I sort of hoped that would come up, because WB's execs have been notorious for being extremely reluctant to produce a Wonder Woman movie for increasingly bullshit reasons, despite the fact that they kind of need to if they ever want to do their big Justice League film franchise, which is why WW's first-ever theatrical appearance will be in the fucking Batman vs Superman movie. Lovecraft almost feels more toothless to me personally because he was so cartoonishly, impossibly racist. I know that that's absolutely a failing on my part, but it's so hard to take his writing as a serious threat because of the absurd depths of his racism. Like, "Polaris" is about how much he hates Eskimos. Who has beef with Eskimos? note: I am aware that the Canadian government treats Inuit people like garbage and that anti-seal hunting conservationism has a profound negative impact on them; I'm talking more along the lines of personal prejudices. Lovecraft probably never even met any Inuit people.

Yeah, that's still not clear, especially since at least a few sources have said that it's discounted to $0 (as in, you still have to purchase it from the eshop, but the price is marked as nothing, like a PS+ title). It's infuriating.

It seems to still be unclear whether you get the first game for free, discounted, or at full price if you buy Bayonetta 2 digitally. I mean, it'd be a massive fuck-up to not make it free since it comes free with the physical copy, but they've really been terrible about communicating it.

I grew up in seafood country. My hometown has a huge salmon fishing industry and in this part of the country lobster is so common you can get it at McDonalds. It's still gross.

I appreciate that Danielle is in the same boat as me: we both have an incredible ability to learn and memorize extensive information, but only about the dumbest shit. Also, just a weird and interesting note about racism in old cartoons: Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astro Boy among others, learned his style of cartooning from early American cartoons by Disney, Fleischer, etc. Along with the more famous trademarks like giving his characters huge eyes, he also inadvertently mimicked those cartoons' habit of giving their minority characters offensive, racist designs; seemingly because he just didn't know better. His work had a distinctly anti-racist theme, so he would have these horrible racist caricatures often be the most well-rounded and sympathetic characters in the narrative. A good portion of his books that have been translated into English have an introductory disclaimer along the lines of the mentioned in the episode.

Regarding female Link: 1) There was this recent period where Zelda became sort of awesome and terrible for me at the same time. In the span of about 48 hours surrounding this E3, we got to see playable Zelda and Midna in Hyrule Warriors, Eiji Aonuma hinting that the very feminine-looking player character in the Zelda Wii U trailer might not be Link leading people to naturally think it might have been Zelda, but then confirming the next day that yes it is just Link, then Famitsu showing that pretty much every female Zelda character is playable in Hyrule Warriors. So I guess Zelda will never have a female lead unless it's a shitty Dynasty Warriors spinoff game. 2) I'm gonna go ahead and conform to the terrible reputation I have established for myself and let Sean know that Pokémon does the Han Solo thing. From Ruby/Sapphire and on, whenever you choose your character's gender/character model, the one that you didn't choose will always be your ally and rival for the rest of the game. 3) Zelda came so fucking close in A Link Between Worlds when they made this poor guy, who thought he was the hero of time and was devastated when he realized that he wasn't. Reviews are starting to come in for Hyrule Warriors, and it seems like it's perfectly mediocre. Not unexpected; still disappointing.
