  1. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Oh boy, now the internet has a place even worse than 4chan.
  2. I know myself well enough to know that I'll probably end up buying both like an idiot, but the 3DS seems like a much worse fit for Smash Bros. than the Wii U.
  3. Feminism

Sometimes I feel bad for using Adblock, but not that often and not that bad.
  4. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOD (...what about the Twinkie?)
  5. Photos of things

So I was just out walking and I really hope that this car belongs to an actual Microsoft employee, because the alternative is pretty disappointing. (sorry for the image quality; I only had my 3DS on me)
  6. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

I watched Cabin in the Woods a few weeks ago. It was pretty alright, even with its Whedon roots showing through every now and then.
  7. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

Sexy Olly Moss Oh shit, I forgot The Thing and Alien. Those are two of my favourite movies though, so I kinda watch them year-round. Also, do you mean House or House? Because I already put the latter up there as Hausu (to avoid confusion). ☐ Sean of the Dead
  8. Feminism

I feel like Maleficent probably owes that to the source material. There are only six real cast members in the original Walt Disney adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, five of which are women. Aurora and Philip are basically just agents of the good fairies and Maleficent.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

I REMEMBER THAT! Those commentaries are the best.
  10. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

Can we embed Vimeo videos? http://vimeo.com/78253247 YESSSSSS check out Garfield clearly yelling "ah, fuck it" at the twenty minute mark
  11. Jeff Goldblum

Who has the audacity to come up to Jeff Goldblum and have the first thing to come out of their mouth be "stop playing that piano" instead of "I loved you in The Fly"?
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm watching Ghost Rider. The best thing about this movie is that Nicolas Cage is basically playing himself: a distant weirdass rockstar figure who makes incredibly poor decisions. You ever see some of the stuff that Nicolas Cage has bought over the years? Crazy shit like a dinosaur skull or a haunted house. The only difference is that here he's a skeleton who is also on fire.
  13. Another World Windows

I always admire this forum's willingness to find and post in eight-year-old abandoned threads rather than make new ones.
  14. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

My old prediction used to be that the show wouldn't be cancelled until one of the main six voice actors died, but I'm sure that by now there's a file in some FOX executive's office with the names and contact info for the best possible replacement VAs for every character, or maybe they'll just start pulling from the massive library of voice samples they must have and plug them into a Vocaloid or something. The point is, my new prediction is that the show will, as Troy McClure himself said, "continue until it becomes unprofitable" (but still won't be cancelled until after a significant VA dies).
  15. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

So it's pretty reasonable to assume who dies in the premiere based on the episode title and this promo art: I really hope it's just a red herring, because
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

I don't know whether to post this in Ferguson or the horrible all-consuming nerd culture #Gamergate thread: 22-year old black man with a 3-foot replica sword fatally shot by police officer. Officer claims the victim was "lunging at him" wielding the sword when he fired, despite the fact that all four bullet wounds are in his back plus multiple witnesses who all say he was running from the officer in question. I think my friend put it best:
  17. Miiverse is heavily moderated and probably has crazy word filters*, but there's no post approval to my knowledge. *Nintendo loves those word filters. It wasn't until Gen VI that you could trade certain Pokémon online -like Froslass and Cofagrigus- without nicknaming them.
  18. A bug was discovered today in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team that lets users make Miiverse posts with any image saved to the 3DS and not just the current screenshot. Naturally, Miiverse is now full of porn. Whoops! You may remember that Nintendo shut down Swapnote entirely when someone posted a dick, so who knows what this will mean.
  19. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

YEEEAAAAAAH also, I forgot Garfield's Halloween Adventure aka Garfield in Disguise. Garfield the comic may be completely creatively bankrupt, but that fucking pirate song.
  20. I wonder if this means there will still be a PS4 version. also Lego sets
  21. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

what the fuck has adam baldwin even done since firefly
  22. Look forward to the Ubisoft Uya this fall!
  23. So about twelve years ago, Lego produced a very short-lived robotics line called "Spybotics" where you could build and program little remote-controlled robots and send them on missions. The website for the Spybotics line included a flash game that was, inexplicably, both virtually unrelated to the toyline and incredibly good. It was called... (click the picture to play) The premise is that you're a hacker committing corporate espionage missions, because reasons. What makes it cool is that all of the hacking you'll be doing takes the form of a turn-based strategy game with grid-based movement, where movement is directly tied to the strength of your units. One square moved will increase your unit's size by that one square, up to a maximum that varies from unit to unit. When your unit is damaged, a square is removed from the trailing end of its body. This leads to some unique tactical exercises like deliberately making a unit as large as possible to use it to shield ranged units, or attacking a large unit from a part of its body that the attack-capable portion is too far away to reach. It's fascinating and I'm surprised nobody ever ripped the mechanics off to make a game not held back by being a web-based toyline tie-in.
