There was one incident where another kid got me to hold onto his cards because I wasn't into Pokémon at the time and thus wouldn't have my desk searched and get them confiscated like he would. He gave me a Machoke card in exchange for the favour. So yeah, pretty much exactly like drugs.

All of this makes me wonder how people would have reacted to the guy who went around my city killing cops a few months back if it had been after this instead of before it.

Regarding Nick's story about the baad kid who played PC games: some of my first exposure to games when I was growing up was in the time when Pokémon hit the west. It was surrounded by controversy from media watchdog groups and the Pokémon games and cards were banned in my school for being too distracting, so trades and battles went on under the table. What I'm getting at is that I happened to learn about games at the exact moment that video games were analogous to drugs.

It's worth noting that Kojima announced a cardboard box with a bikini babe on it literal minutes before P.T. was unveiled.

Man, Goodra has such good stats and such a wide movepool that I have no idea what to oh wait it looks like it literally only learns the same status moves that every other Pokémon does. Special Attacker it is.

I've almost got this insurance settlement business sorted out. Right now the problem is that my doctor (who needs to sign the form) is on vacation until the day that the offer expires, so I expect I'll be calling my insurance company all week trying to sort something out. Until I do, I'm pretty much broke still. Ugh. It's allllmost over.

Great stat spread (31/24/31/31/31/31) and the right nature (Sassy) plus Iron Tail as an Egg Move, but sadly has the wrong ability. At least it was a short hunt (only 124 eggs!).

Currently breeding for a shiny Goomy. Goomy eggs are tied with a handful of other Pokémon for the distinction of taking the longest to hatch.

I seriously can't wait until potentially racist, potentially violent cops are replaced with cold, unfeeling bigdogs.

Regarding movies that are hard to sound terrible on paper (The Dark Knight) and movies with great background acting (Clue), have any of the Thumbs ever seen Summer Wars? It's one of my favourite movies ever. It sounds terrible on paper (it's an anime where a mathlete has to both pretend to be his crush's fiance while staying with her massive extended family and also has to save the world from a sentient computer virus that framed him for cybercrimes he didn't commit) partially because there's so many fantastic tiny character details. I once watched it and only paid attention to the way the characters drank.
