  1. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Moot's not just one of the lead mods, Moot is the founder of 4chan. These fucking gaters.
  2. I really recommend Superman: The Animated Series and the subsequent Justice League/Justice League Unlimited for some great Superman material. They're set in the same universe as Batman: The Animated Series, so you know they're good. One of my all-time favourite subtle jokes in film is a single shot in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Lucas Lee is in Toronto filming a movie set in New York when Scott fights him, and at one point he throws Scott through a fake backdrop of the Empire State Building to reveal the real CN Tower framed perfectly in the hole.
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

It's like a spy thriller starring SmarterChild.
  4. I'm talking about the hitmen who advertise that they'll kill "japs" for free. It's not an offensive caricature or stereotype, it's just a straight-up statement of "we hate this race so much that we will murder them."

When you run out of space for big things, you should fill in the gaps with the Hyrule field ground texture.
  6. I'm pretty sure that the official reason Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs doesn't get a modern release isn't because of its depiction of black people but its very deliberate wartime anti-Japanese sentiment in one scene (though I'm sure that the black characters didn't help).
  7. I think it's one of those well-meaning but ultimately problematic things like what happened with Lego. Lego was a gender-neutral toy that got so heavily militarized and dudebro'd that their female audience dropped off and market research found that the only way to reclaim the lost female audience was to start a second product line aggressively marketed toward girls in a very stereotypical way. Nerf Guns are super Codblopsy now, so it's not surprising that only boys end up owning them. It's no coincidence that the Rebelle line prominently includes bows. Most of the city was very explicitly evacuated earlier in the episode. The Timm/Dini version of the DCAU was generally very good about not letting innocent bystanders get hurt and would only very rarely let buildings be destroyed*, unlike a certain other Superman franchise. There was an arc specifically about the watchtower being used to destroy an empty building and how controversial it was for the league to even have that kind of power. It ended with them decommissioning it. *the only other time I can think of Superman causing massive property damage in the DCAU was during a fight with Captain Marvel in a completely unoccupied planned community.
  8. I'm waaaaay out on the Atlantic coast. When I go to the supermarket, I can get things that were caught that morning. It's still gross.

    Wind fish?
  10. The demo is out for us peasants and boy howdy is Smash Bros. uncomfortable to play on the 3DS. I think I'll just wait for the Wii U version.
  11. Life

This captcha legitimately made me feel better about my day.
  12. The Idle Thumbs Store

Baseball shirt that says "South Bay Puffins" on it.
  13. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

Oh hey, Gregory Horror Show. I've wanted to play that for a while. That LPer is fucking awful though.

I just called my (now former) insurance company. My cheque hasn't even been sent yet. What the hell? It's scheduled to be sent today and arrive on Monday (Wednesday at the latest), but it seriously took more than two weeks tor them to even send it when they promised it would be in my hands within seven business days? Argh.
  15. I definitely get that. I got another shiny throuhgh Wonder Trade (a Dragalge holding a Leftovers. Neat), so I added a new section to the chart.
  16. I took a break after hatching about 1500-2000 or so Rotoms trying to get a shiny and decided to put a box of them up on Wonder Trade. I immediately got a shiny Carvanha with 5 perfect IVs (missing Special Attack) and its hidden ability. Well then.

I'm still waiting on the settlement cheque for that paperwork I filed two weeks ago, and still have no idea when the fibreop guy is going to show up. An electrician was by today to put in a new outlet, but the guy with the actual modem never showed. I hate waiting for things.
  18. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

UPDATE: the director's cut of Deadly Premonition is in the current Humble Bundle if you pay more than six bucks. If I had six bucks I'd be all over that, so the rest of y'all have NO EXCUSE.
  19. Idle Thumbs Postcard camouflaged in HR BS

Remember when Justin Beiber had his own fragrance that was heavily marketed for like two months? At my last job, someone took one of the cardboard promotional standees of JB that they'd gotten somehow and stood it up in a hallway. It was there for the entire period for which I worked there.
  20. I was secretly really hoping that Nick Breckon had opened a second twitter account for the express purpose of sabotaging Chris and Sarah's Astro Blasters run.
  21. Fantasy Finale XV

    TWEWY 2?! *froths with demand*
  22. Also relating to what Anita was saying about the way companies refuse to take a chance on entertainment for women: the fucking worst is the way they try to decide what will sell to kids. The original pitch for Dora the Explorer was nearly impossible to sell because executives thought that a show with a Hispanic female lead would only appeal to a niche audience, which is a fucking bizarre thing to say about a show aimed at preschoolers. Monster High similarly took years to convince anyone to buy into it. Worse is the very transparent way that stuff is marketed toward kids based on gender though. Watch some toy commercials sometime and see how phrases like "electronic lights and sounds" vs "magically lights up and talks to you" (oh hey, Clarke's third law) are used based on their demographic, or how literally every piece of marketing for Nerf's range of dart guns for girls depicts them wearing the included protective eyewear incorrectly as a fashion accessory instead of as safety equipment.
