Whenever I see the acronym "GFW" I picture some weirdly precocious middle-school bully being all "more like GAYvid Foster Wallace".

So I haven't been playing this game but I've been watching and JESUS is there a lot of chatter. It feels like every mission has 10 minutes of meaningless yapping as you drive somewhere. It's shocking how bad the dialogue can be written. I haven't played the series since San Andreas, but it seems like it's only gotten worse.

Blade Runner is not an action or horror movie. I kinda has a thriller structure, kinda, but the momentum of that movie is really weird and not at all your typical "sci-fi thriller".

I always suspected there was some loophole with the charity aspect which meant that publishers could write off "sales" of their games through Humble Bundle as donations, since they aren't forcing the consumer to give them any specifically sized cut of the sale.

There are so many different kinds of feminism, there are probably a billion manifestos. I understand that you're ostensibly challenging us so we can correct and educate you, stalkinghead, but you really should, at this point, just take it upon yourself to read more about it. Even starting at the wikipedia entry would clearly be helpful.

Which is why I said it's still horrible and valid and worth expressing. But context is important, and humbling yourself to the worse plight of others is not a bad thing to do. It's when people abandon context that stuff like Men's Right's Activism happens. It's not that all things MRA's bring up are false or not valid problems, but one has to look at things in the right context so one doesn't end up just saying "Well, men have it bad too!" and miss the point of WHY that is the case.

Rape culture affects everyone, but I guarantee that it is worse being a woman at night with a man following behind you than to be that man. I'm a white cis-male who's felt oppressed by the patriarchy his entire life, which is horrible and valid and worth expressing, but I'm still a white cis-male so perspective is important. Not to imply anyone in this thread lacks that perspective. Part of why you feel horrible is because you're an empathetic human. I just find it helps to always check that privilege and realize that whenever I'm pissed that I can't be nice to a woman without feeling in some way like a creep, it must be way worse for that woman who's had to deal with creeps her whole life.

Superhot is really fun. The only thing that would make it perfect is if it could record your level playthrough and play it back at full speed after you're done, so you can see what you looked like to everyone else who doesn't have bullet-time.

Been watching a lot of nudie cuties in prep for an episode of my podcast, so I can say definitively: don't watch nudie cuties. "But Patrick. I like the cute. I like the nude. This sounds right up my alley!" Find cute nude folks elsewhere, my friend. Nudie cuties are maybe the dullest period of sexploitation films (up there with the ever popular "documentaries" about nudist camps), and are basically a tedious series of comic strips come to life where some nebbish man keeps encountering cleavage or side-boob in wacky situations and runs from it like it's a ghost or something. Films like Lucky Pierre, The Immoral Mr. Teas or Eve and the Handyman couldn't be more tedious, feature more annoying soundtracks, or simply make less sense. AND you have to wait forever to see any nude ladies. Not as if nudie cuties would be on anyone's radar, being a short-lived period of exploitation film from the early 60's, but if you're like me and are intrigued by exploitation film history, you'll probably end up hearing about them and be tempted by their concept, scarcity, and promise of seeing sweet 1960's ladies in the buff. Just ignore it.

Day of the Tentacle is the one I played the most as a kid. I think it's probably peak sociopathic protagonist for LucasArts adventure games.

My podcast will occasionally do commentaries. I did a Friday the 13th commentary with my 57 year old mother (who had not seen a horror movie since the late 70's) for Mother's Day, where I explained the rules and tropes of slasher movies to her.
