  1. The Smash Bros. Thread + A Primer

This is a nice thread, thanks Coods . I watched this video yesterday about competitive Smash as a spectator sport and would recommend it:
  2. Badfinger, you can redownload Windows 7 from Microsoft as long as you have your product key. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
  3. Amateur Game Making Night

    This is really great, Joe
  4. I Had A Random Thought...

    Ah of course!
  5. I Had A Random Thought...

Surely you'd still only press the Caps lock key twice for the whole rant, right?
  6. I Had A Random Thought...

Back in secondary school (translation: high school), a small group of people who knew what the Insert key did started a dumb prank whereby they'd go over to peoples' unattended desks and press the insert key in MS Word, then watch in amusement as the victim tried to figure out what was going on. It lasted for a while before it was figured out, then it moved on to the lower year group and started all over again.
  7. TRACKMANIA

Weird, I had totally forgotten all of the older Trackmanias including Sunrise, despite having spent loads of time on them in my youth! Just hearing the name unlocked a bunch of memories. Weird.
  8. I wasn't aware that this came out today! Does anybody have this on PS Vita? If so, how is it? I'm pondering whether to get it for Vita or stick to the PC version.
  9. [DevLog] Tiny Tires

Yeah! Tiny Tires is looking great!
  10. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

The chests thing isn't a spoiler, but I think the rad canister thing would qualify as one. Chicken's new special looks really fun.
  11. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

Skipping weapon chests increases the chance of a big weapon chest appearing on the next level. From the wiki:
  12. Natellite, please. These memes will be bespoke and artisinal.
  13. XCOM 2

Thanks for the summary. I saw that video linked elsewhere but I haven't been able to watch yet as I'm at work.
  14. Tacoma from Fullbright

  15. Idle Thumbs 214: Ship It, Droopy

Here is the link to the archive.is snapshot. It was captured before all of the author's comments were removed.
  16. Amateur Game Making Night

I've tried beam particles before, but I also need the trail to detect collision. I'm sure there's a smarter way to do it than placing a trail of invisible boxes behind the player, but I haven't figured it out yet. Ah, I totally see the four wheels now; I don't know how I missed that . I'm incredibly envious of your ability to put this together in 2 days. You must have a pretty good work ethic! Do post up a build whenever there's one ready.
  17. Amateur Game Making Night

Aaaa this looks great. How long you been working on it? Also, I've never gone too far into vehicles in UE4; how did you make yours? Is it a wheeled vehicle class, or did you build a custom thing? Also (again): are those trail lines actual trails, or just debug lines? I've wanted to get into making some sort of Tron lightcycles thing but I never thought of a good way to handle that part.
  18. Grand ThVmb Auto PC

    Also interested in doing heists!
  19. Feedback for my new app

It only briefly grazed on the topic, but I had to do lots of reading around the subject so I'm familiar with Bartle. My dis was based around teamwork in online games, and investigating various design elements that can help promote cooperation. If I can find it, I'll share it; but it's just struck me that it's been years since I last saw it.
  20. Post Your Game for Playtesting and Feedback!

    That's great news! Congrats dude!
  21. Feedback for my new app

Haven't heard that name in a while. You just gave me a flashback of doing my uni dissertation.
  22. Post Your Game for Playtesting and Feedback!

That sounds like an interesting job interview, Grayson!
  23. Game Dev Talks/Lectures

As an addition to the earlier article on camera systems, here's a quick breakdown of the camera system in 4 player local multiplayer game Push Me Pull You. It's pretty useful; it didn't occur to me that ring buffers could be used to smooth out camera movement. (I also may have had to look up what a ring buffer is) http://pmpygame.com/post/118198964272/our-camera
  24. No Thumbs, Especially Chris! Just a dev log, don't worry.

Oh goodness. That picture is excellent. How long have you been working on this so far?
  25. Return of the Steam Box!

Hm. I thought I'd heard or read somewhere that it uses AA batteries. Edit: It says it on the store page.
