation!

Doesn't it do both? Saw that DoTA had a checkmark saying something along the lines of "Recommended because of: POPULAR". That would suggest other things could be used as criteria as well
  17. Amateur Game Making Night

Looks like how one of those management sims like Evil Genius or Spacebase would look in a first person perspective. You just need to give the player a tablet they can draw rooms and assign workers with and you're golden. It would of course appear in game as the map in Far Cry 2.
  18. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

That is indeed catchy tune! I quite enjoy Trouble as well, but genuinely prefer the one with the goat screams. For some odd reason I find them better suited to the song than her vocals in that part :S
  19. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

I can't see "Metal Gear" without mentally auto-completing it with Scanlon anymore. Dammit Giant Bomb! ... That is all.

Some big Thumbs up right here! (Had to reduce number of Thumbs. Apparently there's a cap on emoticon usage?!)
  21. Ah, so we did catch some footage! Great!
  22. Baby Animal Gif Emergency Rations

I saw one last weekend at a shelter/zoo. Really cute little buggers. I just can't quite get over how wonderful that red colour is.
  23. Non-video games

Yeeaaah, Hero Quest! Used to play it all the time as a kid! In the end we played it every day for about a week until we were all fed up by it.
