  1. I think Miles is actually biracial, but neat.

Also, I didn't realizethat the new Captain America used to be Falcon. That explains why they've been pushing Falcon so hard in other media lately. I guess he'll probably replace Cap in one of the movies too.

  2. Recipe idea: make a grilled cheese sandwich, but replace butter with mayonnaise.

(I've done this. It's actually delicious, but not enough to compensate for the deep shame you'll feel)

  3. The apartment people want a co-signer, or some other proof that I can pay up. I'm trying to get a phone interview with the Halifax job. Maybe they'll accept if I can show that I'll have more income.

  4. Trivia time: Nic Cage's real name is Nicholas Coppola, nephew of Francis Ford Coppola, so his cousin actor would be either actress Sofia Coppola or one of any number of semi-obscure musicians.

Nic Cage actually named himself after Marvel Comics' Luke Cage, and then named his son Kal-El because I guess he didn't want his stupid comic book reference to go full circle and just wanted to make a new stupid comic book reference instead.

  5. I finished applying for the apartment. I don't think I'm going to get it, specifically because I don't have much of an income since I live on handouts and commissions.

    I don't think I'm gonna make it.

  6. So what's the status of manga on ereaders at this point? I've wanted a Kindle for ages, and now that I'm moving I'm again reminded of just how many fucking books I own. On top of that, DMP is starting to make good on their promise to release the entire library of Osamu Tezuka digitally (Brave Dan, Crime & Punishment, Age of Adventure, and Mr. Cactus have all been recently released as digital-only goods), so I think it might finally be time for me to take the plunge, provided the resolution on these things is finally good enough to be trusted with crisp linework.

  7. I think it's still relevant, in a way. The kind of mentality that demands to see Obama's birth certificate is pretty similar to the same mentality that GG built itself on: even though it's what conspiracy nuts say they want, if Obama made his birth certificate public, it wouldn't change any of their minds. You could see that exact mentality in action when Zoe shared all the Burgers and Fries screencaps and GGers dismissed them as fake/irrelevant.

Zoe did some actual fucking ethical journalism and GG failed to recognize it even when they were smacked in the face with it.

(seriously, the Obama thing is dumb as hell. You need a background check to work at fucking Wal-Mart, of course they're going to make sure the President is a US citizen)

  8. I called about the apartment and they're gonna send me an application.

I hope I get in, but at the same time, I'm incredibly nervous about money stuff for this entire thing.

  9. I've been thinking all along that AR is going to be much more interesting than VR. I severely doubt that this video is an accurate representation of the current Magic Leap technology, but even as an aspirational target it's got me salivating.

I'm really excited about AR, but I also feel that this is gonna be the kind of thing that makes people realize that FPS characters are constantly holding their hands way up into their forward field of view and just how silly that is.

  10. Almost got a new apartment nailed down, I think. I'm scared about moving to Halifax (and I still don't feel financially stable enough to go through with it), but I wanna do this.

Follow-up: so today's the day that I call about the apartment, but looking at my finances I'm not so sure about this. I don't think I can even afford the deposit right now.

  11.

Astro Boy is among my favourite things in the whole world and I really, really hope that this time they finally do justice to the potential and depth that the characters have.

  12. I love the feel-good turnaround story of "guy makes unintentionally terrifying children's game and turns it into intentional horror game," and obviously a lot of people get a lot out of these games, but man... they're just super boring and dull to me, and as a horror series they're incredibly trite. It's literally a tedious office job with jump scares in it.

  13. I used to live in a place with some old couple who would listen to the same fucking marching band music at the crack of dawn every single day.

Also, there used to be a couple across the hall here who had some pretty bad relationship issues; I got to hear them yell and slam doors all the time.

  14. I hate driving and deliberately avoided it for as long as I could. I got my license at 16, barely used it, and let it expire a few years back. It makes it a hassle to move things and I have to plan out my routes if I have an appointment somewhere, but otherwise I'm happy with things this way. I'm not paying for constant upkeep on a car and I'm much less likely to accidentally get killed/kill someone.
