The Oracle of Seasons run is being done by Bananas, one of the few female speedrunners in the event. Mods are having to delete every other comment in chat, and the ones that make it through aren't much better. Eugh.

I think I'm gonna be picking this up for Wii U next week. My friend is playing it and tells me it's great. Also, he tells me there's an area called the Exploditorium.

It's not the lack of limbs for me, it's his ugly face and stupid hair.

Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze

I didn't know Kero Blaster was out, but it reminds me that Ikachan would be my serious recommendation. I watched the SGDQ speedrun of it yesterday and it reminded me of just how cute and fun that game is. Plus it's like three bucks or something on the eshop. -
Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze

I wonder if the hypothetical present-day kid who wants the Star Citizen spaceship actually thinks it's more expensive because, to him, a video game is something that costs 99 cents on his phone of five bucks on Steam. -
Anyone not watching this is really missing out. Some highlights so far: one guy playing two-player Lost Vikings using two controllers velcroed back-to-back Octodad racing nonstop egg puns for the entire duration of the Billy Hatcher stream dude using his donation comment to propose to his girlfriend the chance to name the Paper Mario 2 Yoshi after Jeff Gerstmann a guy playing through a world of Super Meat Boy blindfolded

Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze

Danielle is sadly two decades too late to be living in the golden age of animal platformers. -
It turned out that the guy organizing it had zero experience in publishing and didn't ask for help from anyone who did. He claims that he's still trying to get the books finished and out to people, but he's still yet to even post photos of the proofs or give any other indication that the books actually exist.

I am so super excited that Danielle is an official Thumb now. -
Muramasa is a damn good video game, so make sure y'all pick that up.

I remember that!

You're only two movies away from realizing why nobody likes going to the movies.

I hear Final Fantasy XIII will be on 12 DVDs on Suckbox.

So E3 time is almost here, and that means it's time to start making insane predictions with no point. Maybe it's because I haven't been paying as much attention to video game news or maybe it's just because everyone already blew their proverbial load last year, but I can't actually think of enough stuff to do my traditional E3 bingo card. Oh well. Here's some scattershot stuff: the Vita finally gets a proper price drop in the west, or Sony finally confirms plans to bring the Vita TV over here. Now that's it's optional, the XBox One Kinect is quietly swept under the rug and we see nothing on display at Microsoft that includes the Kinect in any meaningful way. free space: something malfunctions horribly during a live demonstration, Ubisoft has an irritating and embarassing presenter, EA gets either a musician or an athlete to appear onstage and demo a game that they clearly have no interest in, Nintendo attempts to force something to become an internet meme Nintendo Figurine Platform will debut with the release of the new Pokémon remakes, with the 3DS accessory serving as a pack-in with the physical releases of the games. Upcoming compatible titles will be teased. some other big Wii U thing revealed since Mario Kart will be out by then and Nintendo can't coast on Smash hype for much longer. New Metroid? Please? surprise reveal of a new entry in a series everyone thought was dead. Bonus points if it's a series nobody actually cares about. Majora's Mask 3D

The answer is that Pokémon shipping is hilarious and dumb. I actually liked that bit...

I'll be picking up Mario Kart at the beginning of next month and replacing my Pikmin 3 physical copy, so I'll have a bunch of credit thanks to the Deluxe Digital Promotion. Should I get Shovel Knight, or something else?

I played it on a 486 without so much as a sound card, so I wouldn't know. Also that game came out before I was born, so I have no idea how I managed to get a hold of the game and such old hardware.

Back in my day, we playedThe Secret of Monkey Island on eight 5¼-inch floppy discs and we liked it that way!

That second tweet is amazing. "Way to body shame these [entirely fictional] women, you sexists!"

Official Nintendo Magazine UK made a preview writeup criticizing Senran Kagura Burst 2 for its fanservice. XSeed's sales production coordinator responds in the most tasteful way possible.

I think it's important that Nintendo acknowledged through the weird Elijah Wood/Abraham Lincoln/Ice T thing that nobody actually has their friend's Miis on their system, everyone just makes celebrities and pop culture characters. what I'm getting at is Goku confirmed for Smash

These guys are fantastic and I try to watch a sizeable portion of their work every year. Can't wait to see them wreck Super Monkey Ball 2.

I don't normally like Yoshi, but the combination of adorable visuals and lack of awful, crying baby Mario is selling me on it.
-
They fit with the aesthetic less than the barely-animated monochrome 2D sprite? Smash Bros' whole thing is that it's supposed to be a sort of celebration of games' evolution and heritage. Miis definitely have a place in that. I don't like 'em in Mario Kart though.
