Holy shit, the Blu-Ray of Frankenstein that I bought today has this amazing bonus short film from 1932 that's like the Great Depression's equivalent of a Youtube Poop.

I decided to splurge today, just once, until I either get a job or until my birthday, whichever comes first. There was a sale at HMV and I have a friend coming over this weekend with the intention of watching monster movies, plus I've been dying to read Through the Woods and really wanted to frame more of my comics after yesterday's experiment was such a success (this one turned out much worse, but you can't tell since pretty much every goof I made is invisible from the outside. Too bad Wal-Mart only had the two frames). Hooray! Shopping!

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form

There are only three of them in my entire country. Goddamnit, Canada. There's not even any in Maine, so I can't do a border hop. -
It's fucking gross that TB is not only at the top of the Steam curators list, but has nearly three times as many followers as the second most-popular curator. Also that he was one of the first to accuse Zoe Quinn of breaching "journalistic ethics" and then put a game he was paid to cover on his list. Ugh.

Also, Jake, that Smash demo is free for anyone now.

Womens' pants don't usually have functional pockets, because they want you to buy purses. For me, almost everything goes in either a jacket pocket or this.

Also, it's pretty fucking patronizing for Dan to talk about how you can make it in the industry if you just keep at it. I'm sure Mattie Brice and Jenn Frank would still be around if they had spent their college years making drinking game videos.

The latest Bombcast has a lot of Dan Ryckertisms; like trying to steal a painting while drunk by stuffing it into his pants and later having to pull glass shards out of his ass, or getting a dog and then changing his mind and giving it away within 24 hours on two nonconsecutive occasions.

I am suddenly very, very glad to no longer work at my old job processing insurance claims for damaged cell phones. iPhone customers were always the worst because their deductibles were always the highest and they were always shitheads with entitlement issues.

Hey dudes who collect single issues: I don't know when they started selling them, but Wal-Mart has these nice document frames for like three bucks that are just slightly larger than a comic book. I cut a few pieces of bristolboard to fit and then cut a space for a comic into three of them. It looks super nice for something that only cost me about four dollars to make.

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form

The ones they were talking about on the podcast with the disclaimer are included in the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection (previously Golden Collection) boxed sets. They're sets of unedited versions of classic Looney Tunes shorts meant for collectors (there's another edited series meant for kids that I believe is called the Spotlight Collection). They also replace all of the previously removed violent or risqué content. The really super overtly racist stuff, the "censored eleven," is mostly kept locked up though (unless you go to Youtube). -

Plus, I mean, what apartment doesn't come with a fridge?

Gregory Horror Show is one of only like six PS2 games that don't run on PCSX2. Daaaaang. Any recommended Halloween reading/listening to go with playing and viewing? A few from me: The Sleep of Reason, an indie horror comic anthology. Something by Emily Carroll, who recently released a printed collection of horror comics called "Through the Woods." Bongcheon-Dong Ghost, aka "that fucking terrifying Korean horror webcomic." If you've never read it before, it only takes like five minutes and it will almost certainly startle/freak you out. The gimmick: HP Podcraft, specifically the full Lovecraft story readings on the left sidebar. I recommend "The Haunter of the Dark" and "The Temple."

The saddest thing about the Disney Vault is that it was envisioned as a way to let every generation of kids get to see the movies before home video was a thing, and now it's a way to introduce artificial scarcity. -
It's so weird that they hired someone who almost exclusively produces erotic art and never once thought "maybe this is that that over-sexualization thing that people complain about."

I paid off my credit card in full. When I got my last job and moved to a new city, my new employer pushed back my first day indefinitely at the last possible moment, forcing me to live off of my credit card for months until I had maxed it out. Since then, I've been struggling (and usually failing) to keep it below the limit for more than two years. Now it's finally at zero again, and I keep looking at all the stuff on amazon and Steam and the eshop that I couldn't get before and realize that I'm still incredibly hesitant to do so. I'm so used to not being able to spend money that I've become averse to doing so. This is probably better for me in the long run, but I still don't like it.

Has anyone here read "Through the Woods" by Emily Carroll? I'm on the fence about putting through an amazon order for it, as I have become averse to spending money.

How is it that the world has a man named Wolf Blitzer in it and he's a journalist instead of a space marine?

If there was ever a photo that the Ferguson police didn't need taken... (they were allegedly nowhere to be found when the fire department showed up)

So today I found this picture of a young Hideki Kamiya and now I understand everything.
